a feeling of warmth blossomed in sandfur's very being. he smiled weakly at rustedpelt, who genuinely smiled warmly at him. he never felt so cared about as he did in that moment.

Cloverpaw, who had been helping to tease out a knot somewhere along his spine, also paused in his licking, eyeing his sister a bit nervously.

"What are you up to?" Duckpaw asked, purring at the barely contained glee on his friend's face.

Cinnamonpaw halted in front of the pair of them, planting her paws and drawing herself up dramatically before speaking.

"Would you rather..." she began.

"Oh, I hate these questions," Cloverpaw sighed.

"Hush, critic! Ahem. Suppose," Cinnamonpaw continued grandly, "you had to agree to never touch your paws to the ground again. Would you rather be stuck in trees and have to move aboveground, or be stuck in water and have to swim or wade all the time?"

"Swimming, easy," Duckpaw said without missing a beat.

"What kind of question is that?" Cloverpaw's frown deepened.
