"What's wrong Dredge? Don't tell me you're
scared."
The spirally pup looked to his friend and scoffed, "I'm totally not! I'm just…thinking of our plan of action! Yea!"
Little Lamb chirped, and Dredge hushed them quietly, "We have to be quick if we wanna avoid all the z-zombies!"
"Yea," Toxicity mumbled, eyeing him. "
That's the thing we gotta avoid."
The trio of friends was standing at the edge of a graveyard…one enveloped in mist and secrets. It was a few hours until Halloween trick-or-treating officially started, and they had come up with a dare for themselves before it was time to acquire candy.
"We could get in major trouble for this!" The green cat fretted, bouncing from one paw to the next nervously. "What if someone catches us? We won't get any candy if we have to spend the night in jail!"
Eve, their undoubtedly elected team leader, rolled their eyes. "Come on you guys! We'll have such a rad story to tell everyone else that we ran through
H'aunters Graveyard without being eaten!"

Dredge eyed one of the nearby tombstones, frowning. "I told you I'm not scared! In fact, I've come up with an idea for us right now!"
A silence came, one where only the cawing of crows pierced the cloudy night.
"We all run
together, at the same time! Whoever makes it to the other side first means they didn't turn tail and run!"
A smirk crept across Eve's features just as Toxicity groaned. "That's a great idea Dredge, whoever wins gets the honor of telling the story!"
"I'm really regretting rolling out of bed today…" Toxicity sighed, but steeled himself to bolt on through.
As the others did the same, Eve took up the honor of counting them down. "Alright…on your marks…get set…go!!!"
And the fog blanketed the trio as they sprinted into the graveyard- yelling at the top of their lungs as they did so.
The crows were the only spectators of the event. They watched the vague shape of animals through beady eyes, tilting their heads this way and that at their antics.
In the end the winner was…

Three little cozies mumbled and grumbled as they trekked back to town, covered in mud and sticks and leaves as they tumbled around in the dark. In hindsight, it probably wasn't a good idea.
But Little Lamb stood triumphant on Dredge's head, and basked in the glory of being the first to 'make it out alive'.
It truly was going to be a tale for the ages.
