@captain awesome
Each discipline / quality judged could have an editable that's colored in by the participants?
If there's an editable of a horse jumping over a log for cross country - everyone who is in the show/class could color in that editable and have the judge rank each picture. As that would be the only subjective part of the class, it would be only a small part of the total. I.E., if there's five horses in the class - and the same editable is colored for each horse, they could be ranked by the 'judge' due to whatever they like best - realism, best color, background, quality, etc. - from 1-5 with 5 being the highest.
The judge could be from the Association putting on the show, or from a pool of barns and the owner/manager/trainer could be a judge.
I have admired the DA horse sims and competitions where each horse entrant comes with artwork pertaining to the event. There was a world equestrian games that was held underwater, I believe, and all the entrants had to do artwork with the stadium and/or jumps that had to do with being underwater. It's such a unique blend of creativity. I also believe that each entrant has to write up a short bit about the competition along with the artwork. How the horse/rider reacts in the class, the warm up, the different events, vet check.
It would be cool to mix that in with RVEC's competitions.
-end awkward brainstorming
@ Oddly,
That's amazing - everyone has such great barn threads! If only my coding was up to par.

I really admire this idea but this might be putting a strain on people like me who can't use oekaki or anything like that for whatever reason and they'd have little chance of winning competitions if others are producing wonderful art of their ponies/horses.
Perhaps there could be two separate competitions, one for artists and one for writers etc?

As much as the idea is intriguing, Sim are run off of stats. I would much rather we keep it about the horses rather than about the users. Of course that doesn't mean to say we can't have some fun competitions like this along the way. But the weekly competition should be easy to run and judge on calculations of the stats with perhaps a bit of chance thrown in.

Hey guys! Sorry I didn't respond earlier ^^'
Oddly is absolutely correct c: And I say that in the best way possible -- you all have some wonderful ideas, and I'm so glad you're all so willing to discuss them here! But I'd like to get competitions going regularly each weekend and in order to do that I've got to be able to judge them fairly easily ^^ Additionally, there are those people who so badly want to be good at art or so badly want to have the time to take part, but either aren't or don't. Even just writing can be a strain on someone who's pressed for time, and I don't want to do that to anyone on a regular basis <3
However, I do think it's a very neat idea and I'm more than willing to do it occasionally as a special competition or something. It's just that for regular competitions, I'd much prefer to use the actual horse's stats -- this ought to make it much fairer on everyone and hopefully a little easier to judge. It's also very hard to determine a person's effort -- imagine someone sitting over a paper for hours, trying their very best, who only comes up with a three or so versus an experienced artist who can sit down and spit out thirteen killer art pieces in a couple minutes (I'm exaggerating here ^^) and receives a five. It'd be very difficult for me to judge, I can assure you that xD
But again, it's a very neat idea and I'm open to having a few special competitions for it!

Hey all! So now that the poll is over, I think I'm going to choose to include the random events only. I know rider traits was a close second, but because some people have really developed their barn owners/riders as characters, I don't want to force any less-than-pretty stats on a character whose bio would suggest otherwise c: Hopefully that's all right with you all. So the shows will be revamped from today to tomorrow morning, and if all goes well, all disciplines will have a show to enter in by Monday! From then on, we'll be having shows each weekend, and there must be at least three entries for a show to run. Registration for the shows will be up shortly, so keep an eye on the showing page.
Also, I'll be adding another poll question, so please let me know your opinion on that once I get it up! This one will probably be over much more quickly. ^^

I have a made, Lia.

hello, bonjour
please call me believe
herro der mes amis, i am believe. proud canadian, ottb loving, colt breaking, nfr dreaming. pictured on the left is my racetrack reject, landofmakebelieve, aka molly, moo, shmoo, whatever name comes to mind x] molly is a 10 year old canadian bred thoroughbred mare, and standing at about 16.2hh, we look a little wonky when we chase cans, but la dee da that's alright. molly and i tried several disciplines. i tried desperately to get her to catch on to dressage, but unfortunately, she still has the race bred mind and is all go. however, together we found a discipline which we could both enjoy; western gaming. this summer we started travelling to barrel races locally. our current record on a standard size pattern is 17.314 and we are improving with every run. and to all the low budget barrel racers out there such as myself, a word of advise; chin up darling. you may not have a million dollar mount under your butt, but you and your crossbred, rejected, hard headed, rescue baby can do it. you know why? cause those girls sitting in their custom circle y's, upon shiny, top of the line mounts are full of themselves. they think there's no way they can lose. they get cocky. stay humble, believe in yourself, in your horse, and most importantly ride your little heart out.
