- I strongly discourage only interacting with characters that you want as potential love interests for your characters. That's not the only thing that's the focus for the roleplay

It's up to you if you include it in their form or keep it a surprise, but any character that has it in their form, do not have your character automatically suspicious of them, especially if they're typically a trusted character (unless, of course, said antagonist/villain is being outwardly so).

Glossary
Spellcaster - the term used for those trained to use magic.
Potioneer - a potion maker.
Alchemist - a step up from Potioneer, they use a more advanced system of combining potion work and transmutation.
Healer - term to differentiate Spellcasters from non-magic nurses and doctors (although they can also be referred to as nurses and doctors).
Combater - a Spellcaster that primarily uses magic in tournaments to show off their skill and power. Various prefixes that indicate their 'rank' are also often used, such as 'Casual', 'Pro', 'Elite' and 'Champion'.
Bonemen/women - Spellcasters that are specially trained in the removal and disposal of cursed (accidentally or otherwise) objects.


Verum - a mysterious gold ichor/substance that Spellcasters have within them. They have more as they grow in power and skill. Sort of as the thing that enables Spellcasters to use magic, and it begins to be produced when a student starts learning magic. Theorised that when a student has enough that they can truly start to use magic, which is why it can take so long for someone to begin using magic. It is expelled from the nose or mouth as a gold, wispy gas when the Spellcaster dies.

Rohan Wilder | 23 | Male | 1st Year Spring Student
Pronouns: He/Him
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Rohan has short, black hair that is somewhat curly, and his eyes are dark brown in colour. He is fairly tall, standing at about 5'11'', and holds himself with a somewhat relaxed posture. He has a lithe, athletic build, with a little bit of muscle that's probably surprising to some. He has no particular scars or markings, aside from a few tattoos on his left arm, and has some facial hair.

Personality: A somewhat naive, heart-on-his-sleeve kind of guy. Rohan tries to see the world in a more positive light than it really is, and avoid the harsh realities of it. He's a steady, hardworking young man, and originally worked at a bar, mainly cleaning tables, collecting empty glasses and delivering drinks and food to tables of customers in order to save up to be able to afford attending Featherwick University, on the chance that he ever got the chance to be accepted into it. Warm, friendly, he is known very well by those he frequently comes across. Sometimes, he focuses too much on something to the point that he forgets and ignores everything around him until he is finished - especially if he is working on a song. Rohan is a bit of a romantic, and tends to come on a little too strong when he tries to court someone, which often puts others off him. Despite this, he does not give up hope that he will find someone that will fall for him like he will for them.

Bio: Rohan has always wanted to be a musician. It helps that his mother was a singer, and his father was also a musician and poet - perhaps it's something he was always destined to be, even if it wasn't very lucrative. Indeed, he's always been told he had a knack for music and singing, talents passed down to him by his parents. But there was one other thing... he also wanted to be a spellcaster. He knows that there are many spells that can be cast involving music, so he worked hard, saving up and applying to Featherwick University every year since he was 18. Finally, this year, he was invited to the trials, where he used a unique technique to help him complete some of them - he charmed the maze by singing, and it showed him the way, and in the dome with the bugs, he sang another song that drew the bug he'd been assigned towards him, and the mosquitos to leave him alone. It was, however, almost all for nothing, as he struggled a fair bit with the bridge trial.

Astoria Okoro | 37 | Female | Head of Spring
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Astoria typically has long, black hair occasionally straightened, or left curly and loose and woven with bright orange and yellow threads and flowers, and dark brown eyes. She stands at 5'10'', and has a lithe, somewhat athletic build, and she stands with a semi-formal posture that accentuates her height. She often wears big, glitzy earrings, rings and bracelets.

Personality: Astoria is a warm presence in the university, offering a smile and advice to anyone that may need it - more than happy to open her office doors and talk over a cup of herbal or fruit tea and homemade pastries. She's vibrant and expressive, especially when she teaches, her presence - or lack thereof - noticed by those she's close to. However, she doesn't trust easily. Having her heart broken one too many times has hardened her to romance, to the point of almost being cynical, much preferring to remain friends with others. She's accepted, if disappointedly, that she'll likely remain single for the foreseeable. Astoria is perhaps a little too honest - she maintains realistic expectations and dislikes the idea of getting someone's hopes up only for them to be disappointed later, but tries to be kind about it. She's also quite stubborn - once she has her mind set on something, especially her opinion of other people, it is very difficult to change her mind. For those that she does consider close, though, will find her unwavering loyalty and trust to be invaluable.

Bio: Astoria is from a family of plant-based spellcasters. It was almost too obvious as to what she'd be working towards as she grew up, but she honestly didn't mind. She adores plants and flowers as it is, as well as singing, particularly that in the soul, jazz and blues genre. As according to the magic regulations, she didn't start learning magic until she was 18, being taught primarily the plant based magic and spells by her family. As with all learners of magic, it took a while before she saw any results, but eventually, she started to become an official spellcaster. Over the years, she'd hone her craft, becoming steadily more prominent among the spellcaster community. At first, she'd take her talents to help people with their plants that they accidentally neglected, or helping to teach would-be spellcasters with their studies. Eventually, she was approached by the Head of Featherwick University, offered to take up an official teaching and Head of Spring Track role, which she accepted. When not teaching or doing other duties, she can often be found in the university's vast gardens.

Elias Knight | 28 | Male | Tutor of Magical Theory
Pronouns: He/Him
Sexuality: Bisexual.
Appearance: Elias has short, black hair, and dark brown - almost black seeming - eyes. He stands at about 5'11'', and holds himself with a rigid posture that mirrors his rather rigid personality, and has a somewhat muscular build. He has a fair skin tone, and has a tattoo of a sun sigil on his left forearm.

Personality: Elias is a rather reserved, careful sort of person. He prefers to stick to a schedule, and is unfavourable towards those that seem to disregard this. He knows that his class isn't the most desirable, but considers it very important for all would-be spellcasters to learn about the theory and history behind how magic was discovered and how the regulations came to be. However, he's not quite a cold, unfriendly sort. He does have a warmer side to him, which tends to come out when he's teaching or otherwise talking about something that he's interested in, and tries to be approachable so students don't feel too awkward going to his office or asking for help with assignments or if they're not sure about something from his class. Elias is patient, though perhaps isn't quite empathetic enough to be approached for any personal problems, having a more blunt, straightforward view on things.

Bio: Elias had an... odd upbringing. His parents attempted to hide the fact that magic existed from him, having a deep dislike for it, and when he inevitably discovered the magic was indeed real and that being a spellcaster could be a potential career path, they switched to trying to get him to dislike it as well. Elias, however, just grew more and more curious about it. He knew that they'd never allow him to start studying it when old enough, but that didn't stop him from reading about it. He was entranced by it, ironically enough. If he couldn't study to actually use it, then he was going to study other aspects of it, and thus ended up learning much more about the aspects, theory and history of magic than he ever expected. At 17, Elias met Selene, and at 18, both went to a college to study how to actually use magic - though unfortunately not Featherwick. After they graduated, they got married. At 24, the position for a Magical Theory tutor opened up at Featherwick, which Elias was encouraged to apply for - so he did, and got the job, his knowledge of the subject impressing the hiring team, even despite his inexperience of teaching. All was well. Until two years ago, when Selene died from a serious illness. Elias wears their wedding rings on a cord around his neck, hidden under his shirt.

Lyra Damaris | 22 | Female | 2nd Year Winter Student
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Lyra has black, very curly - almost coily - hair that reaches past her shoulders, and she usually ties back with a silk scarf. She has very dark brown, nearly black, eyes, and she holds herself with a somewhat relaxed posture, and stands at 5'5''. She has a lithe, unassuming build that surprises those unaware. Her dark skin tone doesn't have any particular scars or markings.

Personality: Bright, bubbly and energetic all concisely describe Lyra. It's almost a wonder why she's chosen to take the Winter Track, rather than Spring or Summer, where she'd perhaps be considered more suited - though if asked, she'd just laugh and say something about it's just what she wanted to choose. Really, she's eager to break boundaries and redefine expectations. She can come across as a bit of a ditz, but it's mostly an act so other people will let their guard down around her and underestimate her - something which those that know her well enough will quickly see through. She can also be quite outspoken - though she knows when to keep her mouth shut. However, her bubbliness and energetic self can grate on some people if they find this annoying, and she doesn't seem to take some things as seriously as she perhaps should.

Bio: Lyra's family is... well, rich is the only way to put it, no sugar coating it. Whatever path she wanted to take, her parents could and would fund it, no matter what. Although her parents aren't spellcasters - supposedly her father tried to study magic, but ended up not having the patience for it - Lyra chose it as a path she wanted to take, to try and carve out something of her own rather than defaulting to taking a role in a family business. So, from 18, she'd apply to Featherwick University - only the best for her, of course - but it wasn't until she was 20 that she was invited to the trials, where she failed after only managing to complete three of them. The next year, she applied and was invited back to the trials again, which she managed to succeed in completing and receiving her official acceptance. Now she is in her second year of Featherwick, and looks forward to what the year will bring.

Belle Leroux | 21 | Female | 1st Year Summer Student

Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Belle has shoulder-length brown hair, and soft blue eyes. Her most common expression is a friendly smile, reflecting how kind she is to everyone. Alongside the regular uniform, she always wears a blue ribbon in her hair. When she isn’t in uniform, Belle prefers to wear a blue dress with white details. She’s around 5’6’’ tall.

Personality: The simplest words to describe Belle would be soft, kind, and friendly. With a bright smile, she’s nice to everyone she meets, often receiving the same kindness back. Her goal is to brighten other people’s days, and she seems to succeed at that very easily. When Belle isn’t busy being kind to people, she can be found in the library reading the books. She seems happy to help others if they have questions about their work, and enjoys it when others share her interest in reading.

Bio: As she is open about telling others, she grew up with only her father, losing her mother when she was quite young so never really remembering her. She was relatively privileged with how she grew up, spending much of her childhood reading all sorts of books and getting to do whatever she wished thanks to her father being willing to do anything for her. Belle ended up applying to join Featherwick University because she was curious about magic, and was lucky enough to be accepted and succeeded with the trials! The trial she found the easiest was the Dome, using patience and care to net her assigned bug. The trial she found most difficult was the Doors, due to spending most of her time trying to figure out the mathematical probability of choosing the correct pair. She’s very excited about this opportunity.

Other: Belle is from France, she is fluent in both French and English.
She is almost always seen with some sort of book in her hands.

Theodore Medina | 23 | Male | 2nd Year Autumn Student

Sexuality: Gay
Appearance: Theo has messy black hair, it’s short and spiky and never seems to be neat. He also has brown eyes. However, despite this, his uniform always seems to be perfectly in order. Sometimes perhaps too perfect, as if he’s trying too hard to look normal. When he isn’t in uniform, he likes wearing a yellow hoodie and being very casual. Theo is also noticeably quite short, standing at around 5’1’’, thanks to his family being short.

Personality: The first thing you’ll likely notice about Theo is that he is super anxious. He’s not great with crowds, and he prefers sitting at the back of classes to hide. Hearing his own name makes him nervous, even if it’s from another student. Being very meek and nervous, one may wonder just WHY he joined Featherwick University. And… Well, underneath all the anxiety and nerves, he’s actually quite soft and kind. Sure, he’s a little bit awkward sometimes, but it’s very easy to chalk it up to him not being used to living away from home. He’s pretty nice, and does what he can to make himself seem likeable to others, including changing how he acts depending on who he speaks to in an attempt to make them like him more.

Anyone who knew him from his first year would know that he actually used to be more confident. He was also more open about his ADHD, but appears to be hiding it now. Asking questions gets them quickly brushed off, and if he gets too nervous then he stops speaking English. He’s never been one for making eye contact so he rarely looks directly at people. Theo actually gets distracted very easily, even though he pretends to pay attention to things it can be easy to tell that he has been thinking about other things instead. For those he likes, he seems a bit more open and less anxious, still struggling with eye contact but trying his best with conversations. He tends to notice the smaller things about people, things that are often easily missed by others.
However, some say that they’ve seen this confident side of him. Sometimes his mask slips. It’s rare, and seems like false info, especially as he is quick to hide it if people are around.

Bio: Theodore is not from England. From what he lets other people know about himself; He was born in Mexico, he had a near-death incident involving water, and he abandoned where he lived without a word towards his family (he was an adult who left home). He occasionally mentions an older brother, but they did not stay in contact. Theo joined Featherwick University a year ago, this is his second year as a student there, however he never talks about his first year or how he got through the entry trials. Or, even, how he actually LEARNED about spellcasting in the first place.
In reality, Theo discovered these things when he saw some spellcasters doing something to help others, and grew curious about it. He did some research, applied to multiple schools, and got to do the Featherwick University trials on his second try of applications, which he did average at, but well enough to get through to the end. He ended up choosing the Autumn Track at complete random, not really feeling a strong connection towards any of the four options.

Other: Spanish is his first Language, English appears to be his second. He thinks in Spanish and occasionally forgets the English translation of words, especially when a conversation is going too fast.
Cats are his favourite animal! He loves them a lot, and hopes to have one as a pet in the future.
Prefers to be called by his nickname, Theo, over his full name. Won’t introduce himself as Theodore.

Edward Thompson | 58 | Male | Head of Winter
Pronouns: He/Him
Sexuality: Unknown
Appearance: Standing at around 6'6'' tall, Edward's expression is almost always one of seriousness. With brown eyes, his sharp gaze is cast down upon the students of Featherwick. He has short hair, a silvery grey in colour, reflecting his age and years of experience. This is always kept neat, perfect, as if it were an effortless task for him. Unlike the other tutors, Edward remains incredibly formal with his outfit, always wearing a suit, with the one signifier of his role being his ice blue tie. He's always sharply dressed.

Personality: Much like the coldness of ice and the bitterness of Winter, Edward is not known for being soft or kind. He is very brash, and extremely serious. Speaking up when you are not permitted to will get his sharp glare directed towards you, and, on days where he is feeling particularly irritable, he'll send people to detention for very minor things. Because of this, his Classes are very well known for being some of the most difficult across all of Featherwick. The reason why his teaching style is like this? Well, according to Edward, it's because Winter is unkind to people. The soft snow can very swiftly form into a snowstorm, or a blizzard, and if his students are not prepared for it then they will very quickly fall behind. Despite the harsh nature of his Classes, though, the graduates from his Track have been known to easily move into some of the most difficult jobs.

However, around the other Tutors, Edward is quite a different person. Much of his brash nature is gone, replaced with a quiet respect for everyone. Though unafraid to speak his mind, he also respects that the others know their Students more than he does, and he occasionally offers suggestions to them about things they could try. Sure, he's still very serious, but that comes more with his age than anything. Despite the fact that half of his Classes are held very late at night, he never seems to be tired, a magical marvel. He also seems to genuinely enjoy his classes, perhaps because they're the easiest to have practical lessons for.
Students who come to him with questions outside of their mandatory lessons also tend to see the less-brash side of him. If they have questions, he is happy to answer them, and he seems happy to regularly hold off-schedule classes for those who need them to catch up with any work they may be struggling with.

Bio: From what people know, Edward has lived in the UK all of his life. His childhood was relatively normal, sure one of his parents was a more prominent spellcaster, but that was becoming more and more common by the year. Wanting to give their family a full range of choices, him and his siblings were all taught about magic existing, and while some chose to get more involved with it, others chose to stay in regular education instead. For Edward, the choice was easy, he admired the things that magic could do, and he saw a future where everyone benefitted from it. In-between his regular studies, he sat with his siblings and learned about the basics of Magical Theory from his parents, enthralled by their every word.

When Edward was around 22 years old, he chose to apply for one of the lesser-known Magic Schools, only getting accepted due to a lack of other applicants. As one would expect, things were very easy for Edward, though by the end of it his magical education was lacking in areas where others his age weren't. Luckily, this was good enough as an entryway into the wider world of magic, and he took to applying for some of the higher level magical Universities in order to further his education. Edward seemed to excel in many areas and was told by many of his tutors that, if he wished, he could become a powerful spellcaster and teacher in many of the different types of magic himself. Though humble, he admired what they had all done for him, and chose to further his study into that of teaching.

Edward actually bounced around several different Academies and Universities as a teacher, for multiple different types of magic, before eventually ending up at Featherwick University, first as the Ritual Magic Tutor for 5 years, before eventually being promoted to the Head of Winter after their previous one left. This is where he still stands to this day, being the Head of Winter for approximately 8 years now.

Other: Though Edward's primary magic usage is Cryokinesis, he tends to combine this with the magic from the other Tracks. His two most used non-Winter magics are Aerokinesis, in particular for demonstrations on how harsh ice and snow can be, as well as Sound Magic, primarily to speak to a few students at a time without the others hearing.
Edward is very vocal about how dangerous Cryokinesis and Lunar Magic can be in unexperienced hands, and tends to move students to a different Track if he thinks they can't be responsible with either.
He is always there to observe the entry trials each time they are held, keeping a careful eye on the participants and making sure they are all safe. He also uses them as a way to know which potential students he may want to accept or deny for his Track in advance.
He is happily married! His partner is another spellcaster, and they have several children. He keeps his family life away from his work life, so the other tutors are unaware of this.

Warren Archer | 47 | Male | Head Of Autumn

Appearance: See image

Personality: Warren is a mix between someone who is quite strict, to someone who is quite laid back. Most of the time, during his lessons in early days of the academic year he will lean more towards being laid back, and his teaching might even seem 'fun', however later on in the year and during days when work is due he will be more strict, although he likes students who perform well and favours them more than others. To the other teachers, he is always friendly, figuring that it is best to be in their favour rather than not.

Bio: Warren is from a family of spellcasters, all with various talents. However the one he was most interested in was what his father specialised in, being wind and water magic. Because of this, he had a good relationship with his father, which lead him to finding out about the underground magic battles, which his father dominated. As such, he started to practise this magic, however he would use it in official competitions, in which after winning one quite spectacularly (using some tricks he had learned from his father) the Head of Featherwick University learned of him and asked him to take up teaching and the role of Head of Autumn, which he accepted. When not teaching or doing other duties, he can usually be found either in his office or in the gym.

Lance West | 22 | Male | 1st Year Spring Student
Pronouns: He/Him
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Lance has medium length light brown hair, which he usually combs back. He has hazel brown eyes, and stands at 5'3''. He's got quite an athletic build, although not too much. His white skin tone is rather unremarkable, aside from a small scar on his left ankle.

Personality: Lance likes to talk to others, and would consider himself as quite outgoing, although he tends to judge a book by its cover and forms opinions on people based on his first interaction with them, or even just by looking at them. He can perhaps come off as quite rude because of this, and it also means he will tend to take a certain side quite easily as well. This does mean that if he likes someone because of this, he will be very friendly towards them, and perhaps even too easily trusting of them as well.

Bio: Lance was brought up quite modestly, his family had money to get by, but not enough to afford any luxuries. Despite this, he still wanted to practise magic, and dedicated himself to working hard to be accepted into Featherwick. He always liked plants, being part of a community garden for many years, so that heavily inspired him to go for being part of the Spring class, even despite him cutting his ankle while gardening once. Due to his hard work, he managed to earn himself a scholarship to Featherwick University, and was of course invited to participate in the trials, which he succeeded in. Since it's his first year, he has no idea what exactly is in store, but will work hard regardless.
