I appreciate everyone's input on this ^^ I'll go back to offering regular adopts, then, and if it isn't your breed, then so be it xD
No, artist positions will never be opened for RVEC, and that is not merely a personal preference -- it's just how it has to be. Adopts have been slow because I haven't known what to make -- not because I haven't had the time c: Now that I've got a plan, they should be available much more often.
waldeinsamkeit., if you mean the whole "quarter horses get western bonuses, warmbloods get English bonuses" thing -- I thought I'd mentioned that it had never actually been implemented, but I may have forgotten ^^' I ultimately decided against it because it was too hard to keep track of and too hard to determine the breeds for -- every horse has an equal chance at winning a competition if they've got the stats for it, so there's no need to worry about type and such for now c:

So I've been thinking hard about what to do for rescue barns, and to be honest I'm a bit torn ^^' Since rescues are FCFS and anyone can adopt them (and about 90% of the RVEC population gets there before any rescues), and because rescues really don't get that much of a bonus after adopting horses (since you don't have to pay for horse care anymore), I don't know that there's much point in having them exist as an option... And then the only way for them to get more horses is to breed, which is pretty unrealistic for responsible rescues but a necessity in RVEC! So I've got a few ideas...
-Rescue horses are only adoptable by rescues and those without horses for the first 72 hours, after which they are FCFS to any user
-Rescue mares have a 75% chance of being pregnant upon adoption to rescues and a 25% chance upon adoption to non-rescues
-Rescues receive an X-point bonus in competitions
Or do we just do away with rescue barns entirely and keep rescues the way they are? A combination of these? What do you guys think?
I'm also thinking about adding "training barn" to the list of barns you can have -- what do you all think? It'd be something along the lines of horses up to 3 receiving either 2x the points in training or having added points to trainability up to that age... But maybe only if horses are leased to that barn or something so that no one gets an unfair advantage. I don't know -- thoughts? c:

Personally, I think that the first suggestion, that of rescue horses being only adoptable by rescues for the initial 72 hours, is a good one. I am not too keen on the idea of rescue mares having a higher chance of pregnancy, as I don't think that rescue barns should be focused on producing more horses. Rescue barns responsibly breeding good horses is brilliant, but I don't think that rescue mares should come as pregnant unless it's a significant part of their back story. The competition bonus is a nice idea, but I'm not too certain about the realism in that one.

I personally think the barn size idea should be put into effect. It is MUCH more realistic.
Another thing that we could do though, is ask all users of the aim to keep a tally of all their horses. Then come up with a price that each horse costs to take care of each month and have everyone add up what it costs. So, 200c/month for eight horses costs 1600c per month or something like that. That might encourage people to cut down on their horse count.

hello, bonjour
please call me believe
herro der mes amis, i am believe. proud canadian, ottb loving, colt breaking, nfr dreaming. pictured on the left is my racetrack reject, landofmakebelieve, aka molly, moo, shmoo, whatever name comes to mind x] molly is a 10 year old canadian bred thoroughbred mare, and standing at about 16.2hh, we look a little wonky when we chase cans, but la dee da that's alright. molly and i tried several disciplines. i tried desperately to get her to catch on to dressage, but unfortunately, she still has the race bred mind and is all go. however, together we found a discipline which we could both enjoy; western gaming. this summer we started travelling to barrel races locally. our current record on a standard size pattern is 17.314 and we are improving with every run. and to all the low budget barrel racers out there such as myself, a word of advise; chin up darling. you may not have a million dollar mount under your butt, but you and your crossbred, rejected, hard headed, rescue baby can do it. you know why? cause those girls sitting in their custom circle y's, upon shiny, top of the line mounts are full of themselves. they think there's no way they can lose. they get cocky. stay humble, believe in yourself, in your horse, and most importantly ride your little heart out.

Aha, piaffes, I'm surprised you don't remember that! xD
When I first started RVEC, the idea was to have a weekly care charge sort of thing, based on the amount of horses you owned. Problem was -- it was really, really difficult to keep up with. If you leave it up to the users, it's prone to error, whether intentional or unintentional. I'm sure few even know exactly how many horses they own! And that's not to sound degrading or rude -- there are a lot of horses I've seen that have just been completely forgotten about, and it's simply because this is such an intense sim game. If I did do it, I may be able to make it work as you suggested -- monthly -- because I've got a list of exactly who owns what, but it'd still be an extra stress on me, much as I'd like to put it into place ^^' I'll certainly think about it, though!
