"Larkkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Larkpaw. Your mentor will be Flecknose. I hope Flecknose will pass down all they know on to you. "

The brown mackerel tabby's heart pounded wildly in her chest as her clan welcomed her, officially, into their ranks; shouting, chanting her name to the heavens above. "Larkpaw, Larkpaw!" It was in this moment that the tabby molly would catch the eye of a handsome ginger tabby for the first time, and her own amber gaze met that of the older apprentice's green. It was the first time, though not the last, that Larkpaw would stare deep into the charming tom's forest green eyes and though she could not, and still could not, explain why; Larkpaw was intensely drawn to the muscular Firepaw in a way she was yet capable of explaining.

Though she could scarcely find the words to explain why, even now, Larkpaw desired nothing more but to be close to Firepaw and since the day their gazes had first met one another, Larkpaw sought out friendship from the flame-pelted apprentice. Though Larkpaw did manage a friendship with the ginger tabby, it was a tentative relationship at best. Firepaw was several moons her senior, and though he found the newly named apprentice to be companionable enough, he was much more absorbed in his professional, and very adult, relationships of then that of with the minor.

-- larkwhisker gives birth to a litter of three in late leafbare; two toms, thornkit (black mackerel tabby) and kestrelkit (black mackerel tabby), and one molly, lizardkit (tortoiseshell tabby). lizardkit is born sickly.
-- kestrelkit is the worst of his litter; a huge troublemaker, lively and carefree.

-- the litter become apprentices. thornkit is apprenticed under gorseclaw, lizardkit is apprenticed under oakpelt, and kestrelkit is apprenticed under jaytail.
-- lizardpaw is oakpelt's first apprentice and he proves inexperienced in teaching another cat. gorseclaw is a kind and unstanding mentor, she is an wise, well-respected senior warrior and crafts thornpaw well. jaytail is the toughest of all the mentors, though a nice cat, and shapes his apprentice kestrelpaw vigorously.
-- a moon after kestrelpaw becomes an apprentice, hollykit and maplekit become apprentices. hollypaw is apprenticed under alderheart and maplepaw is apprenticed under rookcloud.
-- kestrelpaw is delighted to see maplepaw and continues his friendship with her, though he becomes bitter towards hollypaw when he joins the bully mousepaw. kestrelpaw and maplepaw grow a close friendship.
-- the next leaf-fall, the clan suffers through an outbreak of greencough. a lot of the young, old and unhealthy cats fall ill and there is not enough medicine to go around. lizardpaw has a poor immune system and falls ill.
-- lizardpaw dies.
-- larkwhisker takes lizardpaw's death hard and withdraws from the world. she pushes away her mate and eventually both of her sons, too. larkwhisker falls into a depression and doesn't take part in normal clan life.
-- kestrelpaw wakes up one day to find larkwhisker gone, having deserted the clan.
--kestrelpaw withdraws from his friends and family and blames everything possible for his mother's abandonment, and though maplepaw tries to help him, he pushes her away. it isn't until a moon before he is due to graduate that he and maplepaw come back together.
-- kestrelpaw grows attached, if not dependent to maplepaw.

-- kestrelpaw becomes kestrelfeather and thornpaw becomes thornnose. soon after, hollypaw becomes hollytuft and maplepaw becomes mapletail.
-- mapletail confesses that she loves kestrelfeather, and kestrelfeather says he loves her too. mapletail is called out on patrol right after, and they agree to talk later. mapletail is killed by a fox and kestrelfeather loses faith in starclan.

Russetblaze is most definitely the definition of “tomboy”. She isn’t afraid to join wrestling matches or just get down and dirty in general. Actually, her favorite kithood memories are mostly of her and Pumaheart wrestling for leadership within their large litter. Being a medicine cat hasn’t changed this one bit! Fire still plays with apprentices, sneaks out to walk with patrols on the pretense of searching for herbs, and jokes with just about any cat she speaks to.

Being so carefree often makes her appear unserious and a goof of a medicine cat, but that is not the case at all! When the time calls for it, Russetblaze becomes very serious. When treating patients, she doesn’t joke hardly as much unless it’s to calm the other party down and distract them from pain. Her mentor taught her the importance of taking her duty with the utmost seriousness when it calls for it, and she follows what the wise cat taught her quite strictly.

Fighting is something Russetblaze loves to do, but only with the right purpose. If a fight is merely for the joy of watching blood drain from an opponent, obviously that’s a terrible reason. She isn’t blood-thirsty and would never allow her leader or anyone in the Clan to start battles for foolish reason if she could. Being taught how to save lives and the purpose of it made Russetblaze realize that life is too precious to use claws for the wrong reasons. Her adoptive brother saw his blood mother die in a mindless battle and she doesn’t want that grief for anyone. She promised herself when she recently stepped up as Medicine Cat of the clan that she would do anything to keep those around her from feeling the pain Owltail’s death brought her best friend and brother. Perhaps that is why StarClan brought her to the position, due to the sheer determination of such a goal.

Titles aren’t something to be flaunted in Russetblaze’s eyes. She finds those who rub their rankings in the faces of others repulsive. Just because she heals and has a connection with StarClan doesn't mean she’s any different from the warriors of her Clan. Being singled out because of her great accomplishments isn’t particularly something she enjoys. It makes her happy to help in any way she can, she doesn’t need some fancy title or unreasonable amounts of respect. All she wants is the happiness of her family, friends, and Clan.

Although Russetblaze has several good and bad points, being stubborn is a bit of a double-edged sword for her. While it can be good for healing someone others have given up all hope on, the fact that she refuses to back down from a challenge even after she’s failed is the bad point of this personality trait. Russet simply cannot give up on something she believes in, not until she’s satisfied with the results. Despite if a cat dies because she couldn’t save them, Russet continues to try and find a way to prevent that from happening again. Often times she gets so wrapped up and clings to these self-assigned missions so hard, she strays from what she should be doing. Once her mind is on something, it’s difficult for her to moderate how much time she uses to work on it or give up on it all together. To her, there is always a way, and unless someone snaps her out of this phase of need and stubborn want, she won’t stop. It’s easy for her to obsess over her guilt or mistakes and try in vain to fix them so it’d be good for her to have someone to help her stop this bad trait from getting the better of her.
