Haloween Prompt Entry!

"This won't look too scary, right?" Candy Apple burbled, a note of worry in her syrupy voice. The mostly-headless deer knew all too well how disturbing she seemed to other, more cervid citizens. With any luck, her costume this year would make somebody laugh. She had tacked a label to her side, displaying "Heinz Tomato Ketchup" along with a cheery drawing of tomatoes. Candy Apple had become a ketchup dispenser. While she didn't actually contain ketchup, her apple-cinnamon shower gel still smelled of the season.

Berry Jelly, her merry familiar, meowed brightly in response. She was dressed in a cute little strawberry hat. With a light thunking of plastic on plastic, the jam cat rubbed along Candy Apple's legs. The plasticky pair may not be quite... organic, but they were definitely, undoubtedly alive. Together, the two misfits shared a certain warmth not felt through their hard shells. "Well, I'm glad you like it, at least," Candy Apple blorped back. A glob of red shower gel dripped from her pump head, landing squarely in the bucket held below. The pumpkin bucket wore the soft smile that Candy Apple could never show on her own face. Or lack thereof. Steeling her courage, the deer trotted out into the Halloween night with her familiar by her side.
