What I suggest, is making the arms that lay by the side of the head smaller, so proportionally it looks like it fits on the head better.
Think of it like a helmet with the ears poking out.
The "straps" or "arms" would be a little skinnier than the actual base, and then the ears would fit perfectly over the original ears, with the animal face of the hat being centered right on the top of the hat. c:

Wanted to say I use GIMP too, so no worries. I find it one of the better free programs for pixel art, and it makes it super simple to animate them on there.

Also, Shad Lytlion do you think we should make a fake lineart for people who want to show examples of accessories and pup designs? When they apply.

I never got into GIMP, so here I am with MS Paint x)

I don't see why we couldn't have the normal Doggo lineart for them to create things on. That's not a half-bad idea.



This is the most basic lineart, and the first type of Doggo that was created.
From this, I would like you to make three Doggos all following a certain theme. The theme has to be clear and understood, like Lace's snowflake dogs or like my music ones that were just released.

If you want to put accessories on them, you can. But please make sure that the lines for them are clean and not sloppy, meaning that the outline to them is clear and doesn't blend in with the lines for the Doggo.
Don't worry about animating them.

From there, we can discuss what we think your strengths and your weaknesses are, and if we'll take you on to the Dandy Doggos team ^^

Suggesting the theme flowers if you are interested in doing those. Does not have to apply to the accessories themselves, you are free to design a couple of any type to show your work.

If you'd like another theme, try clouds/dreams/thunderstorms,or gardens/overgrown to name two more.
