I have a dog that used to act similarly and it turned out he had a problem with resource guarding. Did your other dog have a toy or anything with them when the foster dog got aggressive? In any case, I hope the situation gets better and less stressful for you :(


Fox, I think any interactions with him and other twst characters would be really interesting! And I agree that Spirit’s ability to keep track of everything is definitely something I envy haha,, but I’m curious to see who you’ll pick if you do add another :3 (even if they aren’t from twst)

That is actually his problem, but...he resource guards people. They claim it's still resource guarding. The trainer said he can't be trained out of it...supposedly. Like...whatever...I've seen dogs on a show get taught that the human is in charge and they can't guard their food or anything and need to let the human take it away when the human wants to, or whatever. Anyway, he was on top of some blankets and pillows. My mom thinks he was "protecting" me and my sister the first time. Then, the second time he was by my sister again. My mom is afraid he'll hurt my older sisters cat(s) someday, though. She said he got off his bed, which he never does. He went after the male cat, Oscar. He also was going over by Penny. Before he went by Penny, she approached him earlier in the day and he was watching and I...don't know if he was just watching or would have done something, but luckily she ended up moving away. He was also like...bothering the other female cat the night before, too.

He just...really scared us, and they'd already said we shouldn't actually have a dog like this. He was just so bad it scared us all...Mom is afraid he'll just get worse and worse, and so am I. She says the rescue owner won't take him back, and she literally said "What, does she want us to keep him until someone actually gets attacked?"

Like...that makes me mad. We don't know what happened when he was adopted the first time, so Maggie (rescue owner) told my mom he's probably just scared. I think mom is annoyed because she was told to try and make it calmed here. There is no way...not with my cousins kids.

@Spirit ohh hmm, I haven’t heard of them resource guarding people before, but I guess that makes sense,, :( I’m certainly not someone who has worked professionally with dogs, but I think maybe it would be good to try to limit the areas in your family’s space where he can go and maybe let the other pets go in those areas to be away from him. Training would probably be pretty difficult since dogs usually seem to resource guarding because of their prior experiences/feeling insecure, but there are ways to make them feel more secure as well as avoid the situation in the first place (my dog resource guards toys so now we just have a lot of them available at once, but I’m not sure how this could apply to resource guarding people,,)

Maybe you could see if someone in the area would want to try training him? (At the very least, it seems like he might do better in a situation where he is the only pet and probably with no small children,,) that’s easier said than done though, so if you need to keep him for a while then I would try to get something that can at least break his attention if he gets aggressive (spray water at his face, have something to tug on his collar that is far away from your hand, maybe something to make a sharp loud noise, throwing a blanket over him so he can’t see the other animal, or potentially a dog-safe scent spray near his face) for a distraction. Try not to use your hands to grab him though or else you could get bitten. I am really sorry this is happening though, and I know how upsetting something like this can be :( Again, I am not a professional when it comes to dogs, but these are the things that seem to have worked with ones that my family has had and trained.
