All righty! Let's see how this goes:
@OutFoxed:
I certainly don't mind the whole Quarab/Appendix/Walkaloosa type thing ^^ The problem is when they start sounding like designer dogs... I've seen Quarisians and all sorts of weird breeds where it literally just sounds like they're mashing the breed names together to try and up the price on less knowledgeable people. I'm trying to be careful about which breeds I give those labels to so that RVEC doesn't sound like that sort of thing c: For the better known ones, I absolutely put those labels down when I can -- forgot to do the Quarab, though. Whoops.
Not sure about the whole new breed thing... That'd be a bit difficult for me to compute, and some people may actually be going for that specific cross, maybe because of a former horses of that cross or whatever -- so I'm not sure how I feel about that ^^' Certainly an interesting idea, though!
As for both the TWHxPaint and Appendix thing, I certainly plan to leave that up to the registries. The thing about TWHs is that they do already have pintos within their breed, so technically breeding to other colored horses isn't necessary. However, I'm not opposed to it, and if the Gaited Horse/TWH registries are cool with allowing horses with non-gaited parents to register, that's totally up to them ^^ Once it gets to where a horse is 75% one breed, I'll probably leave the title as that one breed, although the more specific "breed" section will probably be broken down into the percentages until those get small enough that the horse would be considered a purebred. Regarding the Appendix horse, that's certainly something I don't mind doing -- I tend to call my own boy a Paint Appendix, as he's got a good bit of QH in his lineage and he's certainly got the type -- a little stockier than other Appendixes I've met, if anything. So if the QH registry plans to include an Appendix section in their registry and they choose to approve horses such as that to be registered as Appendix Quarter Horses, that's totally up to them c: Technically, Appendixes can be from a lot of different breeds -- to my knowledge, Paints have an Appendix section as well, though the term is so popular with TBxQHs that it's rarely used with anything else. I could be wrong on that, of course.
I'd have to see how everyone feels about giving this amount of power to the registries -- I personally don't mind it, as I was considering approving breedings myself before I did them just to cut down on the number of horse mutts, but that may slow down breeding approval significantly enough to annoy several people and cause a decline in registry membership. If we did this, we'd certainly need to increase rewards for joining in registries; right now, they're kind of useless in horse life; they're nice to have around, but they don't have much say in what goes on within a breed, which is pretty contrary to how they are in real life. I'd like to reform them a bit anyway to give them more of a voice and more incentive to join; any suggestions?
Again, I'm super sorry to hear about how disappointing this sim has been for so many people. I've been trying to satisfy what seems to me like draft horse demand, and the problem is that there are so many warmbloods that I doubt we'd ever be able to hit them all within the game. I think that for now, I'll create several warmbloods without a specific breed and leave that up for people to choose upon adopting them so that I'm not only addressing the breeding needs of a few players and can actually feel that I'm doing something to help with this problem. (Additionally, hunters just seems to be the hardest horse to get good stats for -- I don't know why. There are just so many horses out there with great 3DE stats and hunters are just so lacking. I'll probably do a week of hunters-statted horses to try and make up for this ^^)
@waldeinsamkeit.:
Yes, I know it's been very difficult to find quality warmbloods with high stats -- mostly because I've been heavily stocking RVEC with drafts since the stat change and since I assign genders to horses before finishing them, except for foals. I guess I just get male or female in mind while designing them and then when they come to life it's hard for me to change that -- but then I also have no clue as to how many of each gender we have, so I just kind of hope for the best. Honestly, I'm really glad that we've ended up with such an even number of mares to stallions; I was thinking we were severely lacking in mares, but apparently not. Yay! But yes, because the stats are all random, and because randomness has a funny sense of humor apparently, I know that a lot of the less generally desired horses have higher stats. I'll assure you that after I've designed a horse and spent a good deal of my time working to make it the best it can possibly be, I flinch when I have to watch it get horrible stats or awful conformation. However, I don't try to gear a horse for a particular discipline except for on special occasions for special adoptions, so there's really nothing I can do for that. Hopefully we get some nice warmbloods soon enough -- I really do love seeing my designs get lovely stats, and it makes me so happy for y'all when it happens ^^ (Although just out of curiosity -- what do you mean by "crazy coloured clydesdales"?)
@All:
It is super, super important for me that you guys change your votes on the suggestions thread if you find that you're not really wanting a particular type of horse anymore or if you feel that there are too many of them -- I do still go by that, so if it's out of date, it's hurting all of us ^^' Posting breed suggestions is also super helpful, because then I don't have to just guess and hope that I get it right; I can't remember all of the breeds that each person has mentioned wanting to breed, so having it right there in front of me is really important c: Also, please let me know how we ought to reform registries and such -- I'd really appreciate your help! <3
Edit: Oh, and just as a heads-up for the poll -- if it's not a distinct majority that want hereditary attitudes, I most likely won't implement them, just because I'd rather this not be a disappointment to the community and such. However, I'll warn you all that attitudes will almost always have a chance of improving upon foaling, however slim that may be, so you can always take that into consideration ^^
