Prompt: Subira, usually a stone-cold lioness when it came to matters of emotion, felt a stab of pity as she watched the weeping young cat. “Why are you cursed?” she asked, trying to be as gentle as she could as she sat down beside him.
SPACEIn between sobs, he choked out, “I talked to—Yulek and—he said I wasn’t good enough—that I was cursed—that I couldn’t come back to Ikaika—ever again!” Then the poor young cat began bawling and curled in on himself, soaking his own tail in tears.
SPACESympathy overwhelmed Subira as she watched the young cat grieve for all he had lost. She had been told she wasn’t good enough for all her life, and had struggled to defy the stereotype so many lions had assigned to her for years.
SPACE“Hey,” she murmured, crouching down to get on his eye level. “No matter what Yulek says, you’re not cursed. You are a strong, brave cat, and you are amazing.”
SPACEHe sniffled. “You think so?” The fur tuft on his head was mussed from him shoving his face into his tail.
SPACESubira nodded, smiling softly. “I know so.” She straightened back up. “Come on. Show me this Yulek. I’ll prove to him that you’re not cursed.”

Nthanda had taken a moment to take a breather, escaping all the fuss and busyness going on in the city. The field was the perfect place to try to gather her thoughts and get some space.

But as she walked she thought she caught the faint sound of..crying? Wary but curious and also concerned, she tried to find the source of the noise.

It led her into the forest a little ways, and at first she saw nothing even as the sound got louder. But then she finally spotted him, a young cat with fur that almost blending with the bush under which he hid.

Cautiously she leaned down by him. "Why are you out here alone? It's be safer if you went back into the city you know."

“I can’t go back, I can’t!” The cat cried, his eyes watering. “I’m cursed, they’re never going to let me back! I won’t ever see my mom, or my sisters, or—” As sobs interrupted his speech Nthanda felt her heart go out to the young cat.

"Why would anyone say such a thing?"

"Just look at me?' The cat wailed. Nthanda saw nothing obviously wrong with the cat, even his fur color not unusual for the city's citizens.

"I think you look just fine. Why do you believe you're cursed?"

"It's...my paws. No cat has such dark paws on green, not in my whole family! It's ugly. It....it looks like I'm dying." The cat seemed to quiver as he spoke, his ears flattening.

"I'm sure you are neither dying or cursed. I have seen cats with white paws, gray paws, and even purple paws here. You are unique perhaps but that's nothing to be ashamed of, and no reason to believe you're cursed. I think it makes you special."

"Really, me? Special?" He pricked his ears, seeming almost hopeful.

"Yes. Now, what do you say we find your family? I'm sure they're worried about you."

"Well, okay." He got out from under the bush to join her. "I wish I looked nice like you. Maybe then cats wouldn't say I'm cursed."

Nthanda smiled ruefully. "You look just fine as you are. And trust me, sometimes beauty can be its own curse."

Melli tries to ignore the crying. She really does. But it reaches through layers and walls and curls around her heart, making it ache. She cant ignore it, so tries to explain her actions by thinking that it's just to make sure they aren't in danger.

When she creeps through the underbrush she does think for a moment they are in danger. Darkness crawling up their legs, trapping them and threatening a slow death. But then her eyes adjust and Melli can see that it is simply fur, deep and rich around the colour of her own but far more contrasted against the rest of his green body.

When the cub says he is cursed Mellis heart breaks further and she lays down beside him. He’s sniffling and looks up at Melli with eyes so filled with tears.

“I-” I don't think you are cursed, don't be silly, where are your family, all these responses bounce around in her mind but they aren't right. He’s so young, so fragile.

“They used to say I was cursed as well.” Melli said, sighing. The cub- no kitten Melli remembered- hiccuped, staring at her with wide eyes.

“I mean, there aren't many other lions with such dark coats, some said it was a sign of evil, to be so dark.” She gazed into the distance for a moment, remembering the harsh words of her youth.

“You dont think Im evil do you?” Melli asked, the kitten shaking its head quickly. She nodded, a little relieved.

“Well you arent evil nor cursed either, your appearance can’t define you like that, alright little one?” The cub nodded this time and Melli gave them one of her rare smiles.

Prompt: After gardening, Mamba decided to go for a walk around the outskirts of the city. The guardians who had gone in search of the missing visitors had not returned yet, but that didn't mean Mamba couldn't do a bit of investigating on his own. As he made his way towards the city gates, he saw a cat frantically talking to anyone who walked by. Two kittens stood beneath her, their fur stiff with anxiety.

"Please, has anyone seen my son?" She begged of every passerby. Everyone shook their heads, murmuring apologies.

Mamba's heart went out to the cat. With five children of his own, he knew how stressful it was when one wandered off without telling anyone. He padded over to her. "I can help you look, if you would like," he offered.

"Oh, thank you! I'm afraid he ran away, some lions were teasing him earlier and said he looked like he was turning into one of the dark creatures. He's bright green, but he has dark markings on his paws that look like he was dipped in mud."

Mamba nodded, committing the description to memory. "I was just heading out of the city to see what I could find for clues about the disappearance of the visitors. Let's see if he is out there."

The group of four padded out of the city. The little kittens climbed up onto Mamba's back, squealing in delight at being up so high and at not having to walk. Soon, another sound reached their ears. The sound of crying.

Sure enough, they found a bright green kit hidden in a bush. His mother ran over to him, scooping him close to her and muttering something about being glad he was ok. The two other kittens climbed off of Mamba and ran over too.

The Metallic smiled at the family reunion. He was glad he could help.

He still thought about the evil power that diverted so many of the citizens; as Orpheus thought so much before, he just felt so much guilt for his actions.
He still wasn't sure what he was doing, and he wasn't sure he ever would.

He sighed as he left the Trinity Tree; it felt so much better for him to leave for some odd reason, but he couldn't quite place it. Was it the constant reminder of his failures?
Was it the fact that he had asked the goddess herself for answers and she did not respond? The tree constantly reminded him of that moment, and he sighed...

He heard sobbing, and almost immediately turned to find the source of it; a young cat, and Orpheus felt an immeasurable amount of pity.
It was almost like he reminded him of Alaz, somewhat; with the fur sticking up on his forehead and his jet black paws...
He quickly focused on his words, though; and he felt too compassionate to remember anything useful about the past, so he turned to the cat in an attempt to comfort him.
"Listen, listen, it'll all be alright. You're not cursed. Who told you that?"
He stuck with the young cat for a while, in an attempt to comfort him the best Orpheus could, and he tried to reassure him, to bring him back.

He wasn't about to lose someone again.

Suen had been taking a patrol round when he picked up the crying. The higher and younger pitch of the sobs immediately activating his baser instincts as the god of fertility, children, and protection. Locating the sorce his heart clenched at the sight of the young cub, no the cat that hid amongst the brush. For a moment Suen thought the young cat injured before inky darkness of his paws showed to just be a strange coloring. "There there little soul. What ever could be your trouble that has you so far out here alone?" Taking a chance to curl around the cat protectively in the chance one those beasts were around. Listening to the child wail once again about a curse and family that he would never see again Suen groomed down the kits wild fur. An attempt to calm the smallers fears as he spoke of his worries to Suen. "I'm sure your family would want you back. There were many separated a few days ago and I know many have prayed for their safe return." Having the kit look at him Suen smiled gently eyes darting to make sure no other was listening, "I shall share a secret and promise with you if you agree to come back to camp." A slow hesitant nod the only response. "I'm not like many of the other lions here. Where I'm from the pride only know me as the moon they see in the sky. I promise if anyone bothers you when you come back I'll be right there with you, and if they dare miss with you they'll have to answer to a god."

SPACEThe young green cat continues to sob uncontrollably. Suha remembered on her way out here to the forests there had been a mother looking for a lost son. She had two other kittens with her. Perhaps this cat was her son. She approached the child and spoke softly.
SPACE"Your mother is looking for you. Worried."
SPACEHe sniffled and looked up at her. "But I'm cursed! They'll never let me back in."
SPACESuha was very familiar with curses. Back in her plane of existence, she was the one who placed curses on lions. Perhaps it best not share such information with the frightened cat. If he was worried about going back, maybe she could fetch his mother and bring her here instead. "Don't move. I shall return."
SPACEAfter a small timid nod from the green child, she made her way back to the tree to find the distraught mother. It didn't take too long. She was still asking if anyone had seen her son. The two kittens with her looked restless. Suha approached the family.
SPACE"I found your son. You should come with me." The mother seemed a bit confused but gave a small smile and nodded quickly. Suha led the mother, the two kittens trailing behind, back to where the green cat was. "He's just beyond the bushes. You may have some things to discuss. May your family be well." With that, she excused herself.

Sen and Rei were walking together, discussing their plans for the nearest future, but also enjoying exploring the area around the tree. It was a mix of patrolling and relaxing. When they heard the cry, Sen decided to run towards it. There was no telling what might have happened. It might’ve been a young champion attacked by another wave of the forces of decay. When they finally found the green kitten they stopped, Rei moving a few steps back, Sen in the front.

- Calm down, child - Sen spoke in a slow, calming voice, hoping it would have an effect on the young one. - Don’t worry, we’ll help you, we’re here to protect you. Many champions from various magical places have come to this land. I’m sure one of them will know how to solve your problem.

He looked back at Rei, hoping he’d join in and support him to reassure the kitten, but Rei was already disappearing behind trees. Of course. If there was any work to be done that wasn’t fighting, he would avoid it like fire. Especially one that dealt with emotions.

Slowly, softly, he put one his large paws on the cat’s shoulder and smiled encouragingly. He was never very good with comforting people, but this kitten was probably around the age of his own son and seeing it so miserable made his heart ache. He really felt for the child.

Xia, Tasso and Pecora decide to stay out of the trinity tree after being sucked into helping the cub hunt. They were relieved to be free and not have tasks every minute of the day. Although they didn’t admit it they were struggling with their energy levels and just wanted a decent sleep. It is then just as they find a spot in the shade that they hear the heart wrenching sob.

Pecora is the first up and finding the young cub, his unusual appearance not facing her in the slightest. Immediately she wraps her body around the adolescence in comfort. Back at the pride Pecora looked after the cubs as she had a soft spot for them. She felt especially sorry for this cat, it was hard to be discriminated due to your fur colour. She simply looked at him with a sad smile. “Darling, there is nothing wrong with you. You are not cursed and whoever told you that is wrong.” She said gently like she did with the cubs back at home. “What will happen if you go back home? I promise that nothing will happen to you as long as me and those two can help it, no one will hurt you, I promise.” She said with a determined voice.
