You spend the entire day sketching and planning the layout of the decorations for the shrine using the gems that Carter had prepared. By the time the sun had set, you had gotten a pretty good plan of what Thatcher needed to do for his "decorating project". Proudly, you show your ideas to Carter. He regards your scribbles with enthusiasm.

"Hey, that looks pretty good! Good job!"

You beam, watching as Carter carefully tucks the plan into the padded crate and seals it up. Before he does so, he rummages through the box for a while, seeming to look for something. As the lid of the crate pops shut, he turns to face you.

"There! I'll take this to Thatcher in the morning, an' I'll tell him about the plans you thought up for him! An' I want you to have this, as a reward for helpin' me out today!"

He hands you a small stone, worn smooth by the constant ocean waves. You're a little disappointed at first, expecting one of the many geodes and gems, but you find that the stone, ever-so-warm to the touch, is oddly charming. You thank Carter and head on your way home.

As you approach Carter’s cabin today, spring in your step, you notice that he seems to be be deep in thought. After standing there for a while, waiting for him to notice you as he had always done, you decide to take matters into your own hands and walk up to him. He still hasn't noticed you by the time you were within a foot of him, so you gently reach over and tap his shoulder. He starts, jolting slightly as he turns to look at you.

"Oh hey, I didn’t see you there! How are ya?"

You tell him that you're doing fine, but are more curious as to what's gotten him so pensive.

"Well, I bumped into Egg a while back, an' he seemed pretty down... Apparently someone snuck up on him when he was napping an' drew chickens all over his face. I think he'd appreciate someone tryin' to cheer him up; maybe you could find some flowers to give to him to make 'im feel better? I’d do it myself, but I’m. Uh. Nevermind."

He pauses abruptly, offering you a shaky smile. You shrug off Carter's weird actions.

It's not fun getting made fun of, and even less so when
someone hits you when you're not awake to realize it!
Flowers are always a nice gift to get, though, so maybe it will cheer Egg right up!
