Rocco wakes up far more peacefully than they had the previous morning, but it takes them a while before they remember where they are. After yesterday’s stardust collecting took them a whole day’s trip away from their house, they’d decided to stay at their grandmother’s home for the night since they were in their hometown anyway. It had been years since they last visited, but their grandmother had welcomed them with open hooves anyway (although, she would’t stop reminding them to visit more often).
Rocco is tempted to stay in bed for just a little longer, but they hear some distant clanging and chopping, and they realize their grandmother must be up. They climb out of bed and head out into the kitchen, and as Rocco expected, Grammy is making breakfast.

“Mornin’, Grammy,” Rocco greets as a huge yawn escapes their mouth.

“Good morning, Cocoa dear. I’m sorry if I woke you with all this noise, I just haven’t cooked for you in so long that I got excited,” Grammy says with a large grin. “I’m making strawberry pancakes, your favorite!”

Rocco gives their grandmother a soft smile and take a seat at the dining table, resting their head on the wood and taking in all the noise and smells. They still felt tired even after a full night’s sleep.

“Cocoa, are you feeling alright? Have any more strange dreams?” Grammy asks as she flips the pancakes with expert precision.

“Well, now that you mention it… Grammy, do you know anywhere I can find fairy feathers?” Rocco asks.

Grammy sets down a plate of pancakes and syrup by Rocco’s face and takes a seat in the chair across from them. “Fairy feathers, eh? When I was just a little lamb I would explore the woods behind this very house, and I probably found dozens over the years. I had a whole collection that I’d stored in my favorite places around the woods, but my memory of those places have long since faded.” She looks apologetically at Rocco.

“It’s okay, Grammy! I know where to look now, at least.” Rocco says. “Thank you. I’ll head there later.” They try to sound cheerful, but they’re truthfully a bit worried. Would they be able to find any feathers by the end of today?

After breakfast, Rocco sets off into the woods, with their messenger bag full of snacks their grandmother had insisted they bring. They prefer the cool shade of the forest to the hot sun - wearing a sweater got hard sometimes when it was summer. Humming to themselves, they travel deeper and deeper into the forest, until they aren’t quite sure where they are anymore.
They eventually stumble upon a clearing with a giant ring of mushrooms in the center. Rocco recognized it from the stories their grandmother used to tell - this was a fairy ring. Which meant there had been fairies here, no doubt.
Careful not to step into the ring, they gently peek under the mushroom caps and poke into bushes, but no feathers turn up. They’re about to go search somewhere else when something flashes in the corner of their eye, but when they turn to see it, there’s nothing there.

“Hello?” Rocco calls, but there’s no response. However, their eyes land somewhere they haven’t checked yet - a tree with a large hole in it. When they come up to the tree, it becomes clear that there’s something in it.

From within the tree, Rocco pulls out a piece of old, wrinkled paper, and three fairy feathers. They’re ecstatic that they found the feathers at last, but they’re even more excited about the paper. This must belong to Grammy, they think.

The writing on the paper is faded, and mold covers some of the words, but Rocco can make some of them out:

“Dear fairies,
You can have these feathers back if you come out and play with me next time I visit! I promise you I won’t hurt you, I’m reeeeally nice, and my papa says I’m always really gentle with my baby sister too, so that’s proof! I just want to be your friend!”

The rest of the writing is illegible. Rocco laughs out loud, pocketing both the feathers and the paper. They’ll have to show Grammy when they go home.

New prompt is up!
All prizes are determined by RNG; some prizes had a higher chance of rolling than others.
Prize Pool (prompt two) wrote:-Fairy Friends (adds up to five butterflies flying around your lambie) 1-25
-Bottled Fae's Song (adds iridescent small to medium sized feathered wings to your lambie) 26-40
-Rainbow's Blessing (adds two random colors to a dreamfusion palette, must be used when submitting ticket) 41-57
-25 Gems 57-72
-Fairy Fire (adds blue/green fire around your lambie) ((i.e. flaming paws, will'o wisps, flame near the tail/face, etc.)) 73-82
-Fairy Flowers (adds a flower accessory to your lambie) ((i.e. flower crown, flowers in the mane/tail, flower bracelets, flowers at the base of the tail, etc.)) 83-100

@bakuraas. Nai'a smiles wryly as you hand her the bag, perhaps finding it strange to use such a small bag for what she expects to be only a few feathers. If that's what she's thinking, she doesn't say anything, though she shocked expression on her face when she sees how many feathers you collected give her away. "I haven't seen this many fairy feathers in one place since..." She looks back to you, smiling warmly. "I'm not going to ask, but good job. Really." Suddenly, the bag you gave her yesterday is at her side. She picks it up and hands it to you. "Thank you." You're awake just a second later, the empty stardust bag clenched in your arms where the other bag once was. You look up, and see a small group of colorful butterflies fluttering around you. (+Fairy Friends)

@Rylf Nai'a bears your excitement with annoyance plain across her face. Still, she accepts the feathers graciously, turning each one over once in a quick inspection. "Well done." She says dryly. You're awake a breath later, and find a shimmering glass vial beside you. It seems empty, but hums with energy. (+Bottled Fae's Song)

@Gremlin Nai'a accepts the feather wordlessly, her face unreadable. For a moment, it seems like she'll send you away without a word, but instead she pauses. She looks at the feather in her paw, then back up at you. "Thanks." The realm of clouds dissolves a second later, leaving you awake but safely in your nest. The area around you is lit with small, floating plumes of greenish-blue flame, though something tells you they're different from the wisps you're used to seeing. (+Fairy Fire)

@Ravenwhisper's Wish "Glad you didn't get stuck again." Nai'a isn't smiling - you have no idea if she's joking or not, or if was being rude. She was probably being rude, though. She takes the bottle carefully, twisting it once to watch the feather turn inside. "Strange, but good find." You're awake a few seconds later, though the jump from dreaming to not isn't any less sudden. There's a small pile of strange, beatiful flowers by your bed. (+Fairy Flowers)

@saccharine. Nai'a looks each of the three feathers over briefly before looking back to you. "Good job on finding these - it's rare to find more than one at a time." She places the feathers on the clouds, which seem to pull the feathers down and envelope them in pastel plush. Huh. Weird. "Looks like you have a knack for finding rare things. Keep it up." You decide not to try to explain how you came across the feathers, and wake uo in your bed a moment later. There's a small plume of greenish-blue flame hovering a few inches off the ground nearby, though you don't feel any hear from it. Strange, but pretty! (+ Fairy Fire)

I'm off to pick flowers!

Iso looked up from the ground, shaking his head and letting snow fall off of his face. It felt almost real, but part of Iso wondered if this was still a dream...that he would wake up to find Grandma Birdwing and his dad keeping the butterflies he got this morning all fed and happy. In some way, the idea of that being the case kept Iso steadfast on his mission. He supposed he had been doing good enough so far, and Nai'a still needed the team's help.

The world around him swirled with small flakes of snow, were they...really that far up north now? Or perhaps was it something having to do with Iso's imagination? He couldn't really tell at the moment, but admired the sights around him. The snowy mountains protecting the valley, the cloudy sky that seemed to swirl with all sorts of colors, and of course the lilies that painted the valley. Auroras and snow...it was like some of the books Iso used to be read as a kid...The memory made Iso smile, knowing he had some time, especially since he knew to only pick one.

However, as suddenly as he felt that moment of silent peace, he heard a harsh noise that sent him on alert. The snapping sounds of roots being pulled from the earth, and in a way, it was almost as if the plant being pulled was screaming for help. Iso raised himself from the ground fully, Zipping his jacket up fully as he bolted towards the sound. He was careful not to trample any of the lilies, his paws practiced with the tight spaces thanks to the fairy stones. Eventually, he stopped, looking out into the distance and seeing another Lambicorn, this time cloaked entirely in white.

Iso didn't need to look fully before he bolted towards them, already feeling something was amiss. And when he got there, facing the other lambicorn, he saw why he felt that way. At least 20 or so flowers were under their arm, and it was clear their intent was getting more before they left. Iso looked up and saw a lambie with three horns, all sparkling pink, and it almost seemed like clouds decorated their face. Upon seeing Iso, the lambie screamed, and started to beg in a soft, nervous voice. "P-Please don't hex me!"

That confused Iso for a moment, but in that moment, he saw a way he could use it to his advantage here. "Oh, you won't get out of it that easily! Stealing so many flowers from this place! How dare you destroy this beautiful land!" He said, faking a bit of a hiss in his voice and squishing his face up in anger. Though the words were falsified, his tone was real- to think someone could be so selfish. "Drop the flowers, and get out of here! I might be merciful this time, IF I never see you here again!" He continued, and once he stopped he saw the lambicorn drop the flowers and rush off towards where Iso came from.

After a while, Iso looked down at the bundle of flowers, and noticed that all of them still had their roots attached. He softly picked them up, untangling some of the roots from each other as he carefully walked through the valley, trying to find obvious upturned dirt on the snow that would show where they were meant to be. It didn't take too much searching, finding the rich almost-black dirt against the white snow. He treated each plant with care, softly returning them to their homes and making sure their roots were well placed in the dirt. If he didn't know better, it almost seemed like each plant he returned shimmered and made a soft noise of appreciation. Even if it was just in his head, he admittedly said a soft 'you're welcome!' every time he heard it.

Eventually, he was down to one flower, and was reminded of his original task. He looked over to the flower, and then down to the patch in the snow that they belonged in. He sighed softly, but looked over to the flower. Would talking to a flower directly be weird? Minerva did it a lot but...with recent developments Iso didn't find that very surprising anymore. Besides, Minerva was a fairy...and Iso was just a normal lambicorn...there was no way he could actually...ask? Either way, he gathered the courage to speak towards the plant in his arms. "Uhm...excuse me, Aurorae's Heart Flower? May I take you with me? Someone asked me to get one of you...and I'm sure she has good reasons..." Before he could come up with more excuses, more to himself than to the plant, he saw the aurora in the plant move to have it's green shine brighter than any other color before returning to normal. "I'll...assume that's a yes?" He laughed, partially out of humor, and partially out of shock.

Of course, he wasn't going to leave quite yet. He still needed to make sure the place wasn't even a little bit torn up. He covered up where the flower would be, though taking some of the rich soil for himself. He put the rich soil into the small bag that seemed to be the staple of the journey for him, making sure that there were no butterflies in it before putting the soil in. It definitely wasn't a lot, but it would do for travelling. Carefully, he put the flower into the bag as well, making it so that the flower would peek out of the bag and hit any sunlight they might see, while also having roots in the soil. Iso smiled, making sure the bag wouldn't close on the flower, and watching as this flower seemed to cheer happily as well.

Iso couldn't help but grin as he began to walk, especially seeing as the flowers shimmered in the snow, and hearing something a little bit new...almost like singing. Somewhere in his heart, as he got to where he had started in the valley, he hoped that he could come back here someday...

As soon as they found themselves in the clearing Lambent was filled with a sense of familiarity. Long ago they had roamed these fields. But that was before, before the other more perfect lambicorns had been created, once these flowers had bloomed throughout Castellina. Lambent surveyed the expanse of snow-covered ground, watching as the flowers pulsed. They felt a sense of calm wash over them, it was almost as if they were back in the before times, where their dreams weren’t monstrosities made to be replaced. Lambent sighed, no, nothing could change the fact that they had failed as a bringer of dreams. As they sulked, they gently floated above the rows of flowers, listening to the harmony of collective humming emanating from the flowers.
As they sought out the perfect flower to return with, their thoughts turned to Nai’a. The younger lambicorn was troubled, that much was obvious, and her dreams carried the same unstable energy as their own. Lambent suddenly halted, for there, in the midst of the pulsing flowers was a single white flower, refusing to follow the others in their pulsing colors. Lambent gently encased the flower in an orange ball of smoke and brought it by their side. The flower floated along with them as they continued floating through the flowers. It wouldn’t hurt to stay a bit longer, pretend everything was the same as when they first roamed the world. During their stroll a flash of movement startled them, they looked about to see the source of the movement. To their surprise they watched as a small lambicorn replanting the flowers. They were certainly young, perhaps even a child. Lambent noted with some interest that this child has some amount of fae in them. Not a full breed per say but certainly enough to be noticeable in their aura. Few knew where the flowers grew and even within the fae the secret was well kept. As the child finished their last planting and began to head back with a small flower Lambent followed.
The child wound through the forest and eventually walked to a pile of rubble. Lambent was treated to a welcome sight, pacing about within the rubble was none other than their mate.
Lambent floated down to greet Grimm, nuzzling them gently.
“Hello love.” They smiled warmly at the masked lambicorn before them. Grimm may have had the mask upon their face but over the thousands of years the two had known each other, Lambent had become adept at reading Grimm’s body language. Grimm seemed to be stressed before they approached but was soon relaxing a bit as they nuzzled them.
“And what are you doing here darling?” Grimm cooed and swished their tail in content.
“The young one has tasked me and my fellow teammates with the most excellent task of procuring these bodacious flowers.”
Grimm looked confused “Bodacious? Is this a term from your book?” Lambent nodded and bounced a bit.
“never mind, the more pressing question is that of why the young one sent you to gather these flowers.”
Lambent playfully smirked and floated away leaving Grimm slightly confused, Grimm shook their head with a smile (Lambent could always tell when Grimm smiled) and went about their pacing. Lambent summoned a bit of energy to shift back to their cave in order to curl up and visit Nai’a once more.
When they approached the young elder they lay down the flower before her and bowed slightly.
“I come with some most heinous information! The most totally outstanding Grimm has sent their team to retrive the same flowers as you.”
With that they trotted away, awaiting the confused response from Nai’a

Hello!
I have posted the prompt for 8/6, and you are now able to respond to it!
However, the prompt for 8/5 is still open! It will be closed at its regular time (1:30 CST), so you still have time to respond to it if you haven't yet. You may also answer both prompts at once of you so choose. Happy plant collecting!
Say, do you think Team Nightmare is up to anything more entertaining?

I'm going into the scary swamp for moss!
Username: bakuraas.

[1092 words ]
Iso knew this was one of those missions that he couldn't tell his dad about, and especially not Grandma Birdwing. Papa Phoebus might know more...but he wasn't going to tell him either. Both his dads always told him about the Bog of Nightmares, and always told him to stay away from it. And yet, somehow Iso wasn't afraid of the bog itself. He had never been there, and from what he heard it still seemed like an interesting place- if a bit scary. Iso didn't really feel fear as he walked on his way to the bog, instead the emotion was more like worry...concern. Nai'a seemed upset...and Iso really didn't want her to be upset, despite not really knowing her as anything more than the Team Dream Leader.

Eventually, as he thought of all the ways he could try to improve Nai'a's mood when he got back, he felt the air turn heavy, and the light of the sky seem to disappear. Oh, this was absolutely the bog, No doubt about it. Nervousness overtook him for a moment, but then he remembered part of what he was told. 'Just don't go in too deep and you should be fine.' He thought. Surely, he wouldn't be unlucky enough to not find any! And when it came to the Wisps, from what he knew- they glowed too...He just had to avoid the blue glow, and go grab the green glow! Easy-peasy!

Iso took a moment to take in the surroundings before really walking inside, keeping an eye out for anything that glowed, to little avail at the start. All he saw was dark clouds, shady trees, and some of the shimmering coming from whatever light hit the mud and water. Though he hadn't found any moss yet, he also hadn't seen any wisps- so he supposed that he couldn't tell if the adventure was going well or not. If anything, it gave him more time to think about what he could do to try and make Nai'a feel better from whatever made her so cold before. He wondered if she'd like a stuffed animal...maybe it was worth a shot? Though, of course he understood that the glowmoss took priority over a needlefelted doll.

Suddenly, his attention was summoned by a glow coming from a little bit away. Thankfully, when he looked over- he saw that the glow was definitely green. He smiled as he walked over, fully seeing the glowmoss in all it's glory. It was a decent patch, accompanied with other small patches of glowmoss on a broken off piece of a tree. It wasn't that big of a piece of tree, mind you- it was small enough for Iso to carry it- though the bag probably wouldn't be used this time around. He considered taking the moss off the wood and putting it in his bag, but he felt it was better if the moss went on a trip away from home with friends! Along with his worry over if the bag would dry out the moss.

He picked up the slab of wood, moving it so that he could hold it in his jacket while still letting the moss get some outside air. And yet, after he put the moss away, he realized the glowing area wasn't any dimmer. He thought it was strange for a second, but only for a second. A shiver ran down his spine as he realized...the glow wasn't green anymore. He turned around slowly, unable to see the path he took to get here for a moment, as his sight was blocked by a large, blue wisp. It took everything in him not to scream, it took everything in him not to cry, it took everything in him to not freeze up in panic. Instead, all that tension building in his mind went to his legs as he bolted past the wisp and back where he came from. He needed to leave. Now.

He didn't think much about if the Wisp was following him, or if there were any more wisps that saw him, or even if there was a big scary creature coming after him. He only thought about the path he took to get to the glowmoss, looking down and up rapidly so that he could see where he was going while also being as agile as possible. If he tripped and fell now...no, he didn't want to think about what would happen then. After what seemed like hours full of running, though it was probably only a few minutes, Iso saw the darkness of the bog interrupted by the light of the sky. That almost seemed to make him run even faster for that final stretch, causing the lambicorn to burst out of the darkness with great intensity, screeching to a halt as soon as the light hit his fur.

A Sigh of relief left him, and he looked down- assuring that the moss was still intact. Not only was it intact, it seemed unharmed by the rush that Iso took to get out of there. Iso smiled at this, carefully taking the moss and heading back where he came. He could say that his walk back was uninterrupted...but that would be a lie.

All things considered...he was excited for the crafts booth, and he did know he had a bit of time until everyone had to report back to Nai'a. He tried his best to use what he could find on the way back to make a nice little garden for the moss. Of course, the first step was the carefully remove the glowmoss from the wood, and move it to a container. Iso didn't have a real container, so he made his own out of the wood- using a sharp stone he found to carve a dip into the wood, which definitely took a while- but he had the time. He put some soil into the new container he made, leaving a small area for a few smooth rocks he found by a stream on the way.

Iso then finally placed the moss onto the soil, decorating around them with the smooth rocks. He thought it looked nice, and hoped that Nai'a would at least look at it before possibly destroying it. Of course, with the moss not fully settled now, Iso had to carry the little glowmoss garden steady with one of his paws as he continued back to Nai'a.

You know, now that he thought about it...maybe he should have done this when he was closer to his destination.
