Thistlehooves | Thistlehoof Lore

Thistlehooves are a hybrid breed of generally long-haired cows from the Scottish mainland. Thistlehoof ancestors mainly consist of Highland and Galloway cattle, but more recently they have been mixed with other breeds of cattle to produce new and exciting mutations. Thistlehooves are generally very docile and loving pets, and can form strong bonds with other animals and people.

This is entirely optional lore and you are welcome to write your ocs however you wish c:

To adopt a Thistlehoof you must first have somewhere to store them. This is known as your barn! Your barn can be as complicated or as simple as you like, as long as it has these basic requirements:

β€’ A link back to the main Thistlehooves thread
β€’ A barn name
β€’ Your tartan
β€’ Your Thistlehoof's name, gender, pronouns and a link to their adopt page
β€’ Your Thistlehoof's used and unused breeding slots (each Thistlehoof gets 4)
β€’ All of your owned companions, and their names
β€’ Your user level

Here is some barns as examples: Thistle Grove / Sonder Farm

Any additional information (such as lore, Thistlehoof hex codes, farmer characters, etc) is optional. You can also use sites like Toyhou.se or create a storage website (using sites like weebly or wix for example) as a barn, as long as you have the basic information.

Once you have made your barn, either PM me (liiontai) or send a link to the #barn-links channel in the Discord.

Your tartan is unique to your barn. When creating one, try not to be too similar to other people's.
Your tartan can include small symbols and extra details, however it must be some sort of plaid design.
You can either create this in an art program, or I recommend using an online tartan creator such as these: 1 2

When you win an adopt, you must send the artist a link to your barn or tartan so they can colour in the collar of your Thistlehoof. All of your Thistlehooves share the same tartan collar, as a little way to identify who belongs to who. You can use a Fabric Dye item to change your tartan at a later date if you do not like it anymore.

Changing your tartan involves asking the original artist of your Thistlehooves if they are available to edit your tartans. If they are not, you may edit them yourselves from an oekaki colour-in. All of your Thistlehooves must be updated to reflect your new tartan. This also applies to transferring your Thistlehoof to another user.

Thistlehooves | Quest Board

Postby liiontai » Sat Dec 12, 2020 5:30 pm

𝕒𝕦𝕖𝕀π•₯ 𝕓𝕠𝕒𝕣𝕕
_________________________________________________________________

The Quest Board can be found here.

The Quest Board (QB from here out) is where various quest lines and other activities are stored. It is an interactive thread where users can complete prompts to earn levels and other species-related rewards, such as items and myo tickets. The QB is self-archived, meaning you must keep track of your levels and claimed rewards yourself. There are 3 main sections to the QB: Level Up Rewards, The Dog Show + Event Quests, and Quest Lines.

𝕝𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕝 𝕦𝕑 𝕣𝕖𝕨𝕒𝕣𝕕𝕀
_________________________________________________________________

Completing different quests will reward levels. How many levels you receive depends on the quest. When users hit a certain level milestone, they can claim the corresponding level up reward. The level up rewards section of the QB simply lists the rewards next to their required level. eg when a user hits level 50 they can claim a rare myo ticket.

π•₯𝕙𝕖 π••π• π•˜ 𝕀𝕙𝕠𝕨 + π•–π•§π•–π•Ÿπ•₯ 𝕒𝕦𝕖𝕀π•₯𝕀
_________________________________________________________________

The Dog Show is a repeatable monthly quest that resets on the 1st of each month. Compatible companion species (primarily canine companions) can be entered by filling out a form. Winners are randomly generated.

Event Quests are temporary quests that appear during events. They may be simple forms to claim temporary rewards or more in-depth quest lines with NPCs and various tasks to complete. Event quests disappear after the event finishes, so do them before they're gone!

𝕒𝕦𝕖𝕀π•₯ π•π•šπ•Ÿπ•–π•€
_________________________________________________________________

Quest Lines are the 'main' function of the QB. They feature NPCs who provide a number of quests to complete in one 'quest line'. These quests usually follow some vague theme. Different quests reward different level amounts, usually depending on the complexity of the task. These quests do not disappear and you do not have to complete them in chronological order - go at your own pace! Quests can be completed retroactively too, if you've already met the requirement in the past.

Each new companion species release comes with a full quest line featuring that companion as the NPC. These are usually unlocked by owning the corresponding species of companion. More quests may be added to these quest lines over time.

Every user can complete the New In Town quest line. It has no specific unlock requirement and covers the basics of getting started in Thistlehooves. Completing this quest line is highly recommended as a starting point.

Thistlehooves | FAQ

Postby liiontai » Tue Mar 21, 2023 7:40 pm

𝕗𝕒𝕒
_________________________________________________________________

Are there bull lines?
Not really! The udder is removable but doesn't represent any particular gender.
Your cows gender identity and pronouns don't need to match whether or not they have/don't have an udder.

Do all of my Thistlehooves have the same colour tartan?
Yes (: Your tartan represents you, so any cows you own will be wearing the same tartan pattern.
Any cows you transfer should have their tartans edited.

Can I take a tartan from the internet?
NO, please do not do this. Any tartans you find online most likely belong to someone else or represent a particular family. It would be disrespectful to steal someone else's tartan. Please create your own.

Is there a limit on how many Thistlehooves you can own?
Nope! As long as you can keep track of them all in your barn, there's no limit.

Can you co-own a Thistlehoof?
Currently, I don't allow this as it complicates the archive.

What do you mean by 'farmer'?
A farmer is just an extra character you can include in your lore to take care of your barn!
They're completely optional and can be any species you like, not necessarily humans.

Can I make my MYO offsite?
I am currently working on a PSD of the lines, however currently all MYOs should be made on Oekaki.
You are welcome to hire someone else to create your MYO if Oekaki doesn't work for you.

Can I revamp my MYO?
Minor changes and revamps are permitted for MYOs with the original designers permission. Marking changes and minor colour changes or palette shifts are ok. Changes that affect traits are only permitted with the use of a relevant edit item.

What is a 'user level'?
User level refers to the levels you gain by completing quests on the quest board.
