Like any job, we have a hiring and payment process for all staff members.
Time dedicated to the breed is highly appreciated.
Hiring
Hiring Mods:
-- Mods are people I trust to help keep the breed in line. Those who I witness keeping an adherence to rules and friendly behavior with the community may be offered the position of moderator. There is no application process, I choose those who I deem fit for the position.
Hiring Artists:
-- Adopt artists are hired from an artistic search, where I evaluate the user's ability to create a pleasing, realistic design. In addition to that, there will also be a small quiz to ensure an understanding of the breed and how genetics work. Should an adopt artist then want to become a breeding artist, an additional genetics test will be given and an evaluation of design based on a given breeding.
Hiring Archivists:
-- For now, this job is fulfilled by me. When the need comes for other archivist(s), there will be an application process. It is important that an archivist has already established themselves in the community and is proven to be very active so as to keep the archive updated.
Payment
All non-artist staff members get an equal portion of C$ earned from store purchases each month. In addition to that, every staff member is credited 10 coppers every month of employment. Payday for each of these is the last day of each month. Upon hire, all staff members are also given a medium custom item, immediately added to the user's bank.
Artists who open customs keep the entirety of the custom price. They are also allowed one free custom per month. This can be completed by themselves or another artist, should they be willing to complete it.
Discord
For ease of communication, all staff members must be members of the nord cavall discord.

Adopt Artists
The main artist team.
All adopt artists are expected to produce adopts, remain active in the community, and follow the nord cavall rules.
All adopt artists are entitled to open customs as they please, ask to host events, and moderate on a low level.
- Unless I am notified of an absence, please post at least one adopt every two weeks.
- Your free custom can be made by yourself or another, but please be actively posting adopts if you claim it for the month.
- Genetics are meant to be realistic and accurate. Ask any questions, and you may reference this guide or others.
- Refer to the second post on the main page and the information thread when necessary. Follow those guides.
- When making adopts, try to keep common coats common and rare coats rare.
- Unless approved for an event or special number, never make a chimeric adopt.
- Every time you make a cavall, add me to the image. This is for in the event you are unable to update the image.
- If you are approached with a custom item you feel unable to do, you may ask other artists to assist.
- Use cavall 001 as an example for the form. Specialty can be set or decided by owner.
- Include a halter section in every adoption form, and make sure those requesting specialty halters have on in their bank account.
- Any time an item is used, the artist must notify the banker. This is for adopts, customs, and breedings. Do so before and after the horse is posted.
-----The reason the artist, not the user, does so is because the artist has final say in including the items, and sometimes the horse may not be completed.
Customs
- You may open customs as you please, though please don't be perpetually open.
- All profits, C$ and coppers, are your to keep for whatever custom you create.
- You may raise the prices from those listed below, but you may not lower them. You may chose to accept C$ and/or coppers.
- If accepting coppers, that price must the same number or higher than the C$ prices.
- It is very important that the artist notify the banker of a completed custom, even if payment is in C$.
- (can include any amount of applicable genes)
VC - 25 C$ | C - 30 C$ | UC - 35 C$ | R - 40 C$ | VR - 50 C$
Chim - 50 C$ + each base coat (black + bay is 100 C$, black + splash is 115 C$)
Breeding Artists
Artists who have an additional ability to breed.
All breeding artists are expected to open at least once a month, remain active in the community, and follow nord cavall rules.
Breeding artists are also inherently adopt artists, and maintain the benefits of both positions.
- You may not attach prices to breeding openings.
- Double check that requested pairs are not inbred.
- When posting a foal, be sure to note the date three weeks later that the foal may be bred.
- Additions in the geno (birdcatcher, grease, brindle, etc) should be treated as hetero (25%). Two parents with the same addition would give 50% chance.
- If twin boosting items are applied, the item gets used even if the breeding fails. Other items do not get used, and are returned to user.
- Roll every breeding as follows:
- 5% chance of twins (+percent chance of lilies and supplements).
- If twins, 10% chance of fusing into chimeric foal.
- 10% chance of failure.
- 50/50 roll for sex.
- If a breeding rolls for twins, roll separately for their genetics.
- If a breeding rolls for chimeric, roll separately for each base as if they were twins.
- If a breeding fails, notify banker and send the vet's letter (given below) to the user.
- If a breeding fails and had rolled for twins, notify the banker and send the secondary vet's letter to the user. User gets two lilies.
- You may do your own breeding twice a month if you'd like, but the genetic rolls must be done by me.
- You may have any number of breedings done by other open artists, just like all other users.
Chimeric Parents
- If a parent is chimeric, the passing coat must be determined prior to rolling the foal's genetics.
- Within the chimeric genome, if one coat exhibits dominant Extension [E_], that coat is dominant.
- In the case of one dominant and one non-dominant [ee] coat, roll the dominant as 85% and the non as 15%.
- In the case of two dominant or two non-dominant coats, roll 50/50.
- Use the rolled coat as that parent's passing genome.
- A chimeric parent does not increase the chance of chimeric in a foal.
Vet's Letters
In the event a breeding fails, the vet issues a formal letter to the user.
Artists, please fill in the blanks and send to the user who sent in the breeding. Also tell the banker to add a lily to their account.
One: If a single foal dies.
- Code: Select all
Dear ___,
I regret to inform you of complications in the birth of your foal. Unfortunately, the mare suffered a miscarriage, and will need to recover from the loss. This breeding, though a failure, does count towards the monthly limits of the sire and dam. I've enclosed a white lily, symbolizing the loss of an innocent youth. I've already notified the bank of this transaction.
Regards,
Dr. Vetman
Two: If twins dies.
- Code: Select all
Dear ___,
I regret to inform you of complications in the birth of your foals. Unfortunately, the mare suffered a miscarriage, brought on by the stress of birthing twins, and will need to recover from the loss. This breeding, though a failure, does count towards the monthly limits of the sire and dam. I've enclosed two white lilies, symbolizing the loss of an innocent youth. I've already notified the bank of this transaction.
Regards,
Dr. Vetman

Moderators
Those who I trust to help me keep things running.
- Mods are expected to know all the rules, please keep yourself updated on them.
- Should you see anyone breaking the rules, you expected to calmly diffuse the situation.
- You do not need to report every incident to me if you feel it unnecessary, but bring big issues to my attention.
- Please notify me of extended absences (more than five days).
- If you think of events you want to host (that don't include designing, unless you're also an artist), please let me know!
- If you have concerns regarding another staff member, please private message me. I trust you to keep an eye on even other staff.
- Mods may give 'unofficial warnings,' which are to be no more than 'please don't do that again, and know that your behavior is noted.'
- Mods may not give out official warnings, but if you feel once is necessary, come to me at once.
- It might be helpful if you keep a journal of instances to refer back to, including dates, names, severity, and screenshots.
- Screenshots are important, especially if it's a serious issue.
- Mods help on both chickensmoothie and discord!

Archivist
An exceptionally active individual who keeps track of the cavall directories.
- Archivists must keep the archive updated at least every three days.
- A stables directory must also be kept. Even if links aren't given to you, add them as you find them.
- Additional info may be added to the preset template, but characteristics of the horse may not be taken out.
- If you notice an issue with numbering, mention it immediately.
- If a horse changes ownership, you should be notified by the users and update the archive accordingly.
- If keeping the archive updated is too much, please don't hesitate to ask me for help, and we will find assistants.
