Fizz's paws stomp angrily as they marched ahead of the sleek, black cat...er not cat? (they didn't really give a damn either way,) nothing but pure contempt swirling in their veins at being wrangled into this situation in the first place. The flickering of their dead eyes cut through the darkness, a welcoming light given the current circumstances, as the duo rounded the corner towards another a long corridor. Foggy jumps when a low growl from ahead breaks the deafening silence. "What did I say?" Fizz mumbles moreso to himself, but the blame was directed to the Cozie that trailed behind, "Keep your nose out of it, but you just had to get your little paws dirty, didn't you?" "Ex-cuse me? I don't even KNOW you and," Foggy's voice raises in tone, "from this encounter, I don't think I care to." They laugh at the pointed words, amused, "You think you'd be nicer to the only one who knows the way out of this thing."

An eternity seems to pass as they traverse corridor after corridor before Foggy bumps into Fizz when they stop on a dime. "Watch it, you fool!" they huff, brushing down their ruffled fur. Their paw then connects with an inconspicuous candlestick high on the wall and they give the thing a pull, a mechanical click releasing a latch to allow a chunk of paneling to swing open. "Ah, just how I remember it." Fizz chuckles, stepping into the cobweb filled space. Foggy hesitates outside the secret passage, on edge - his ears pinned back and fur bristling - as the faint glow from the other Cozie slowly moves away, leaving him shrouded in the dark. A scraping noise echoes down the long hall from the direction in which they came, a sound akin to the sharpening of a knife, and he tumbles into the passageway with shaky paws, taking the safer of the two options. She hoped...

The duo emerge into a laboratory of sorts, a singular cauldron filling the empty space of the room. It seemed almost familiar... "What is this place?" Foggy asks, his eyes transfixed on the strange collection of bottles that adorned the old wooden shelves. Fizz's chest-mouth grumbles in disapproval at the stupid question, "What's it look like?" Their teeth gnash together with a hiss when an old tome draws Foggy's attention and they quickly lunge forward, paw slamming the object shut before the other could notice the ripped page. A cloud of dust swirls at the disturbance, causing the cat to take a coughing fit, as Fizz nudges her toward the strange brew gurgling in the pot. "Here," they place a hand-carved spoon into the others' paws with a softer tone, "try some. It'll help."
Foggy dips the utensil into the cauldron as if the action was out of his control, flinching when a Cozie-like shape emerges from the midst of the cauldron's ooze for a beat, its ears curled up akin to devil horns and its muzzle fitted with fangs that would make the bravest soul shake in their boots, before it vanishes back into the brew with a slorp. Foggy gasps, dropping the spoon and taking a step backwards to distance herself from the bubbling pot, as the chest-mouth widens into a grin. "What's the matter? It won't bite you."
Fizz begins to laugh, a maniacal, grating laugh, as Foggy moves farther away and sidles rather hastily in the direction of the wooden door. "M-maybe next time," he tries and fails to hide the quiver in his voice, "Thanks for the help!" Foggy makes a sudden mad dash, her paw connecting with the iron handle and throwing open the door before rushing out without a look back. Fizz settles by the cauldron, guffaw dying down, before speaking as if consoling themself, "Don't worry. There's always next time."

Notes: Sorry about the length, I couldn't shut up despite having no clear clue where I was going with this,,,,
Hopefully it makes a bit of sense somewhere pshhh

Candela looked back at Foggy, apparently for the first time, the horrifying realization that she truly had no idea what they were up against dawning on her. Was there even any hope of finding the lost Cozies? Where they even here, or could there be other nightmare houses scattered about? She thinks she can hear other beings in the house, but the sounds are inconsistent and seem to be moving about. She decides to push her doubts down and keep going, hoping to either find others or find an exit.
