after some consideration and research, i will be revamping and updating my app with more creative freedom in mind with regards to patterns. i won't make a new post to avoid spamming the thread, but i will update my post periodically as i finish each werm, and potentially add more. as of right now, charged werm 1 & 2 have been updated.

Why do you want to be a breeding artist for WERMZ?
as a digital & traditional artist of many years, i've always particularly enjoyed pixel art and pokemon fusions. while this may not directly relate to wermz, i've found even just while doing these breeding pairs that coming up with varying ways of combining the same two wermz is a fun creative challenge - and the outcome is giving someone new characters to enjoy, which is even better! i'm not here because i want more wermz for myself, honestly. i'm here because i think the art style is adorable and the opportunity to push myself to be creative while having fun doing it (for other people!) is too good to pass up!

as for my breeding pair choices, i decided to just go in order down the list rather than pick and choose the ones i liked or had more ideas for. this was intended to give me a challenge to come up with unique designs that i liked enough to share even if i found it difficult to keep coming up with more variations.

also - i wasn't sure how much you can deviate from the original patterns of the parents? aside from shifting colors around and picking and choosing which patterns appear and don't appear, idk i'm not in the community as much. i can include additional outcomes with "new" patterns if that is something that is allowed.

Why do you want to be a breeding artist for WERMZ?

I want to be an artist for this incredible group because I love Wermz and want to give back to the community! I think the lore of Wermz is so compelling and gives players just enough freedom to be goofy while balancing out heavier tones of a post-apocalyptic setting with lighthearted silliness. I would love to be able to contribute to this awesome and kind community by being a breeding artist. I'm very community-minded and love the way that art can connect us to ourselves and each other.

I'd like to apply to be a breeding artist specifically because of how much joy it brings me--both to be able to think of how to create connections between designs, as well as to be able to create for other people. IBreedings are the most exciting thing about Wermz for me--I love seeing all the speculative pairings or posts on the breeding thread. I feel like I read it like the newspaper hahaha. To me, the most important thing about breeding mechanics is about making new characters with existing elements but having them feel as unique and loved as the previous ones. I love when people can collaborate together and everyone can walk away with a unique werm that they can love! Getting to create designs that feel connected to littermates or parent wermz is really compelling for me.

I especially loved building off of other folks' works & remixing them to make something new. I gleaned a lot from this breeding about color and value; it's always a treat to build off of other artists and to learn from them in the process. I wanted to really push the colors in my outcomes. I also wanted build a faithful but distinct silhouette for my charged shard breedings! I especially like how the top right guy and bottom right guys came out.

Why do you want to be an artist for WERMZ?:
I would love to contribute to the community that has provided me with so many memories and rad characters. Wermz is one of my favorite UMAs mainly due to its lore and worldbuilding. As can be seen in my signature, I love Fallout and it's for this very reason. Werms themselves are perfect for an UMA; their base physique is rather simple, allowing plenty creativity when it comes to edits.



Tell us a bit about this werm/s:
The edits are either based on existing concepts or animals, or entirely made up by me during creation. Sometimes a mix of both. The colors have been picked in only one case (the sugar glider - aceflux flag); in other cases I came up with them after messing with them a bit. The shading has a few stages; first, I shade using a pixel brush, then copy the layer and blur it, then change the copy's color a bit, then I repeat the process with lighting.

Why do you want to be an artist for WERMZ?: Wermz is one of the first communities I came to join whenever I came back to CS after a while away. The amount of warmth and energy that came from joining is something I still think about to this day. It was a community that challenged me to become better at my art by the constant praise, reassurance, and advice I would get. Outside of just an amazing (and chaotic lol) community, I found myself really drawn to these little guys. Wermz were so much fun to draw, and seeing the creations artist and users make is just something that's really incredible. I would love to become part of the artist who help create the visions so many of these users come up with. Plus they are just silly little guys... how could you not want to make them lol

Tell us a bit about these werms:

Rainbow: The idea for her was originally going to be a witch. I wanted this custom to show of more of my ability for adding hair and accessories to werms. She did morph from there to just being rainbow whenever I was messing around with the colors of the lines. You can see the cat that was thought of because witches and black cats, but i guess she just has a son now lol

Moon: The this guy, I had an idea of a werm holding a moon. This was to reflect my ability to change up the position of the arms to be holding an object more... naturally? Adding from just a werm holding the moon, I went in the direction of mixing a bat and a dragon. Bat nose but more of a mythical element with the tail and ears.

Cowboy: ... idk I like cowboys lol. Also I have been trying to become more confident with adding clothing to my creations and so he is a way to model my growth.

Cow...?: "Look a cow!... that kinda looks like one but doesn't at the same time... odd?"

Infested: "Don't turn around... he is there"

Picnic: "Be careful with your cheese! Someone might grab it"

For all of these odd customs, I tried to not go insanely overboard with design. I know that my style is one that is more of a bubbly and cute style, and I wanted to stay true to this while also showing my range of design.

Tell us a bit about this werm/s: As we all know, I really like clouds and the sky lol. I don't think I would ever live it down if I didn't make some cloud related wermz, so this litter was born. I originally was going to do just the clouds, but I had looked outside whenever I let my dog out, and saw a rabbit (don't worry Herc wasn't able to get it lol) and thought to myself "haha bunny clouds would be cute" 10 minutes later I was able to edit in the small bunny ears lol

Tell us a bit about this werm/s: I really like basset hounds and I use to have one named Boots when I was a kid. I thought little hounds with them droopy faces and big ol paws would be cute wermified! I thought specifically basset hound because of the big droopy ears. I noticed a lot of wolf/upright ears on guys, so I wanted to experiment with a droop!

Why do you want to be a breeding artist for WERMZ? Along with all the stuff above, I really love coming up with ideas on creatine litters. A lot of the time, whenever I plan breedings with other users I already have ideas on what our wermz could look like together. I would also do this with other people's who I would see post just because there are so many ideas and possibilities. I love mashing things up and think its a fun way to celebrate the original art~

why do you want to be an artist for wermz ?
wermz is the first and only uma i’ve really dove into and stuck with . i may not be very sociable ( gettin better though ! ) , but i often observe and have found wermz to be a very welcoming , openminded bunch of folks :]
making wermz has been really fun for me ; i’ve just been sitting down and drawing away for hours without realizing . i’d love to keep making more ! when i see wermz , i get a little happier ; being able to bring that same joy to others would be so cool .

Why do you want to be an artist for WERMZ?:
Wermz is the first UMA I became a member of on CS when I joined a little over a year ago now. I can safely say I was welcomed into this community with friendly hellos, open arms, and amazing experiences with other members of this community. I've come to be familiar with the world of wermz now and have been for awhile due to the many ways someone can participate within the community.

I can't tell you the amount of little doodles I've created of my wermz and how much I love each of them. I also can't express how much fun it has been creating art of other's wermz whenever I get one of my overly creative spurts of energy and I just go at it haha
Wermz has, in short, taken over my every moment on CS (/pos).
Now that I've settled into the community more, I felt I could contribute to the community (if able) as a member of the Wermz Artist staff.

Tell us a bit about this werm/s:
1. The first fake werm I made. I was mainly playing around with some browns and exploring some different designs. {|} 2. The seventh fake werm I made. Came back to standards as just a little break and experimented with trying to capture water. {|} 3. Ooo spoopy season is around the corner! I dont care if I had 100° weather last week! I wanted to make something a little fun and festive! I tried to make a sort of pumpkin themed werm with common carving shaped prints. I also remembered I can color the lineart something other than black! Tried to also incorporate some moon shapes on the wermz's chest.

Tell us a bit about this werm/s:
For my first odd litter I wanted to test how I can merge animals into the wermz and also play with some gradiants without using an airbrush tool, etc. First I was just going to do one, then it turned into a slight obsession haha. I wanted to stay very true to the wermz lines here instead of fully turning them into the macaws I based them off of, so I added the beak, wings, some feathering, and edited the eyes while leaving most of everything else the wermz base!

Why do you want to be an artist for WERMZ?:

I'd love to be able to give back to the werm community. These lil guys have brought me so much joy and fun, having the chance to make lil guys for others is really awesome! And making it possible for more people to get wermz would be wonderful!

Experience:
I'm an artist in the suggie uma, so I have some experience! Yippe!! Suggies made me realize how much I enjoy making lil guys for others. It's so fulfilling seeing people enjoy or even make stories with the designs I make.

What I like to do in umas!:

I've found I like making giveaway games where the design winners will get is based off their entry! It helps a lot to have a strong concept to make a design around! So I'll probably do those quite a bit. I also really like doing line edits! It's really fun trying to try to make them unique, and also recognizable as a werm/suggie! For customs/recolors, I might not do too many for a bit because I get a bit stressed about making them perfect, but I'm working on that mindset because I really want to make more. I won't be taking usd for them so they'll be for coupons!

i did a normal standard and two standards with slight line edits here! with the standard i wanted to mess around with simple shapes and hard gradients, and for the goo line edited standard, i wanted to convey a strong personality! i felt the drip patterns would look nice with the droopy eyes/fur. And the blue one is blue because blue (:

bird line

im going to be entirely honest and just say i quite literally just wanted to draw some round wings when making this one. the blue jay coloration is just because i think the bird is pretty and would look nice on these lines. And the green guys coloration is from a color palette I found ^^

silly drink line

the idea of a werm with a silly straw for a tail was way to fun not to make! i made them drippy because i thought it would be fun to translate a standard wermz fluff into drips! Also gave one a shark fin looking lime slice because that just screams summer vibes! And then I started craving caramel, so I made one with an apple slice and pretzel stick tail! ^^

these lines where a blast to do research for! and when i say research, i mean looking up 'old diving suits real' and 'shark anatomy chart' lmao. still super fun tho! i tried making the sharks snout and back fins roughly line up to the standard werm lines to have a similar silhouette. and i thought it would be fun to have a line with a transparent tube thing! The other two are just messing around with fun colors!

three things i love is spiky hair, bright colors, and bangs that cover a characters eyes. also i wanted to make sparkle dog inspired wermz ^^

I thought a werm with a bottle for a tail would look cool! Added three eyes to make it a bit more unique, but otherwise I wanted to keep it close to standard lineart! I'm definitely going to make more of these ^^

Wanted to experiment with stripes for most of these! And added in a few unique guys for flavor! I also absolutely could not resist making at least one Christmas tree inspired guy on these lines! the tail just reminds me of a Christmas tree somehow. Made sure to give them a friend so they wouldn't be lonely (:
