Tucking his fur under his dusty cap he found, Hunter gave the werm at the gate a half glare and dragged the bones off to the side.
It was a blessing to breathe in the open air again after going down into the deep darkness. it was the air, he thought, the stuffy air that seemed to choke him, grab him, trying to drag him under into nothing. Nothing he can still remember clearly, at least. Nothing before The Point could Hunter recall, only waking up with this big yellow werm leaning over him and pushing down on his chest painfully. As much as he loved Alice, he can't stay his first memory was a good one.
The bones were big, its chest cavity could have fit him snuggly. Shivers go down his spine, but he shrugs it off with a quiet shut up to himself.
Something in his head was telling him this was...important somehow. Someone's voice echoed in his skull, a mockery of what he heard down there. "You're stupid, doctor."
He was there at the dawn of the rising sun, where it seemed the glow was shy and meek, only gently stretching across the still horizon. The worker was only just setting up his booth when Hunter slammed his 6 tokens down.
"We only do two extra now."
He gives the werm a tense look before dragging 2 tickets back. He needed to know. He was sure dying was better than not knowing, and the fear that shook him to his core now only seemed to fuel that burning curiosity that throbbed in his mind, his heart.
"You won't be able to breathe...
So either way you're a casualty"
