@M00N That was something I was concerned about. But before I jumped into anything I thought I'd try to gather some feedback from all you guys regarding the situation just so I could at least build up on the decision.

Hiring an Archivist is a possibility, but it's not something I'm particularly keen on for the sole reason that the archivist may very well stop updating altogether unless someone reminds them - even if they are reputable. It's happened with adopts of mine before hence why I choose to take the responsibility on myself. Besides, I also like to update the archives as soon as possible so that there's no confusion with anything... otherwise it gets a bit over my head if a mistake is made XD

However, I have got an idea in mind as to what to do now for the archives.
It's not the prettiest of ideas, but I was thinking of recycling what I did with the archives for my old The Dragon's Den adopts whereas it's an entire thread with the first post having a contents list with links to each user and each post dedicated to the adopts and inventory of each owner. It's tried and tested as being pretty solid so it's what I might just do.

Wait, would you be owning all of the posts or still relying on the users to update their own posts?

yea, like a "movie star" litter!
for a dolphin you could have winter
for a horse I'm not sure how many people know "war horse" but you could do joey?
They can maybe come with set names, or you have to guess their real name to get it!

Maybe I'd consider loosely basing a few pets on real-life animals, but as much as I love certain animals in films and books, I can't say I'm overly keen on the idea of using copyrighted characters, like Joey. So I'm not going to guarantee that this will be definite.
