mask design: Despite her usual propensity for gaudiness, the mask Ruby chose is understated yet refined: it is nearly solid black, save for gold detailing around the eyes and the edges of the mask. Beneath one eye and above the other are small golden flowers mounted to the mask, enough to draw one's attention but not enough to completely steal the show. Instead, the most eye-catching part of the mask is off to its left side, where it is adorned by a single black rose, a deep, dark color carrying just the slightest hint of red. The rose is framed by gold leaves and dangling loops of black pearls that brush against Ruby's cheek as she makes her way through the crowded masquerade ball.

mask design: (I wrote this bit alongside my day 3 entry of the actual masquerade ball but held onto it in case I changed my mind. I didn't. LOL) The rogue's mask is a gorgeous ruby red, another relic of his past he's reluctant to admit to. It gave him an unsettled pause to discover the domino mask had been cracked along the center in his pack, but he's quick to fix it with what he's got, even as it leaves a jagged scar where the material didn't quite match up again anymore (kintsugi look?). There was once a time when he wore the mask with pride, he'd be damned if he bought another one of these things just for another masquerade he felt obligated to attend. Two points reminiscent of devil horns sprout from the far edges of the forehead of the mask and it's eyeholes themselves are outlined black, eyebrows in an exaggerated swoop downward, the nose molded to appear scrunched, all towards a mask of steady determination. Ornate black patterns curl too over the forms of the mask. Words only he knows now are engraved on the inside of the mask like a taunt. It feels obnoxious and weighty in comparison to his usual plain, convenient black mask he wears to conceal himself in his travels now. Tattered and singed red ribbon ties the masquerade mask tight against his skull, gathering at the back like long and dangling twin tails. (Feel free to interpret how you want c:)

You look upon the features of this fable’s mask and can’t decide how to feel; sloped brow rising up and into a highly placed curved brow, eyes slits of waxing and waning crescents respectfully and carved out to reveal a moonstruck emptiness.
It leaves your mind spiraling, are you beginning or ending? Are you in hope or despair? Growth or stagnation?

Is this fable guiding you to salvation or your doom?

You spin with them, the world blurs around you and yet they stay still, red lips and white skin, followed by a golden widow's peak and blue around the eyes; they are disjointed, no puzzle pieces fit them, even your hands don't feel quite right in theirs yet where else are you supposed to put them? Where else is the red, blue, white and gold supposed to go?
