TO NOTE: in this au, military recruitment begins at 18, so all characters must be 18+. otherwise, you're free to do as you please! the story will begin with the future scouts and existing officers, and we will not return to a "training" arc after we have left it. the majority of the story past that will take place outside the walls. all of our good, sweet guys, gals, and pals will be in the scouting legion for simplicity, and the story will focus there.

wren's primary function is the pursuit of pleasure and amusement. he understands the
importance of the role that he has taken in preventing humanity's extinction, and takes
it seriously, however. his demeanor is a stark contrast to the dull, reserved aura of his
brother. wren is the sort to be "friends with everyone", because his personality and
behavior demands attention, and his survival is seemingly hinged on receiving it.
despite his carefree and humorous attitude, he worries far more than it appears.
after several years of lacking a guarantee that sky would even survive, he has a hard
time not fussing over him, and anything that happens to him feels to be wren's
responsibility, though he is the only one that thinks this. wren cares deeply for those
closest to him, but getting close to him is a challenge. not because he is cold or unkind—
he is quite the opposite— but because his emotional theatrics are only theatrics, meant
to be exaggerated and entertaining. what he truly thinks and feels is often a mystery.
to everyone but sky, that is. despite being more socially adept than his brother, wren
falls prey to the idea that he doesn't actually need anyone else to be close to him in
the same way, so the darkest, most turbulent parts of his mind are reserved for his sole
emotional companion. the codependency is unsustainable and severe, but it hasn't failed
either of them just yet.

❅ skylark is as closed off and introverted as they come. he regards
everyone with a cold, aloof attitude, keeping everyone at bay with
a ten foot pole. he may come off as shy, in that he is wholly
withdrawn from social interaction and is apprehensive of getting
involved with people that haven’t already earned his trust. sky is
not scared, nor does he come off as unconfident, rather he tends
to come off as overconfident and intimidating due to his ability to
get things done quicker and better than most people. determined
and deeply goal-driven, sky is a hard worker that rarely seems to
take breaks, always busy doing something, pushing himself and
his body to their limits, dangerously toeing the line of healthy work
ethics and painful breaking points. he may come off as snappy or
snarky, not afraid to tell others off when he has had enough of their
antics, seemingly unsympathetic and intolerant of nonsense.
however, underneath the thick layers of isolation he has put up,
sky is actually a pretty soft and kind person. very few people get
to see this side of him, and he’s liable to get violent if someone he
doesn’t trust gets their hands on this information. he’s very loving
towards his twin behind closed doors, perhaps going so far as to
dote on him to make sure that he’s okay and doing well. he has a
fondness for animals, and might be found tending to sick or
wounded ones during his free time. incredibly gentle, he’s actually
pretty sensitive, both emotionally and physically, his poor health
being his weakness and big secret kept behind lock and chain.
sky finds it hard to trust others and has issues with letting other
people into his life, whole-heartedly under the impression that
wren is the only person he needs to be happy. ❅

❅ skylark and wren were born to rather well-off parents in the
utopia district within wall rose, allotting themselves a pretty
comfortable life, not having to worry about important things such
as food and shelter, and being able to afford nice things for
themselves.

skylark has been sick since a very young age, almost losing his
own life due to illness brought upon him by a severe
immunodeficiency disease. lacking in t-cells that help protect him
from infection and disease, skylark has been very susceptible to
illness the moment he was born. the first few years of his life he
spent surrounded by doctors and medical instruments to help
ensure his survival, as without them he’d succumb to the bacteria
constantly invading his body. to this day, he fears doctors and
getting medical assistance, afraid that he’ll once again he’ll end up
completely bedridden and on the brink of death, strangers
observing him and treating him as a science experiment and not a
human being.
this ordeal has left skylark rather weak and frail, bruising and
getting sick very, very easily. he’s prone to fevers, rashes, and
inflammation of the lungs and lymph nodes, and it’s not unusual
for him to experience seizures. he coughs and wheezes when his
lungs get really bad, vision can swim and become unfocused, and
he’s prone to bouts of confusion, especially during fevers and after
seizures. he tries to hide his health record, however, and forces
himself to behave and do things like a normal person so that no
one would ever know how sickly he actually is. ❅

❅ faceclaim is yato from noragami. he looks as you’d expect from an
ackerman: short, black hair, and cold, dead pale eyes. his skin is
unnervingly pale, with a slight blue undertone from his
immunodeficiency disease. it has quite a few nicks as scars due
to his fragile skin and working with sharp objects, but nothing too
noticeable. his black hair is a bit longer, with an overshadowing
fringe and soft, delicate strands. eyes are a pale icy blue-silver,
usually narrowed and harsh, but a certain someone often gets to
see them in their softer, more genuine tone. skylark dresses
incredibly plainly, but he does have a nice, soft scarf he tends to
wear daily. at first it was to cover up rashes and other marks on
his neck, but he grew to enjoy the warm fabric [and also it tends
to smell like wren]. ❅
