Micky studied the doll closely. It wasn't a complete failure. Perhaps there were some parts of it worth salvaging. Yes, he would take it to the bin in the basement where the other mistakes lay in the dark.

It was a graveyard, of sorts, for the failed, flawed, and forgotten. But not useless. No, never useless. Mickey had a special sort of talent for taking what was left behind and making something special out of the ashes.

Mickey wasn't a predictable Kalon. His workstation was, certainly, organized and clean. Each tool and materiel precisely in its place. His basement, however, was more careless. One dying light, boxes and whatnot strewn about the floor or lazily stuffed into the overcrowded shelves hung on the walls.

Mickey gingerly cupped the doll in his paws, and began his descent to the bottom floor of his small house. He continued to judge the imperfections of his creation as he moved. Mickey was not often absentminded, but he couldn't take his eyes off the doll. He walked right into a stack of things, sending them flying and crashing down to the concrete.

Snapped out of his trance, he quickly deposited the broken doll in the bin of backup parts, and set out to collect all of the fallen objects. Most of it was junk, but then he reached out for a large, dust-covered book. He paused.

Devil's Husk

It was his favorite childhood book, a story his mother used to often read to him. It was not meant for children, for it was filled with gruesome tales set in an alternate universe where monsters, demons, and other dark creatures roamed free and lived among the Kalons. It took place in a small, corn-filled countryside town called "Devil's Husk."

Mickey slowly ran a claw down the cover of the book, removing a thin layer of dust in a line. He remembered how desperately he wished to live in the world of Devil's Husk when he was younger. To become allies with the dark creatures so they would aid in his practice of "dark magic."

A part of him still believed the world was real, and there was a chance monsters could roam his earth too, they just stayed hidden in the shadows...but until he got the change to meet them, he would continue his humble job of doll-making.

Surely a normal, inconspicuous job for a normal, inconspicuous world?

Cold fingers grazed the surface of the splintering wood.

Nanti's cold soulless expression was shocking, really. Especially with the circumstances, he seemed.. oddly calm.

The war was over. A barren battlefield unfolded infront of him. Thousands of soldiers flooded the streets as bells screeched sorrowful songs in the distance.

"You better hide," a voice chimed behind him.

He slowly turned around and met face-to-face with his best friend- no.. his enemy.

"What do you want?" Nanti said cooly.

"You see those soldiers? Those are your enemy soldiers." The other Kalon snarled, threatening Nanti with a claw.

Nanti took a look around, now realizing his mistake.

"Where are the others?.." He asked, his composed state now crumbling.

"Gone. They were outnumbered. Only a few made it out. They fled." the other Kalon said calmly, seemingly amused by Nanti's attempt at keeping it cool.

Nanti took a deep breath and stared his enemy in the eye. His hands trembled as he figured out the now great responsibility on his shoulders. He had to get justice for his kind. What kind you may ask?

"You're my everything from here to mars.."

Those words rolled effortlessly off his lips as he hugged his daughter close.

"Dad?" His daughter asked, looking up at him.

"Yes?" Nanti asked, smiling sweetly at the little girl.

"Will everything be okay?"

Nanti was slightly taken aback by the question, but he managed to answer quickly to avoid further questions.

"Yes, Sweetie. Everything will be alright."

prompt: For Ren, this world was too bright, too loud, and too colorful. It was horribly overwhelming, and so she started withdrawing from it. Ren hoped that someday, she would be in a world that was kinder to people like her, but until then, she would make do with her books, her cottage, and the relative quiet of the woods where she lived.

Grape Soda is, ironically, Berry's favorite drink. For as long as she could remember - Berry scented like grapes and always had an acclimation towards the color of purple. Whether it be light or dark or light in hue, she's loved it; Berry grows her own grapes in her backyard - bushes upon bushes full of the plump beauties ready for the pickings. She'll make almost anything with them - juice, tarts or even little crowns to put upon her head.

Eventually, Berry will find that she's not the only one who has a love for fruit soda's and juices - for her soon to be best friend would be able to read her like an open book, and make her life so much more tasteful.

King topaz sighed, placing the pen down. His heavy and dry eyes blink tiredly as he gives his poem a once over.

The careful writing on the page stood there in bold. His shadow loom over his shoulder and reads as well.

The poem was King Topaz's feeling towards his 'shadow'. A second person in his head, telling him and commanding him, staying in the backseat.

"She holds me back,
she tells me that I lack,
the things people want.
But she could daunt.
I can do anything in the world,
yet, she keeps me furled.

“I want to go out!” I say,
but to my dismay,
she says, “Let’s just stay inside.”
I cried, oh, how I cried.
I want to do something, yet she wants to lay down.
“But I don’t want to stay in bed!” I frown.
She shakes her head and waves her finger,
“What’s better than to stay in bed and linger?”

I can’t reason with her,
she won’t succor.
She’s a pain, she’s a leech,
no matter how I beseech.
She’s never leaving my side,
I cannot hide.

Our relationship is toxic,
she keeps me in a cage and locks it.
She feeds me lies,
tells me that they will lead us to our demise,
and tells me I’m the only one I need,
and I have to concede.

I can’t get rid of her,
but you can infer,
it’s because she is me."
