You and Carter spend the rest of the day leisurely lounging on the back porch, with you idly sorting through some assorted nails and screws as he continues to work through the almost comically-large pile of driftwood. As the two of you work, you think about the riddle he gave you to solve. It was surprisingly difficult. (He's either a really fast learner, you think, or he was just pretending at being bad at riddles.) Still, by the time the sun had set, turning the temperature blissfully cooler, you had just about sussed out the answer. Waiting, nearly vibrating with excitement, you waited until Carter set down the last piece of carved driftwood before turning on him.

"The answer to the riddle is a pearl necklace!"

He looked taken aback, eyes wide as he tried to process what you had just told him. Then, slowly, his wide-eyed look turned into an easygoing grin.

"Wow, you really figured that one out fast, huh! Good job!"

Carter seems to be messing around with a whole bunch of things when you step into the clearing behind his cabin; laying out several large woven baskets, inspecting shovels, and, almost scarily, a large machete. He hears you approaching and turns around, smiling despite your hesitation. He waves you over, setting down the machete.

"Good morning! Say, you’ve met Brandy, right? Over at th' bar?"

Carter pauses, squinting at you. You sweat a little, feeling a bit nervous despite being good friends with Carter (in your eyes) at this point.

"Or maybe not... How old are you again? Anyways, I was wondering if I could ask you for a another favour, since you’ve been so helpful. See, Brandy asked me to find him some feathers from th' jungle -said something about them remindin' hom of “his youth”?- but I’ve got my hands full with clearing out some of the paths that lead around the island."

He gestures towards the assorted items lying around him, (so that explains it...) before continuing.

"I really don’t want to make 'im wait; maybe you could help me out?"
