One second he was reading a strange letter adressed to him (who would even write to him in the first place?) and another he was standing right in front of the major gate leading up to the city that seemed to be fully bustling out. He could hear faint music coming from the one of the streets and if anything he learnt about the Living Plane so far was that you can't be in wrong by simply following the music. (Right?)
1. THE STREETS wrote:He stepped into pure chaos. Crowds of fables were walking here and there, talking and laughing all around. They seemed to be in rather good spirits, most of them were smiling. Some were in a rush, others were strolling rather slowly. None of them looked like they realized he stepped in, which made him quite content.
He stopped for a brief moment to get a better glance around. Was there something happening around these days in the city, or was it always look so lively? Giving it a brief thought, he deducted it might have been always like this. What he firstly called chaos turned out to be a well-thought-out. Despite many fables moving constantly, none of them seemed to bump into each other. They were moving in a fluent way, with almost a choreographical precision with perfect awareness of each other.
It occured to him that there was no way he could do the same. He could blink around, but he could feel thick air charged with powerful magic of unfamiliar origin around him. His ears could pick up a faintly buzzing static noone else seemed to notice. No, it would definitely not be wise to start using his own magic in the environment that was completely unknown to him. He was oblivious, not reckless.
He slowly started walking forward, hoping to find a less attended spot in the city. He walked past by the fountain feeling the gust of energy flowing inside him. A source, perhaps? He was curious but first and foremost already tired of the crowdness around him, so he decided that the water imbued with magic has to wait for him to investigate further the other time.
And finally, his eyes spotted a small side street, hidden between two tall buildings. Majority of fables were only passing by it and weren't look like they were interesting in going there, which made it a perfect place for him to go now.
2. THE EMBASSY wrote:Right after he stepped in, the world behind him got weirdly quiet. He could barely hear all the hustle he left on the main street. The buzzing static got louder in his head, yes, but he welcomed that change with some sort of relief. A familiar noise, even if it was the annoying one, was much better than cascade of voices which felt like an attack from each side.
He happily realized that he can wrap up his mind and focus again.
The small street he was walking through didn't seem that long at first, but in fact it took him quite awhile before he found himself standing at the end of it, right in front of a quite intimidating-looking building. A few fables were walking one way or another, but it definitely wasn't the place of the favored attendance.
THE EMBASSY.
He heard it loud and clear and could have sworn there was someone standing right next to him, who said it out loud directly into his ears. (Into my head.) He quickly turned around but there was not a single creature close enough to be able to do such thing. Tired. Tired and overwhelmed, that's how you are now. Hearing voices? Not an unusual occurence, but unexpected right now, nevertheless.
Monarch slowly approached the building. From up close it lost the intimidating facade, but was still impressive to look at. The pavement around it was decorated in bright and colorful tiles. The fancy oil lamps were hanging on both sides of the big wooden doors, no doubts - the great entrance. Up above a bunch of lavish garlands were decorating the roof.
His eyes looked around, as he suddenly realized he might be watched with his intentions being questioned, but no guards were to be seen. Strange place. Strange, indeed.
