Name: Ka'van Soeray
Codename: Wraith
Age: 24 in human years
Gender: Male / Hermaphrodite
Species: Alien half demon (Talgan)
Sexuality:
His people don't practice sexuality as humans do. They are hermaphrodites, or having male and female anatomy. They go by "male" and "female" depending on which one they best represent. However, there are no 'sexualities', as no one is naturally biased towards one or the other. The complicated state of human sexuality is something that Ka'van has yet to understand.
Personality:
Ka'van is a somber and laconic soul. He is mild mannered, soft spoken, polite, and often compassionate. He is well practiced in calmness and patience. Rarely does something get a rise out of him. While he can be fierce in battle, there is almost never a time that he loses that sense of self control. Ka'van carries a great weight on his shoulders that forces him to stay in control, otherwise his demon half could overtake him.
Abilities:
Telekinesis / Shadow Manipulation
He can phase through solid objects.
He can use his control over shadows to blot out light, making a dome of darkness around himself and potential enemies.
He has telekinesis, being able to lift objects as large as a city bus with just his mind. Anything larger would cause himself injury.
He can also use this ability to levitate and fly.
Ka'van can produce telepathic energy tendrils with his powers, which he can use in battle to grab, crush, and strike his enemies.
He can also produce the same energy in ball form for a strike attack.
But these powers come with weaknesses. Should Ka'van strain himself past his limits, he may experience seizures, or even brain bleeds in extreme cases. While he can recover from both given his species impressive healing rate, he would be down for the count for quite a while.
Another weakness of his is the lack of shadows or darkness. While such a state can be hard to find, it can be artificially produced, and has been used to control him on the rare occasions that he gets out of hand.
Appearance:
When he appears as Wraith, Ka'van is a solid black figure with bright, glowing red eyes, clothed with a tattered, grey cloak. He stands at 5'11" and has a lean muscular build.
In his civilian form, Ka'van still stands out from other people. He is clearly not human. Even among his own kind, he was different. His skin is dark grey like ash, and he lacks any body hair save for what's on his head. His skin is completely smooth and devoid of blemishes; even when injured, once healed, he doesn't form scars. His eyes are bright red with black pupils, no white. His lips are black, and his fingernails are a darker grey. His hair is messy and pitch black.
History:
Ka'van's world was once happy, peaceful, and prosperous. That was, until they came. His people called them the Skaliks, meaning "souless" in his native language. This name was well earned by their vicious and unprovoked attack on his people. Ka'van was born 5 years before the Skaliks landed on his planet and began to wage war.
Talgans are a very spiritual race. It's thought that their planet is close to a thinning in the veil that separates our dimension from a demonic, parallel universe. This veil had caused problems in the past, allowing demons to roam their planet, provoking the ancient Demonic War. The veil was sealed by Talga's most powerful members, and was held shut for centuries. However, when it became apparent that they were on the losing end of the Skalik/Talgan war, the leader became desperate.
They gathered several young children and began a highly controversial ceremony to create a super race, bonded with the powerful demons of the other realm. These warriors were kept secret until they were deemed old enough to fight. Ka'van was among these super soldiers. They fought tooth and nail, and finally defeated the Skaliks, but at a steep cost. His planet was barren and war torn, all of his fellow super soldiers had been killed, and most of his family was gone. The only family he had left was his mother, who was left crippled from battle.
Once the war was won, the veil had to be closed back so that demons couldn't pour out of it as they had in the ancient times. However, to close it, all demonic presence had to be purged from the planet, meaning Ka'van had to leave. He took his banishment with surprising grace. After all, he kind of knew it was coming. He decided that he would follow the Skaliks in case they tried to attack another unsuspecting civilization. Clearly, they didn't let him down.
Ka'van arrived on Earth about a year ago, after finding out the Skaliks made it their new war grounds. He made contact with the human military alliance and was quickly accepted as a valuable asset, seeing as he'd fought these creature before. Being used as a weapon was not a new concept to him.
Notes:
He's a vegetarian, and lactose intolerant. He eat mostly plain oats and water, as they are biologically similar to the grain that is a staple in his people's diet.
Those who are around him while he is in his Wraith form complain that he makes the atmosphere around him bone chillingly cold. A good way to know if he's nearby is whether or not you can see your breath on a warm summer evening.
Ka'van is at constant war with the demon he is bonded to. If his emotions become too negative, it begins to gain control. Because of this, he must meditate daily and keep his mood in check.
