There's a sparkle in Klee's eye as she reaches for the nearest book, the way she handles it would make most book lovers cringe. Upside down with the spine bending far too outwards for it to be comfortable to read. With a smile she answers, "I'm illiterate !" She was probably way too enthusiastic for that answer but it's her first time using the "big" word aloud and properly; so she can't help but be a little proud of herself. If only Ramsey was here to see her.

The Polar Espresso is completely packed the next time you stop in, all tables and couches spilling over
with kalons enjoying a mid-day caffeine boost with their lunch. As you take your place in line, you see
Suni and Mirjam hurriedly taking orders and making drinks.

The queue goes fairly quickly, all things considered, and soon enough you're giving your order to a
very intense, focused looking Mirjam. Suni spares you a small wave as they place a newly finished
order on the pick-up counter.

Looks like there's no time for small talk today.

With your receipt she gives you the now familiar slip of paper and pencil stub. "New trivia."
She pauses for a second and considers the line behind you. "Feel free to take your time."

Mirjam gives you a nod as you enter the polar espresso but she quickly ducks into the back,
clearly she seems busy but you notice Suni at the counter refilling some of the sugar containers
in between customers.

By now you have a pretty good grasp at the menu and barely need to think about your order
which Suni takes dutifully, clearly theres no time for shenanigans today
"Sorry, we're getting ready for the lunch rush",
they pass you your order and pause, "I dont want to deprive you of our time though,

Nanouk thought for only a second before responding with a direct, "Yes of course I do, who doesn't? Now that doesn't necessarily make it the right thing to do, but its in our nature to try and judge and understand the things around us even though we don't truly know them. If I see a tree fallen in the woods I might initially judge that as a dangerous omen, even though in actuality just the wind blew it over or a lumberjack cut it down to chop wood for his family. It can be the same thing with people, if I meet a salesman trying to pitch me his scheme and based off his smirk I'm a little suspicious, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, if I immediately yell at him or try to fight him thinking he is out to get me, that's when I've taken my judgement too far.
The issue only arises if you take your initial judgement and take it to heart without ever allowing your thoughts to be changed. If I meet someone and immediately think I will never like them because of something I judged about them the first time I saw them, then I've taken it too far. But the fact of having initial thoughts and reservations about people we meet or situations we are in is not a bad thing on its own, like with most things its how we use that information that determines if we are good or bad.
One time there were some fishermen who visited our island, and initially I was wary and judged them to be a little suspicious, especially since they seemed different from the others who had come previously. However, our tribe welcomed them like any other wandering group and we learned the reason they were so suspicious was that at the last island they had visited the group of people living there immediately attacked them, so they were on guard and scared of us. Both of us had judged one another based on our initial interactions, but we did not let that judgement stick as we learned more. Thus we were able to make friends with the fisherman and they would always be happy to visit our island and chat around the fire about their adventures."

Amar never judges a book by its cover. Some of his favorite stories are actually older ones, where the cover art was a bit outdated. His very favorite book was one his grandfather had handed down to him, old and battered and with a cover which was creased and had been written on - but oh, the story inside!!

Having learned this lesson early on in life, he has applied it to other things as well, including how he relates to people, places, and other things. His car is actually an old beater, but that thing is real steel, not fiberglass like the ones they make today. It might not be the prettiest car in the whole world, but it's basically a tank!

Airina didn't want to admit that she had a bad habit of judging a book by its cover. Sometimes even literally.

Airina has always been a little timid of everything and everyone. She grew up in a swamp so there wasn't much life around. It was super rare that she would run into anyone. Sometimes she would run into a rabbit or a dog who had ran into the swamp from the nearby town. However, whenever she ran into someone new she would make a picture in her mind of who they were. This sometimes led her further away from making new friends.

She did remember the time when she met her best friend. At the time Airina didn't know they were going to be best friends though. She saw Nadia walk by and thought she looked scary. However, Nadia was the polar opposite of scary. Nadia saw Airina and invited her to come rainbow chasing with her. Airina was really hesitant because Nadia was scary but decided to go anyways because she had nothing better to do. They ended up having a great time and became the best of friends.

After that Airina doesn't judge people as much but she still can get timid.

Sunny tilts his head a slight at the question, his expression becoming pensive, "I'd love to say I never do that because rude, but I think we all do it to some degree," he admits, tapping his chin. "I mean, it is nearly impossible not to! But that being said, I think it is what you do after that initial moment that matters, right?" He smiles a bit brighter, before explaining.

"I like to make friends, no matter how I read someone. Everyone has something new to bring to your life, be it a new story, a new perspective, or even just affirmation that we are doing okay or not doing okay!" He chuckles softly. "I mean, okay take my dads for instance. If you encountered one, you would think he was anti-social since he does not speak. But it is the opposite! He is very social and he loves to dance, create music, and sign with people who understand that! My other dad? Literally looks like the sun. Everyone is drawn to him! But... he is more reserved, almost shy, and careful with his words. See what I mean? Their covers are almost opposite to who they are! But take the time to know them and well... you have two more really solid friends! Family!"
