Writing: It didn't seem to matter how many times he entered the ring; it was still such an overwhelming experience. Maybe that was why he had a hard time placing. His owner reassured him that she didn't mind; sometimes dogs just weren't cut out for certain things. Still, she brought the curly haired Beaumont Collie to every single show; hoping against odds that he would glean something out of the experience. He felt anxiety ramping up in the pit of his deep set chest. It was almost their turn to walk the circle. Alright, Halcyon, you've got this: head up high, chest out, tail up like a flag and curled perfectly. He could do this, he told himself, pacing his little paws back and forth. He could do this. Writing: Margot knew she was to behave during these events, but oh, she hated doing them. She preferred herding and agility, ways to work out all of her pent up energy. No, no matter how much she worked, her brain just said: go! go! go! The sleek collie looked up at her handler in distaste, as if to ask, 'really? must we do this?' The handler looked back down at her with a sigh, "please, Margot. Just behave." If dogs could roll their eyes, she would've. She lapped at her paws a few times, preening them to perfection. If she must do this, she would do it right. Perhaps just this one time. [112/100 min]

Writing: Ducks! Who would've known ducks were so entrancing? Halcyon had thought this sort of a funny thing - herding a group of these little things into a pen - but he'd become so utterly enraptured with it. He found himself jumping antsily for his turn. Watching the other dogs ahead of him work was enjoyable, but man, he just wanted his turn! He looked up at his owner, letting out a soft whine. She gave him a melodious chuckle back, ruffling the curls on top of his head. "It's okay, buddy, you're up next." Next! He knew that word! He let out a soft boof in response, trying to prepare himself. Ducks, glorious ducks! [112/100 min]

Writing: Goats, she'd heard her handler call them. Goats were such weird little creatures - quick to run and bleat, but as she'd found out her first time around - some would turn back on her and charge. Margot had walked away from her first foray into herding goats with a knot on her head; a sore reminder that she couldn't just push these things around like she could the other dogs at home. She watched as the collies before her competed, sitting patiently at her handler's side. Margot took mental notes; how to move in time with the creatures, how to move and when to bark. She felt like she had a better understanding this time. "Alright, Margot, your turn," her handler's gruff voice snapped her out of her trance, and she looked up at him expectantly. Well, here went nothing. [139/100 min]

Writing: Agility was one of Halcyon's favourite things to do, if he were honest. He loved weaving through sticks, running through tunnels - it felt like flying, moving at the speed of sound and watching his owner for her every cue. It really was somewhere between flying and dancing, but he hadn't realised how much he depended on his owner until last week's event. His owner had gotten hurt during their training sessions and had sent him to MX with a stand-in handler. He had such a hard time reading their cues that it'd been a mess - his first real failure in the agility events. He came home ashamed, but was surprised to find his owner giving him treats and love despite it all. Now that she was back on her feet, they walked into the arena together confidently. He looked up at her, still uneasy about her twisted ankle. She could feel his eyes on her, and she looked down with a warm smile to ease his fears. It'd be okay, she unspokenly ruffled his fur. He leaned up against it, giving a soft boof. It'd be okay! [187/100 min]

Writing: Lately Margot had an itch she couldn't quite scratch. It wasn't so much a physical itch as much as a mental one. Something was misfiring in her brain, something keeping her distracted in her training sessions with her handler. Still, they'd persevered through it all and were back to try again at the Novice Agility. She felt a bit different today; still like a loaded gun, but like she could feel the world around her again. Margot walked in time with her handler, tail and head up in confidence. She'd ace this, she told herself. No more fooling around. A lady had to make a name for herself, and she would. [111/100 min]
