Entry:
Kailasa tossed her head in sheer pleasure as she ran, long legs stretching to devour the ground beneath her hooves. She wasn't running from or to anything, she was simply running for the joy of it. The sun was warm on her back and even if her mane and tail weren't streamered out by the wind of her own speed, there was a light breeze in the air, the sort that was perfect for bringing one a delectable array of scent. Warm grasses and flowers heavy with pollen dominated.
She slowed to a trot and finally a walk as she reached the edge of the meadow and approached the woods. She'd not been in the woods, but had no qualms about entering them. Never in her admittedly brief existence had she had reason to fear, nothing had ever threatened her. So with no more than a snort and a swish of her tail she left the sun of the meadow to enter the dappled darkness of the woods. This, she reflected, would be a very good place to be on an uncomfortably hot day. A sudden movement startled her, and she saw a doe bounding off deeper into the woods. Suddenly possessed of a playful, mischievous spirit, Kailasa ducked her head and gave a small buck before taking off after the deer. The two played in this way for an hour or more before the mare was drawn off by the sound of running water.
The small stream her ears led her to was cold and crisp as its waters ran down her throat, quenching her thirst. This done, she flicked an ear, looking about somnolently. By this point she had no idea where she was, having gotten entirely turned around whilst playing.
"Are you lost?" A voice from nowhere and everywhere.
Kailasa considered this for a moment. She did not know where she was, nor how to get back to where she had started, so she was in fact the very essence of the word, for all that it did not concern her. "Yes."
"Are you afraid?"
"No, what would I fear?"
"Ah my sweet children, how I pray that your innocence will last."
"Are others afraid?"
"Yes, very, but not here. You are right, there is nothing to fear here."
"Couldn't the others come here then?"
"Ah, pure heart, it is.. not so easy. I wish it were. They bring their fear with them. They would poison this land as they poisoned theirs."
"Could we not go to them and soothe their fears? Heal their lands?"
"Maybe one day pure heart, if those like you keep the light within burning true." With that Drasta stepped forward and made herself visible. Kailasa fell silent in awe, taking in the being before her. Stepping forward, Drasta hooked her neck over the mares, a quick touch of affection, creator to creation, and then once more she wasn't.
Kailasa looked around the now empty stream. She did not understand all of Drastas words, but it gave her much to think on, and she was set on not letting the Goddess down, no matter what.
