Seeing the makeshift sled, Pennyroyal tugged on Vedaris's claw excitedly
and began jumping up and down. The softspoken werm couldn't contain her excitement
anymore.
"Oh, wow! It's perfect, thank you! I can't wait to put some of these in soil and
see how they do! Maybe if we work hard, we can train the Bellvi--"
Luckily Pennyroyal's eyes were scrunched in glee as she chattered, or else she
might have seen the dark blush steadily creeping up Inia's fluff to her antennae.
"Well, uh...thanks for everything, Ved!" echoed Inia after the excitement had
died down. "These are for you!" The werm rummaged through her pouch before
presenting a bushel of...nine spring flowers. Her brown furrowed before counting
each of them again. "Ah. Shoot. I could have sworn there were more." Inia slumped,
but straightened up to present her gift nonetheless.
"..." The three wermz turned as a newcomer rounded the corner. Their leaves rustled
as they brushed against a canvas curtain hanging in front of the door. Between their
claws, they carried a single spring flower. "I...uhm. Hi."
Pennyroyal squinted. There was something familiar about them...
The newcomer waddled closer, holding out the flower to Inia and then Vedaris. "I, uh,
heard a lot of commotion. ...Thought I'd see what you needed help with...and then
I thought, oh, well, I better get a gift, and...uhm. I took a while to get here."
The pair of smaller wermz blinked, dazed, as the newcomer dug their claws under
the Brickโข supported by Bellvines, and lifted the back end squarely off the dusty ground.
"..."
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" wailed Pennyroyal. "You're so strong!"
"Would ya look at that. What's your name?" asked Inia, slapping him on the back
good-naturedly with a pair of paws.
"...I like the sound of Guilla," they replied shyly.
"Guilla, you should come scavenging with us sometime!" chirped Pennyroyal. "I
don't know if you're busy, but we're planning to go out again later..."
"Yeah, maybe with another pair of paws, Penny won't be so schitzy and we can
actually explore the Ruins for once..."
As the duo--trio chattered excitedly about their future plans, Guilla glanced
over at Vedaris, fidgeting with a familiar toothy pendant around their neck. They
flashed the old harvester a wobbly smile, hoping they were well on their way to
making some friends.
