Extra: When the gas giant turned its great green eyes from Eaden, Guilla snuck out towards the Outskirts. He shuffled through the dusty once-streets with purpose. A sling hung over his back to transport his precious cargo--which clinked softly as he made jumps or turns to his destination. After rounding a corner or two, and throwing a look behind him, Guilla approached the back of the Scavengers' Guild. He rounded a bent signpost and ducked under a shoddy half-curtain where a giant, fuzzy, masked werm was lounging. The massive werm bounced a pristine smiley yellow toy between the floor and the adjacent wall, humming some peculiar song to the bouncy ball tempo. He caught the ball with a punctuated
pop, turning his masked face towards Guilla.
"Yo. Did you bring them?"
Guilla nodded, stepping forward with his claws parting the cloth satchel. Inside sat some of the rocks he had been collecting from the Wastelands and the Garden.
"...and you really want to wake them up?"
Guilla hesitated at his question, but nodded after a beat.
"Yes. If they are awake, they will realize they are among friends."
The shady salesman processed that, guffawed loudly, then clamped his palm over his mask where his mouth would be. "Shoot. Polo prolly heard that. We gotta be quick. Give 'em here."
Guilla placed them carefully into the werm'z hands, watching with burning curiosity as the other twisted away from him, shielding his work from Guilla.
"No peeking."
After a minute or so, the other turned back around.
"It worked! They're awake!"
He presented Guilla with a trio of rocks, all adorned with strange features--eyes, mouths, and brows... Guilla's own eyes grew wide at the sight.
"Thank you," he said, carefully putting the rocks back into his bag. "Rest now," he instructed the rocks. Turning back to the other werm, Guilla tilted his head. "I have curre--"
"No need, kid," assured the salesman with a wave of his hand. "This has been payment enough. Now shoo, before we get a broom to the head."
Guilla nodded once, bowing before exiting. Once he was clear of the building, he peeked into the bag again to look down at the rocks.
"Hello new friends. You have been asleep for a while. I will get you home safe."
