Aster walks through the bustling festival, his tail held high and a purr rumbling in his chest as he takes in the lively atmosphere. A particularly crowded section quickly catches his attention, and he curiously makes his way over to a brightly decorated area filled with laughing catshee and barrels of water. His eyes shine with excitement as he realizes this must be the 'apple bobbing' he's read about before! He cheerfully calls over his friends and invites them to take part as well, only for them to share a hesitant glance with each other.

Saccharine holds her nose up in the air and lets out an overdramatic huff. "Someone of my regal standing should always look their best, I can't sully my fur in such water!" Meanwhile, Specter offers an apologetic smile as he gestures to the small flame atop his head.

Aster lets out a warm chuckle as the responsibility falls on his shoulders and eagerly approaches the barrel. "Don't worry, I'll make sure to get enough for all of us!"

Nymphe, Foxberry, and Thea walked through the Samhain festival together, happily enjoying the first days of games.

Thea pointed to the apple bobbing, laughing as a catshee was easily picking up apples as if it was nothing. "I could never grab them like that so quickly."

Foxberry quickly jumped to his feet, grinning. "Oh, but I'm sure I could!" He ran to the line, smirking over his shoulder at the other two catshee.

Thea followed him, taking a spot to stand on the sideline as Foxberry approached the water. Foxberry shifted on his feet for a moment, beginning to grow nervous as he looked at the apples floating... 'Oh, please don't miss-' His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a sudden, quick blur next to him, diving at the water! He jumped back, only to see Nymphe rushing from behind him, teeth flashing in the dimming sunlight. He grabbed an apple with one loud, solid chomp.

Nymphe grinned with his teeth still firmly planted in the apple before he held it in their paws. "You have to be faster than that!" They said before taking a bite of the apple.

While Garcinia loves a good apple bob, their long curly coat would be a nightmare to deal with if they got wet. They've already seen another cat take quite the tumble into the tub, and have no interest in sharing that fate! Instead, they linger near the tables stocked with food, belly growling. Everything smells so nice, cinnamon and cloves flooding their senses, and they just want a little nibble... The crowd seems to have no interest in letting them squeeze in, though. For now, they'll have to be content with the sniffs they can fight for.

A splash jolts them out of their pumpkin-spiced heaven, and they immediately know where to look. Another Catshee appears to have dunked their head fully under the water! Now why would any cat do that on purpose? Still, the gleam in the other cat's eyes shows they don't regret it one bit, shaking off the water with a triumphant smirk. The cheers from surrounding cats ring out, and suddenly, Garcinia feels a pang of envy.

...Maybe a little water wouldn't hurt.

They pace, waiting patiently for the line to die down, eyes trained on an apple with an appealing yellow spot... Well, okay, they're building up the nerve, more than anything. But once the crowd clears, and the tub is abandoned...

SPLASH! They pounce in, plunging their entire body into the water.

COLDCOLDCOLDCOLDCOLD. Garcinia scrambles out of the water, apple clutched in their trembling jaw. That was so not worth it... But they have to admit, their sopping wet coat means nobody's crowding them anymore, and they hold their tail high, path to the food secured.

The soft glow of the lanterns strung above the clowders of catshee and stalls of activities gave a warm feel to the already bustling and cozy atmosphere. Beans scuttled in-between others legs as they rushed to join the classic Apple Bobbing, flurries of giggles following them. Couples sit side-by-side dipping heads into the barrels to get apples for each other.
Dilly wandered through the thicks of cats, a soft smile on her face as she heard excitement from everyone. The white and grey tabby lady was simply pleased to be in the presence of such joy for the autumn holiday. As she padded past the area of water barrels, twirling the dill weed in her mouth, she couldn’t help reminiscing about her younger days, participating and snatching apples as best she could. She chuckled quietly as she remembered how her long fur always flattened around her face and over her eyes every time she pulled back out of the water.
“Dilly?” a small voice met her ears, bringing Dill out of her memories to see a small fledgling in front of her. A small recognition was reached, with Dilly remembering helping this one here and there. They shuffled their paws on the ground a bit, “Would… Would you come bob with me? I feel out of place, doing it by myself.. And I don’t have anyone else I know who would come bobbing with me..”
“Oh?” An unexpected request but it was one that made her smile gently and nod, “Of course I’ll come with you!”
The small catshee perked their ears and brightened up. They began to walk with a small bounce in their step as Dilly followed after. A barrel was picked and the two would be submerged, grabbing at apples with their teeth. There was success and failure, apples and nothing, all tied together with water, laughs, and the watchful eyes of those no one knew were watching…(321)

"Ain'tch'all excited? What's better for bondin' than a good ol secret sharin' git together!" Cowboy mewed to the rest of their band, tail high as they looked at them all.

Their excitement wasn't exactly reflected upon Shiva and Halifax's faces, but Cowboy didn't let it get to them as they grinned cheerfully.

"C'mon, one'a'ya's gotta be my secret sharin' buddy! Or we can go round robin, what'd'y'all think?"

"I think my bed is calling me," Shiva said drolly.

Halifax looked at Shiva tiredly, but offered Cowboy a softer, more hesitant glance. "Not sure I have a lot of pleasant secrets to share, Cowboy…"

"Well that's alright! Just lay'em on me! I swear I won't judge Hal. Promise," Cowboy replied eagerly. "Shiva can tell you theirs, and I'll tell them mine, and the circle will be complete!"

"I don't know…"

Cowboy hummed thoughtfully, their energy relaxing for a moment as they placed a soft paw on their shoulder.

"How about I go first, alright?"

Halifax nodded hesitantly.

"Ok, my secret to share is…" Cowboy's voice dropped to a whisper, "I don't actually like peanut butter on everything. It goes terribly with pickles, in my humble opinion!"

"I think everyone agrees with that, bud," Halifax snorted.

"And for my secret to keep…"

Shiva leaned forward in interest, only for Halifax to shove their face away with an eyeroll.

"Go on," Halifax said patiently.

"I never really wanted to be leader," Cowboy breathed out, looking away.

Halifax's eyes widened.

"But I'm so glad I did. I don't regret stepping up for you guys." Cowboy's shoulders dropped as they looked at Halifax expectantly, then Shiva, who had already edged closer once more to easedrop.

"Lame," Shiva murmured, but within a moment Halifax gathered them all into a hug, Cowboy laughing loudly, and Halifax purring up a storm. Shiva might have smiled, but really, who would tell?

What Secret Will They Share? Amber and Citrine (#B008-2) have made the decision to Nest together. They can't wait to raise their little Beans!
What Secret Will They Keep? Amber had a small crush on Kitsune (#B003-4), but Citrine (#B008-2) eventually won her heart.




Amber the adventurous little Catshee flicked her tail with a grin as she recounted the tale to Midgar, who was lounging lazily on the windowsill.

“You should’ve seen Saber’s face,” Amber began, her eyes sparkling. “We were supposed to head north toward the old stone arch—you know, the one that supposedly glows at moonrise. But Kitsune insisted that his whiskers never lie about direction.”

Midgar snorted. “Kitsune’s whiskers once pointed him straight into a pond.”

“Exactly!” Amber laughed. “But we followed him anyway. Saber even made a big show of drawing a map in the dirt. Unfortunately, she drew it upside down. So when Kitsune started walking south, we all thought he was heading north. Turns out, we were marching proudly toward the Marsh of Hollow Reeds instead of the arch.”

Midgar raised an eyebrow. “So what happened?”

“Oh, it gets better,” Amber said, barely containing her laughter. “We got there just as the wind kicked up and the reeds started whistling like ghosts. Saber yowled like she’d been ambushed by spirits, Kitsune slipped into a muddy patch, and I—being the noble explorer—tried to leap onto a rock for safety… only to realize it was covered in moss.”

Midgar chuckled, shaking his head. “So that’s why your tail’s still a little green?”

Amber purred smugly. “A mark of adventure, my dear Midgar. A true Catshee explorer’s badge.”
