Answer writing prompts and drawing prompts for a chance to gain reputation points, which can be put to use buying fun items from our store.

WRITING PROMPTS

Each writing prompt you finish you will earn reputation points! For writing prompts to count they must answer the prompt in a relevant way and be between 400 and 600 words.

Completed writing prompt = 5 reputation points

DRAWING PROMPTS

Drawing prompts are an extra way to earn reputation points. They are not necessary for participating in the event, but they're an extra challenge and something you are able to do throughout the whole event.

Finished, colored piece (fullbody) = 4 reputation points {X}
Finished piece PLUS partial background = 5 reputation points {X} (1-3 distint and unique objects.)
Finished piece PLUS full background = 7 reputation points {X} (4+ distint and unique objects.)

As per last year, objects will be counted in threes. Each extra cat will be counted as its own object. Don't abuse the 3 similar objects like 3 trees to boost your point count by making a background of only 12 trees. Detailed ground will be counted as its own object.

Just filling the space around the cat does not count as a background.

xx

Rise Summer Event: Dark Skies | Rules

Postby Shadowflight13 » Fri Aug 09, 2019 3:40 pm

    1. All site and Rise rules apply during this event.
    2. Once you choose a path you can't go back; choose wisely.
    3. All prompt answers are to be submitted via their respective form on their respective thread.
    4. Once a new writing prompt it opened up, you can't go back and answer a previous one. You can jump in on a current prompt even if you haven't participated in previous ones.
    5. Art prompts are open for the entire event.
    6. You may only answer each prompt once.
    7. You aren't required to do both the art and writing prompts; do what you're able.
    8. It's suggested that you post your art prompt in a separate post if you don't do the art and the writing prompt at the same time. Editing your post with previous writing prompts will likely end up with the art not counted as it will be missed. On the last day of each writing prompt, any edits after the stated end time will disqualify your writing prompt in that post (at the time of judging).

You wake your healer and deputy that morning, your movements slow from sleep deprivation. They both give you concerned looks but refrain from asking, halted by the tired shake of your head. You lead the pair back to your den, and before you can sink back into the alluring comfort your nest your deputy stops you with a flick of their tail, "Who was in here? That's not the scent of any of ours." You can only sigh in return, waving the question off briefly so that you can finally lay down. Last night had drug on longer than you had expected, and you were exhausted. Once settled, your gaze flickers upwards to see both other cats in the den staring at you expectantly.

Neither seems impressed with the state you're in, and you can only allow yourself a moment of amusement at the thought that they look like exasperated mothers before jumping into what you have to tell them. "Hecate and her... Oracle were here last night." This garners startled looks, but you plow onwards before either of them can interrupt, "She told me the ancestors have given them a prophecy." The two cats facing you share a look before your deputy steps forward.

"Why would they approach them and not us? They aren't the rogues ancestors."

You can only shrug. You had given thought to that all night and couldn't come up with anything concrete on why they would do so, but there obviously must be some reason. Perhaps you all just didn't see it yet. "They didn't know either. But she gave me the prophecy they told them before she left."

Your medicine cat approaches then, sweeping their tail in front of them as they sit, ears forward. "Let's hear it, then. It must be important if she came all the way here to tell you." Your deputy nods in agreement, sitting as well.

Taking a deep breath to steady yourself, you repeat the prophecy to them, the haunting words etched into your memory. You're sure, no matter which way this ends, that they will always be something you remember. You trail off once you've repeated it for them, and after a moment of tense, uncomfortable silence as they process the words you add, "Hecate said she'd be back in two days for our answer."

Neither answers this, looking troubled. You suppose that's fair; you don't know what to do either. You all had an unfortunately short time to decide. "You both can go think on it if you'd like. I think that would benefit all of us. We can meet here tomorrow morning to decide our path." Both cats give you distracted nods, wandering out of your den with undiscernable looks on their faces. You share the sentiment; all of you have a long day of thought ahead of you.

The three of you spend the day distracted and worried, each caught up in their own head, trying to solve the problem in front of you. You know your clanmates are worried because of the behavior, but they leave you be for the time being, which you can only be thankful for. The day passes in a blur, overshadowed by your dark thoughts and the prophecy hanging over your head. You curl up in your den that night, knowing what sleep you do manage will be restless and scarce.

When your deputy and healer creep into your den the next morning you've already been up for hours. You greet them, exhausted and weary of the day ahead of you. Hecate will be back sometime tomorrow for your answer; you need to make your decision now.

The two others join you in laying down, clearly weary themselves. "We have given thought," your healer starts, the hint of sleep in their voice poorly masked, "It is time to discuss."

You shift forward a bit, shaking yourself further awake. "I still don't understand why this wasn't brought to us, instead of them. But it won't be the first time our ancestors have spoken to them. They were spooked; there must be some weight to it if Hecate came all the way here to tell us. And... she may be young, but she clearly cares for her group. She was adamant that I understand that unity was what would help all of us; she clearly believes it."

Your deputy flicks their ears, frustration borne from lack of sleep clear in their movement. "But how do we know this isn't some scheme to benefit them?"

You and your healer share a look and it is them that turns to answer. "They have stuck to our agreement, and have settled in fairly well. They seem capable and willing to change. If they've extended this branch of peace to us, of their own will, we should see where it takes us. Allies are always welcomed. And if it is a trick," they shrug, "We still outnumber them. If it comes to a fight, so be it. But I would rather assume they mean no harm until they prove otherwise."

Nodding in agreement, you turn again to your deputy, allowing them to add further if they wish. They're quiet for a moment, clearly mulling over both your words. After a few long beats, they dip their head. "Alright. I can see the benefit of unity here, you won't find an argument from me. We can figure out how to tell the clan once she returns."

You all share nods of agreement, and your healer and medicine cat get up to attend to their own duties. There will be another long day of worry ahead of all of you, but at least you have your answer now, and Hecate will be back tomorrow. You can work out some solution with her then. You raise yourself, stretching as far as you can before giving your pelt a hard shake. You may as well distract yourself with the clan today. You'll all have a long day tomorrow.

When you flop into your nest that night you're more relaxed, the day spent among your clanmates doing wonders for your nerves. You can feel them creeping back in now that you're on your own, but you can't help but be thankful for the, even temporary, reprieve. You drift off wondering what tomorrow will bring.

You're awoken the next morning, thankfully, not by Hecate but by your deputy. You'd have been worried if the small she-cat had managed to make it to your den unhindered in the daylight. You pull yourself up, following at your deputies heels as they turn and lead you to where Hecate is sitting by the camp entrance, flanked by two of your warriors and one of her cats, who you're surprised to identify as Pan as you get closer.

Hecate gives you a curious look as you approach, clearly expecting her answer, even as Pan jostles her slightly to greet you. You give the young tom a greeting, in turn, getting a beaming smile in return as he settles finally by Hecate's side, and turn your attention to the she-cat in question.

"Well," she prompts, her tail sweeping behind her, "What decision did you come to?"

Your deputy waves off the curious stares of the warriors who had acted as guards, and send them to attend to something else as you gather yourself. They give you a curious look, clearly questioning your hesitance.

Finally, you take a deep breath, brushing off your anxiety at the decision and standing a little taller. "We discussed it." Your gaze slides over them to your healer who hovers by the entrance to their den. They give you an encouraging nod, waving a paw for you to get on with it. Your attention drops back to Hecate, "We're willing to work together."

The small she-cat grins, ears swiveling forward. "Thank you." At your confusion, she stands, flicking her tail in embarrassment. "You may have just saved both our groups, agreeing to work with us. So, thank you. I know you've all probably had a long few days, and that you're going to need time to explain this to your Clan. Meet us at the edge of your territory tomorrow at sun-high. We can discuss our plan of action. Bring who you need."

You're surprised at how sure she seems of herself now, even if rattled by what's going on. She's definitely grown in the year that's passed, and clearly is trying to be a better leader for her group. She even seems kinder to her clanmates. Perhaps your encounter last year had been what she needed to grow into herself. You can't help but wonder if shes mended relationships with some of the more strained interactions in her group, like Janus or Nike. Maybe you'd find out by the end of this.

You dip your head in agreement, watching as she and Pan exit your camp. You can only hope that this unity helps both your groups and that you're all equipped to handle whatever is coming.

Writing Prompt!

Clan Thread: gullclan
Prompt Writing:

snowstar awoke from a fitful doze - the best sleep he had gotten since hecate and the oracle had visited him two days ago. that night, heronstep had received a dream from starclan - or what could be counted as one.

she hadn't seen any starclan cats, persay, but she had been in their land - though she said everything was tinted in red, a warning of what was to come. so the idea of evil spirits was discarded.

that afternoon, snowstar, still exhausted, had gathered greystorm and heronstep again. this was when he had learned of her dream - and this was when he asked them what he should do.

after discussing the facts: hecate was not hook; she probably wouldn't disturb the clan unless it was dire; the oracle was never known to lie; and the prophecy specifically stated that things would probably work out better if the two groups stood together, the three cats decided that two would become one - they would help the castaways, and the castaways would help them, in return.

the three spent their next day and night among their clanmates, which was very therapeutic for snowstar especially.

snowstar let out a breath as he stretched, letting his worries momentarily float away. then greystorm came and ruined the peace of the moment. 'my love, hecate is here with pan.' he said softly.

snowstar shut his eyes tight before opening them and following greystorm to the camp entrance, where hecate and pan stood, with juniperclaw and hollyfur guarding them from either side. every once in a while, the two young warriors would eye each other and stand up straighter and put on a fiercer expression than the other. snowstar felt his heart lighten for a moment at their antics before it settled back into the place of ohnoeveryoneisgoingtodie.

snowstar dismissed the two warriors, who gave him a curious glance, but scampered away with a glower from greystorm.

'hecate.' snowstar greeted. 'pan.'

pan gave a small jump at the fact that snowstar knew his name and Hecate cast him an affectionate glance before turning to snowstar. 'What decision did you come to?' she asks, her tail sweeping the floor nervously.

snowstar dipped his head. 'greystorm, heronstep, and i decided it would be better to work together than to fall apart. two can become one.'

the small she-cat grinned, and her ears swiveled forwards. 'thank you; you may have just saved both our groups, agreeing to work with us. i know you've all probably had a long few days, and that you're going to need time to explain this to your clan. meet us near the ravine tomorrow at sun-high. we can discuss our plan of action. bring who you need.'

snowstar dipped his head in agreement and flicked his tail at greystorm. his deputy escorted the rogues out.

noticing his clanmates curious stares, snowstar leaped to his speaking place, and the clan gathered beneath him without need of a call.

'cats of gullclan,' snowstar began. 'two nights ago hecate and the oracle of the castaways visited us with news. with a prophecy.'

snowstar went on to explain the rest of...well, everything, and answered his clanmates questions to the best of his ability.

the one no one asked, but all wondered: why did the oracle receive a message and not heronstep?

but for now snowstar pushed the question away and flicked his tail to silence his clan.

'tomorrow i meet with hecate. who wants to come with me?'

"What if they're carrying the plague themselves?"
The clan meeting was going just about as well as Wildeyes had expected. Which was not well at all and actually really terrible. Par for course in the Songclan run of meetings.
"I'm almost entirely certain this is an attempt to take over us from within," Someone, Whisperstorm or Firefly, Wildeyes wasn't certain, said from the back of the group.
She let them run a little longer, trying to hear them all, trying to make them feel heard.
Because, typically, once they had all run out of thigs to say, it was easier to get them to shut up and listen to her. But, eventually, enough was enough.
"Alright, alright! My turn now," She shouted from her perch on the old log. She'd have to find a new elevated spot soon, the log was going rotten. Anways, everyone shut up real quick, mostly because Wildeyes had shrieked. She'd learned to always start at top volume, rather than end with it and everyone paid attention a lot faster.
"I know this seems less than ideal, but we're doing this. Not because the nutcase spat out a prophecy, but because I think it's the best thing to do and before anyone asks "why", let me explain-"
As it turned out they were not going to let her explain, because Nightlily cut in "So who's the boss if we merge all together? You or Hecate? Cause I'm really not going to take orders from someone who's baisically my own age."
"We'll work that out, most likely Songclan cats will report to me and Hecate will take care of her cats. Anyways the reason we're doing this is because -Firedark, I see you, shut your mouth right now- I think that this seriously increases our chances against the plague, which Sandclaw is fairly certain exsists-"
"If it doesn't?"
"Then I guess we have a lot of new friends, now shut up Firedark. I'm not fantastically happy about it, but we'll see how this goes. No fighting, no arguing, no nothing, understood? If you don't like it, just don't talk to them, alright? But this could be a real problem, does anyone here want to die an agonizing death via disease? Raise your paw."
No one did.
Good. Sometimes she just didn't trust these idiots.
"Hecate thinks if we work together, we'll survive. Not saying she's right, but if the sickness comes, it'd be better if she was with us rather than fighting against us while we're busy coughing our guts out. Savvy?"

Writing Prompt!

Clan Thread: SeaClan
Prompt Writing: Chriafol sighed. He was dreading the announcement he had promised SeaClan that he was going to make. Now that Hecate and Pan had visited them in broad daylight, he couldn't exactly keep the prophecy secret anymore.
aaaaaHe trekked to the top of the small cliff where announcements usually took place, flanked by Meadowsky, the healer, on his left, and his deputy, Jayclaw on his right. He looked down at his clan before yowling, "All cats Nilyn and up, meet at the base for a Clan Meeting!"
aaaaaThe three cats watched as their clanmates crowded around them, recognizing both fear and worry on some of their faces. Chriafol began, "Cats of SeaClan and cats of War, I'm sure both of you are wondering who the intruders were and I'm sure all of you want answers. However, I am afraid that the one I have, you may not take. I'm sure that you remember a couple of moons ago, we let a group of cats settle down on our territory. They have caused no problems yet. Again, I'm sure that some of you have realized that the Guardians have also been silent during these pasts few weeks. During this time, not they, but StarClan, have given these cats a prophecy concerning both us and them. I will not bother you with the details, but if you wish to know more, please meet in my den at sunhigh. Everything will go as normal. That is all - dismissed." Chriafol watched as his friends below go back to their daily business, albeit some of them looked somewhat troubled.
aaaaaTo his right, Jayclaw snorted, "Well, they took that better than I had planned. I thought we would be looking for trouble. Or rebellion or something. But this - no." He glanced at Chriafol. "Though it pains me to admit, it seems like despite your horrible understanding of anything cat-related, you still somehow have a way with your clan."
aaaaa"Hmm," Chriafol responded before padding away to his den. "I've got to get ready, but yes, they did take it oddly well." He glanced at Meadowsky.
aaaaa"I'll keep check for any omens or anything," she reassured him. "Don't worry. It seems that we've got everything under control."
aaaaaLater that day, Chriafol cursed himself for not knowing anything about what they were going to do.
aaaaa"What do you mean pestilence?" Quincelight, one of the older cats, shrieked. "Does that mean everyone is going to die?" she yelled.
aaaaaChriafol opened his mouth, but Darkmoon beat him to it. "No, Quincelight. And could you be quiet please? Chriafol's den is big, yes, but I would be surprised if not everyone in camp could hear you right now. And we don't want to alarm them. No, not everyone is going to die if we do this right. So please shut your mouth up about it."
aaaaaChriafol nodded to him in thanks. "As I was saying," he continued, "Basically, we need to work with Hecate's group and maybe with yours," he said nodding to Freya, Captain of WarClan, "-to stop with sickness before it can strike. If we can do that we'll be fine."
aaaaaSorrelflare raised his paw. "But if we fail, then we die?" he asked.
aaaaa"Yes," Chriafol bit out angrily. He was tired of repeating himself. Then he realized what he had just said. "I mean, no!" he yelped, but it was too late. Quincelight had been set off again and Chriafol groaned to himself. This was going to be a long day.

Clan Thread: WolfClan
Prompt Writing:

Wolfstar awoke from his sleep, although just as tired as before he fell asleep. The gray tabby let out a yawn and stretched in his nest before rising to his paws. He padded out of his den, letting out a small hiss as the sunlight washed over him. Wolfstar stood there for a moment, allowing himself and his eyes to adjust to the light before padding forward. He had spoken to Sparkfeather the night before, the pair had dove head first into a deep conversation on what would be the best route for the clan. The duo eventually ultimately had decided the best route would be to side with Hecate and her group, that way both groups had the best chance for survival. With flashes of the previous night running through the tabby tom's head, Wolfstar knew he had to tell the clan what would be happening. After all he knew if he didn't a certain spotted tom would pester him until he spilled the truth. With a small chuckle and a shake of his head Wolfstar let out a yowl to gather the clan below the High Rock.

"As some of you know Hecate and Oracle came and visited late last night. Our ancestors have sent Oracle a message and have warned of a great chaos coming our way. After speaking with Sparkfeather upon their departure we have decided it's best for us to partner up with Hecate and her group." Wolfstar explained. Below the High Rock sat both Sparkfeather and Hailshade, the two she-cats exchanging a glance between them before giving a small nod. It didn't take long for Leopardspots to rise to his paws, quickly voicing his opinion on the matter. "But can we even trust them? Look how they threatened to take our home from us those many moons ago. I know we have peace now, but honestly I don't think this is a good idea." the spotted tom meowed. Wolfstar gave a heavy sigh before speaking once more. "Would you rather have us die and still loose our home either way?" Wolfstar meowed, a slight hiss escaping his mouth. Sensing the situation was growing tense, both Pinefrost and Violetpetal tried to calm Leopardspots down. With a small nod Violetpetal signaled for Wolfstar to continue. "I want us all to be extra careful, report anything and everything back to me if you think it could change anything. Now Hailshade plans to visit the Moonpool to see if our ancestors have anything else to say. So please. While you are all out there be extra careful." Wolfstar meowed, disbanding the clan meeting.

Leoparspots walked off, his tail lashing from side to side with Violetpetal hot on his trail. The tom slowed down to allow the she-cat to catch up to him, heavily leaning against her as the pair walked out of camp. Wolfstar watched as the two left camp, knowing Violetpetal would be able to talk some sense into Leopardspots. Sparkfeather padded over to Wolfstar, gently nudging him back to reality. "Hey... You know Violetpetal is gonna talk some sense into him. He'll come around." She meowed softly. The large tom gave a small nod and sat down, letting out a heavy sigh. "I just hope everything works out in the end for both Hecate's group and our clan." Wolfstar meowed.

Writing Prompt!

Clan Thread: duskclan
Prompt Writing: "...We can discuss our plan of action. Bring who you need."
A weight finally felt lifted off of the tom's shoulders. He nodded to Hecate in agreement. Stormstar watched as she walked out of the camp, Pan at her side. Pan looked back at Stormstar to give a beaming smile before trotting along besides Hecate. Stormstar smiled, but as he turned around, he knew his day wasn't over yet. The Clan was staring at him curiously, their eyes brimming with questions.
"We're gonna have to tell them," Peachblossom meowed.
"Let's hope they don't all panic instantly," Swiftpaw muttered, though Stormstar could see that they were trying to remember the amount of poppy seeds and thyme they had left. Giving a nod of agreement, Stormstar bounded forwards so that he stood on top of his den. Looking down on his Clan, he yowled, "Cats of DuskClan, gather for an important message!"
Most of the cats were already curiously pacing about the camp, although Stormstar's yowl brought a few sleepy cats out of their dens.
"We have grave news, I'm afraid. Hecate has visited us - and not for a pleasant reason." He began.
"Is she demanding more territory? Because I swear I'll--" Sheeppaw began to yowl, which began to rile up the Clan.
"No, Sheeppaw, she's not doing anything of the sort. Her Oracle stated that he received a prophecy about our Clan - and, not only that, but inevitably a link to theirs." He continued.
"Why would the ancestors tell him and not us?" Rosecall meowed sceptically.
"Our ancestors rarely know what their own prophecies mean," Swiftpaw remarked, although not unkindly, "perhaps they didn't even know about this."
"What was the prophecy?" Pearflower called out worriedly.
Stormstar repeated the prophecy, the haunting words etched into his mind. The Clan fell silent, their eyes wide with fear. "I cannot say for sure what this means, but we know that there must be sickness coming our way, and soon. Possibly one we've never faced before." He glanced at Swiftpaw, and saw that their calm look only thinly veiled panic. Feeling his heart ache, Stormstar looked away from the young cat and continued, "and the prophecy talks about two becoming one. If they received the prophecy, it may be about us working together."
Peachblossom's eyes never left Stormstar, her gaze determined and serious. Swiftpaw looked down at their paws and was evidently reciting to themselves the herbs they may need. Sheeppaw's tail lashed as if he could fight the disease with tooth and claw, whilst Fawnpaw's eyes were stretched wide in concern. Pearflower's gaze was worried as it travelled over the kits, all so vulnerable to sickness. Ratpaw had never looked so spooked in their life. Rosecall still looked sceptical, but had bowed her head in acceptance of what Stormstar said. Laurelbreeze's gaze was grave with concern as she looked at her sibling, knowing all the weight that was on their shoulders. Dawnbloom lowered her head sadly, as if the death was already among them.
"We have decided that we will meet with Hecate tomorrow to discuss a plan," Despite the seriousness, he grinned slightly, "and she said I can bring whoever I want." Instantly, the kits - not understanding the seriousness - leapt up to their paws and began to eagerly suggest that they should go. Stormstar let out a gentle purr as Pearflower, Dawnbloom and Heatherpetal rushed to quiet them down.
Looking out over his Clan, he purred at their determination. "I will take Peachblossom, Swiftpaw, Wolftail, Rosecall, Fawnpaw, and Sheeppaw," He decided, "the rest of you are to guard the camp until we return."

Writing Prompt!

Clan Thread: AsterClan
Prompt Writing:

"So you think we should unite, then?"

It was still the dead of night.
Perhaps it wasn't quite the time to make decisions that would largely affect the Clan so; but that was the beauty of the whole situation... you couldn't expect anything.
And Minkstar certainly wasn't in the best state of mind to simply just wait until the morning, when they had just heard this now.

You're asking me, Yarrowleaf almost responded, until he realized; ...absolutely.
He was their sole medicine cat. It had been hard to think of himself as that way for a while; but ever since having an apprentice, well...

"I think that would be our best option," he replied hesitantly. "There's no use in trying to stay separate, I think. Look at what separating from others has done to us in the past... we could use all the allies we could get, right?"
The war still stung Minkstar, they realized. This reminded them of the circumstances that led them to war - division, and a lack of unity. It wasn't a miracle that they came out alive, no, but they had gotten close to defeat at times.
And of course, knowing that their biggest threat had once been one of them...

The two walked home, knowing what was to come.

"So I believe it would be the best for us to unify. How do you think?"
Minkstar's most trusted warriors - and Yarrowleaf - had come around them, now knowing of the threat they had been told.
Iceshiver spoke first, uncertainty creeping in their voice. "Why are we so quick to trust them? They're rogues, after all. They could be lying about everything. --and why have the ancestors not spoken to us first?"
Minkstar's tail twitched. "You were a rogue once, yourself. And not with quite the best past. So I'd advise you not judge them on that."
Iceshiver stood back, still somewhat annoyed.

Minkstar continued. "I know that previous leaders have talked to these groups in the past... so I'd say if we immediately hadn't gotten attacked, or betrayed, or whatnot, I'd say - let's listen to them and give them a fair shot."

While the other warriors still dissented on Minkstar's decision, much to their annoyance; Yarrowleaf stood up for once and added, "Isn't a lack of unity how we got to mass destruction like the war? Come on, guys, we've known them in the past... they're not just random strangers! Have some common sense!"

And while not everyone immediately agreed, it was certain.
They were on the path to unity.
