tell your tale ! :: The first time Shell ever saw snow, they were staying over at their friend Lily's house. When the two had fallen asleep, it had just been a normal, cold winter evening, but by the time they woke up, a layer of snow had fallen, covering the house and yard. Lily was the first to notice, having looked out the window while Shell was putting away their sleeping bag.
"Shell, come look! It is snowing!" Lily called out excitedly, and Shell walked over curiously. They were instantly in awe at the sight; the trees, the fence, the ground- everything was entirely hidden by snow. Though they had heard people call winter 'magical' before, they had not expected the word to actually be so... Accurate.
"Wow," Shell murmured, eyes not leaving the window for even a moment, and thus they had not realized Lily had rushed off until she returned with their coats.
"Come on, we just have to play in the snow for a bit!" Lily said enthusiastically. Though Shell initially felt hesitant to alter the beautiful image by playing in the snow, their curiosity about experiencing what real snow was like soon pushed that hesitation aside. They followed Lily into the yard, and started pawing at the snow around them. It was a strange feeling, and they were amazed to see the imprint of their paw that was left in the snow when they lifted it up again. looking over at their friend, they saw Lily had plopped herself down in the snow.
"I am making a snow agel! Want to try?" Lily asked, having noticed Shell looking at her.
"Sure," Shell replied curiously. A snow agel? Well, it did seem like Lily was making wings with her paws. Shell awkwardly plopped down in the snow as well, and tried to mimic Lily as best they could. While their result was a bit messier than Lily's, Shell was quite proud of it nonetheless. "I did it!" they said enthusiastically.
"Yeah! It looks great," Lily replied with a smile, before suddenly seeming to realize something. "We need to have a snowball fight!"
"A snowball fight?" Shell was confused at first, but followed Lily when she darted off.
"Yep, look, you just push some snow into a ball like this..." Lily began pushing some snow into the shape of a sphere, and while it wasn't perfect it looked close enough. "...And then you throw it! Gently, of course." Lily tossed the snowball towards Shell, and they watched as it landed next to their paw. "You try!"
Shell shrugged and began pushing some snow together, following what they had watched Lily do to make the first snowball. When they finished, they picked it up and tossed it gently at Lily. She beamed at them when it hit her shoulder.
"Great job!" Lily said, before making another snowball and tossing it back at Shell. The game continued for several minutes, but Shell eventually grew tired. By then, some more snow had started falling, and Lily grinned before sticking her tongue out. Shell watched her curiously for a bit, wondering what she was doing, until they noticed some snowflakes landing on her tongue.
Shell wondered what the snow tasted like, and decided to stick their tongue out as well. They waited a bit, and soon enough a snowflake landed on their tongue. Shell giggled.
"This is fun, huh?" Lily said happily. Shell nodded eagerly.
"We should head back inside and have breakfast," Lily suggested rather reluctantly. "As fun as eating snowflakes is, it is not very filling." Shell felt their stomach grumble and nodded in agreement.
"We can come back outside after, though, right...?" Shell asked.
"Of course!" Lily said, leading the way back inside.
