Here she is!
Write about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them:
one of the worst memories Opal has is the loss of her first fish, Frisco. He was a crowntail betta, blue and white with one little speck of red on his belly. He was a gorgeous fish, a present for her tenth birthday. He was all hers to care for, and boy did she love him. He lived for almost two years before one day, she woke up to feed him and he had suddenly, out of the blue, died. She'd broken down sobbing, and it was all her parents could do to simply try to quiet her down. She tried to convince them to take him to a pet hospital, which of course in hindsight could almost be comical, but it really spoke for how devastated she was. She'd drawn pictures of him all over her school notebooks, and even took some flash-inhibited photographs of the little guy from time to time. The day of his death, her parents couldn't get her to eat a thing, and eventually they convinced her to allow them to take him out and have a proper funeral, but even that was a struggle. She decorated a box for him with some of his tank decorations and even some fish food, along with a handwritten note of farewell and some glitter to make it even prettier for him. She cried through the whole ordeal, and again it was an effort to drag the poor girl back inside. By that time, it was only mid afternoon, but the emotional trauma and lack of energy drained her, and she fell asleep before dinner. Finally, in the middle of the night she awoke to a rumbling stomach. She got up and instinctively went to check on Frisco, which only led to more tears, but... After a midnight snack and a moonlit visit to his grave to say her own, final, private goodbyes, she crawled back into bed and teary-eyed, finally lulled herself to sleep.
