These little squids are the cutest, don't ch' think ? Naw, I ain't biased or anything just cus I'm on their team, loved these things long befor' joining ya'll on this great cruise. Name's a dumbo squid, an' honest, those 'uge innocent eyes are so hard to find 'round where I crash. If animals, 'specially sea animals, lived fer more than a few weeks down 'ere, I'd steal 'em and take 'em home, I will. But I can't be wasting water on these things, ya know? So I hafta just look at 'em and call it a day. ...if you see any, mind lettin me know?

PIPPING PLOVERS !!
I mean,, obviously I'm a bird lover, what did you expect?

Did you know, Piping Plovers run quickly along the beach stopping frequently to pull or pick an invertebrate from the sand?
When they are not foraging they spend their time away from the water's edge where they blend in with the sand!
Males face each other and perform a "parallel-run display," a sort of cat and mouse game. One bird runs a short distance and stops. Then the other bird runs past the first and stops. They continue this chasing game until they run out of room, at which point they chase each other back to the start. We should check it out someday, perhaps they will let us join in?

If not we could watch this Oscar winning short movie, Piper! It's about a little Pipping & it's absolutely adorable!

Mac stands up, proudly.
He's holding a tiny pink notebook with white hearts, he quickly fixes his glasses, then opens the notebook.
With an ahem, he starts reading.
"I felt so inspired by these amazing critters, I wrote the following haiku, titled,
Bright Blue Horizons and Shallow Sandy Waters."

Water knights, ancient
Living fossils swim, searching,
Scanning ocean floors

Mac slowly closes the notebook, holding it tight to his chest.
Everyone stares at him with a confused expression, as someone breaks the silence with an awkward cough.
"Yeeeeaah, I should've just titled it The Horseshoe Crab instead, my bad."

Sakura looks a at the kit with a smile, and takes out a few small pictures, some a bit crumpled.
"When I went to the beach a few years ago, I went scuba diving and saw a bunch of little spiky purple things!"

She hands Timothy a few pictures, and oddly enough, when you look at them for too long, they appear to move slightly.




"My guide told me they were called sea urchins, and there were a ton of different kinds of them out there!
I like the purple ones though, they're very unique. I thought they were some sort of really weird rock or plant
at first, but they're actually animals! Cute little spiky ball animals!" Sakura says with a soft smile and visible
excitement.

"I'm sure we could find a few of them around her if we looked hard enough! They may not be purple, but I'm
sure they'll be as spiky and beautiful as ever! Just be careful, and don't touch them!"
