New Rules Regarding Severe Showing Injuries

In the past, certain injuries (bowed tendon, hock injury, suspensory injury) had the potential to entirely disqualify a horse from invitational competition. I've realized since that such a penalty isn't totally realistic (as a horse with such an injury will be disadvantaged in every showing scenario) nor necessarily fair, so we have decided to modify it instead to a showing penalty. This penalty will affect a horse permanently (save for a certain action, which is detailed below), and is as follows for each discipline:

Hunters: -7.5 points
Jumpers: +6 seconds
Cross-Country: +22.5 seconds
Dressage: -6%
Western Pleasure: -7.5 points
Reining: -7.5 points
Barrel Racing: +1.5 seconds
Cutting: -6 points
Carriage Driving: -7.5 points
Driven Dressage: -7.5%
Marathon: +22.5 seconds
Stadium Driving: +6 seconds
Performance Halter: -3%

Additionally, we recognize the ever-quickening advancement of veterinary technology and are fully aware that owners of high-level horses undoubtedly want to restore their horses to their former prowess. As such, RVEC now offers a cutting-edge therapy that owners can choose to undertake. The therapy has a 70% chance of complete success, in which case the penalty will be permanently removed. There is a 20% chance that the therapy will partially reduce the penalty (by about 66%), and a 10% chance that the therapy will be completely ineffective. Should an owner not receive the desired result, they can choose to undertake the therapy as many times as they'd like, up to once per week. Keep in mind, however, that the therapy costs 5,000c per treatment period - it is up to you as the owner how much money is worth spending on your horse! The partially reduced penalties look as such:

Hunters: -2.5 points
Jumpers: +2 seconds
Cross-Country: +7.5 seconds
Dressage: -2%
Western Pleasure: -2.5 points
Reining: -2.5 points
Barrel Racing: +0.5 seconds
Cutting: -2 points
Carriage Driving: -2.5 points
Driven Dressage: -2.5%
Marathon: +7.5%
Stadium Driving: +2 seconds
Performance Halter: -1%

This rule change affects the following horses, and goes into effect starting today. While there will be a standardized system for requesting the therapy in the future, I wanted to release the update today to give owners a chance to remedy those showing penalties. For now, if you'd like to try the therapy, send me a private message saying so and I will alert you to the results as soon as possible.

out of curiosity, i took a few stats from this week's shows, just to evaluate how we're doing overall:
we had a total of 158 entries this week, 116 of which actually competed.
93 individual horses competed this week.
18 individual classes ran, from all three disciplines.
i just wanted to say a little thank you to everyone for all of your participation, dedication, and hard work; this is so much fun for me every week, and i really hope that you all enjoy it every bit as much as i do! as always, please feel free to contact me with any questions. i'll clean up the show entries sheet shortly and start checking bank accounts this week. until then:
