It’s quiet in the Trove. The piles of scattered presents have thinned, ribbons no longer drifting in the air. When you round the corner, you spot Pebble- wings faintly glowing, breath shimmering in the cold. They look tired, their wounds from the collision almost entirely gone- but they look peaceful.

“Oh- there you are.” They say softly, relief melting into their voice. “I was afraid I wouldn’t get to see you before I left.”

They step closer, hooves barely leaving prints in the snow. “When this began, I thought my job was just to deliver gifts. Pretty paper, bows, sparkles… little, materialistic things… following an old, almost lifeless tradition. But… you reminded me that every gift means something because of the heart that gives it. You helped me remember why it matters…”

They smile, small and fond, eyes glowing like stars reflected in the snow. “You were there- for me, a complete stranger- through the wind and the cold. You picked up pieces when I lost them. You made the Trove shine brighter than it ever has before.”

They turn, lifting a small package wrapped in silver thread. “I saved this for you. I don’t think I can repay you for what you did for me… but, I know you don’t want me to. Still… I’d like to atleast try.”

The Keepsies’ wings unfold, scattering sparkles into the snow.

“I have to go now. There are hearts out there waiting for their own gifts. But… don’t forget… you’re a part of this magic too. Everytime you give, everytime you care, the light grows a little stronger.”

They step back, their wings beginning to shimmer. “Thank you you all your help- I mean it when I saw I can never repay you for the help you gave to me. I’ll see you again… when the world needs a little more warmth.”

With a rush of air, the spirit-deer leaps skyward, disappearing into the wintry night with a flash of light. All that remains is the faint echo of bells and the soft glow of the gift left in your paws.
