It's been 4 months and we already have so many things different around here!
We now have 15 horses now! 5 Mare's, 5 stallions and 5 foals! And we are also expanding! I will be sure to update everybody on our new adventures once we finalize the expansion but we have a ton of new things to add to the property I am so excited and can't wait!
We will soon be offering our Stallions up for Stud for fees as well to bring in Money for our ranch so be on the lookout for that!
With 15 horses and it's been a while since I've updated everybody I decided to give you guys some information on all the grown horses and their progress here!
Mare Barn:
1. Wonder Lust - I know you all know Wonder but I wanted to show you her progress here at RHT Stables! Wonder came in with a very strong mind and will to learn but had some things she was struggling with. Including but not limited to, Cross tying, changing leads, side-passing, would only jump up to 2ft and would refuse anything over that, she was scared of water obstacles on the cross country course and would spook with small animals on trails! Since then she has gotten SO much better! We are now jumping 3ft with hardly any refusing, she cross ties like a champ, changes leads and picks up a lead from a stop to a trot and a stop to a canter as well which is wonderful and she has really improved on her side passing! She still is having a bit trouble on one side and will catch her hind legs together so we are definitely still working on that. Also we have done a TON of water work! We started off going to the exercise pool A LOT. We also went to the creek and learned to walk through it, over it, back through it, side pass through it, and even trot or canter through it WITHOUT jumping it in fear lol! We then stepped it up to round pen work with a tarp resembling water. Once she was good with all those things we moved onto real water obstacles in the arena and out on the cross country course and she has gotten so much more confidence out there!
2. Harmony's Dance - Harmony had a pretty rocky start out here on the ranch. Wonder wasn't too fond of her from the start, she wouldn't kick or bite at her or anything and they would graze together but when it came to feeding time she was a totally different horse and would get very territorial over her food which she never did before. I beleive they finally have overcome their differences and are the best of friends especially now that they get a ton of time together in the mare/foal pasture with their babies lol. Harmony was basic trained in dressage and jumping, since then we have expanded those grounds and have some experience on the cross country course and she has done great! Very calm and collected mare, nothing I put infant of her seems to phase her at all! Her babies seem to be the same way so I definitely look forward to that!
3. Dancing Ruler - Dancer I got from a friend who didn't click with her very well. She's a very sweet mare but did have a horrible attitude when it came to groundwork. She would pin her ears and act up when you would ask her to change directions or slow down and would likely do the opposite. She also has kicked out a few times and reared towards me when she doesn't like something I ask of her. She was very disobedient which likely was just a training issue with a previous trainer who let her get away with it. With a little bit of work she has come around quite a bit but still will act up every once in a while if she's having a bad day or knows its close to feeding time or if her friends are in sight *face palm*. She is very smart though and specializes in dressage! She would act up under saddle for my friend (Who rode western) and asked me to work with her to see if we could find where the issue was. Turns out she prefers English haha! So that's where I ended up deciding to take her and see what we could work out.
4. Pretty-In Pink - Pink is SUCH a gorgeous girl! She came in as an unbroken broodmare but the breaking process has been quite easy! She's very curious and we seem to have a great connection. She's very obvious with her body language so its very known she's scared or confused before she reacts which is much preferred on my end! She now has an adorable little foal who is the cutest thing ever and they are so playful out in the pasture compared to the other mares! The other mare's usually just continue grazing or pin their ears if the foals get too rowdy near them, but Pink will play right along with them its the cutest thing ive ever seen!
5. Blue Jean - Jean is one of the newer mare's around here. I havent gotten to know her too well but she is a very skilled horse. I got her from a locale venter who was training her but didn't have the time for her and all her other horses so she decided to sell! This mare is phenomenal and has showing experience, is very skilled in groundwork and liberty work, does level 2 dressage and training for 3, jumps 3.5ft and is experienced in cross country as well! Very nice mare and so excited to work with her more and see what we can accomplish together!
Stallion Barn
6. Charismatic Apello - Apello Is a Doll. He is honestly the sweetest stallion I have ever been around! He doesn't act like a stud in ANY way! Very Smart stud! He specializes in cross country and has had a hard time adapting to the dressage world. He didn't have very good leg training when he came in which made it quite hard to transition to dressage so we have slowed it down a ton and gone back to basics under saddle to get him prepared for dressage. He has been doing okay, still a bit confused but I have no problem spending extra time getting him going!
7. Hillsong Royal - Royal! Oh the things I could say about this stallion! He is drop dead gorgeous to start off! He has QUITE the personality, and is a little trickster as well but definitely makes for a fun time! Probably my favorite ride of the day! He has so much energy and can go non stop for hours without breaking a gait! He is so willing and in shape, I got him from a local trainer and he must have worked him every single day I can't imagine getting this endurance anyway else! He is a jumping bean on the cross country course and is quite fast! I will say I have beaten my time record on our course at the Ranch with this guy right here! I am so proud have him here at RHT Stables, He is going to be a wonderful addition to our ranch and is definitely an eye catcher!
8. Travelers Past - Traveler is a troubled guy. I bought him sight unseen and a lot of the imformation they gave me during purchase turned out to be incorrect or a lie. Which is fine, He was located over 8 hours away there was no way I would be able to make that drive right now so I knew it was a possibility I could be walking into a work in progress horse instead of a ready to show horse like they had claimed. He is a good horse, But he is going to need completely restarted as he is very confused under saddle and the *cues* I figured out that he knew were very.. Odd to say the least. He is currently being retrained, one of my other trainers is focusing on him specifically to bring him around to get started towards retraining for 3 day eventing.
9. Thunder Jagger - I picked up Thunder and Mars over the last 2 days! Thunder is a little timid I beleive its going to take a lot of time to bring him around to start working under saddle safely. He is very jumpy and spooky so I don't want to risk any miscommunication or fear to result in an accident that would put me behind on the ranch overall so he is going to be strictly groundwork for now.
10. Mars War - I just picked up Mars yesterday, He is beyond gorgeous! We wanted to bring a lot of color into our bloodlines and for our Stables to have a variety of different options for outside stables making it more desirable for Stud coverings for their mares! Definitely look forward to working with Mars but as of right now hes still settling in and im giving him some time to get comfortable before trying him out!
