Okay, since I am taking so long to decide on the coding I would like to use, I would love if y'all could give me some help choosing a horse to be Heart.

Option 1

He's a registered paint stallion, Paint 'Em All Done. Ee aa DD TT, and his actual genetic code has proven to be dominant for dun and tobiano. I mean, just look at this boy! I believe he is double registered a paint and a Quarter.
LOOOKIE
You can also look at his ADORABLE foals if you search around a bit!

Option 2

Painting Freedom, doubly registered as a Thoroughbred and paint. Quite literally gorgeous! According to a site I found from his owners, he is a dominant white on true black, but presents as an overo? EE aa ww.

Thoughts?

@suzycu
I like option number 1 ^^

@stitch
So I suppose you hated the horse who played Black Beauty in the 1994 movie? cx I thought he was quiet good looking... I absolutely hate most halter quarter horses, those things are absolutely deformed and ugly, but, while they're not my favorite look, most non-halter quarter horses look pretty normal and fine to me.

I have found that I don't generally like the way Quarters ride. My family owns a group of crossbreeds (American Saddle x TN Walker x Heck if we know), and they are so smooth that I honestly thought my friend's mare Honey was just a mess. They are great for work animals (When they haven't been bred up to be extremely large and muscled) due to their inherent senses, sturdyness, and strength, but I dislike them as anything else. I come from a setting where we only pleasure ride or drive, so most 'well bred' pedigree breeds look funny and fragile to me. Or just really strange. Despite this, I do believe that my first option is really pretty. He's not as bulked out as some show quality Qhs I have come across, and that is likely because of him being a paint as well. Honestly, I was guessing that he was a Quarter, because his owner allows him to be studded out to Paints and Quarters.

Since the majority voted from the first one, I will try to get him information up tomorrow! My family might be going out on a day ride, so it might not come until later.

Ha, well if you ever want to look at 'normal' quarter horses sometimes, fly out to eastern Texas. 99% of people around here own at least one purebred QH and they're pretty normal looking. It's about all you'll see out here. Quarter horses.

I think some Egyptian Arabians are deformed, yes, for sure, I also think some aren't that bad if we're going just off head shape. I think this head is okay, but when you get to things like this and this then it's like yeaahhhh, no. I hate the seahorse head shape. I also don't like when they breed to make noses very small like a llama.

I don't think these heads are exclusive to the Egyptian strain though, just the Arabians strictly bred for / shown in halter... Which yeah, I guess tends to be Egyptians. Whenever any type of animal is bred or shown only for looks they seem to really go downhill in quality and get funky looking (ex. in other species, show ring German Shepherd Dogs) At least, that's how it is in America.

I like Marwaris, although admittedly I haven't looked at a lot of them. I also like Akhal-Teke's, although some are definitely 'noooo' looking. I like the picture of the stallion I used for Anubis.

@suzycu
Ha, yeah my Quarter horse appy girl is quiet bouncy at the trot... My Arabian Pepper is far bouncier though, lol. You have to work a lot more riding her. When I owned Hera's mom, a 50% Friesian 50% Tenn.Walker cross, she was so, so smooth at the trot I never experienced anything like it. It was like we were gliding. It's the only thing I'd say I miss about her.

@suzycu: if he’s double-registered as AQHA and APHA, he’s basically just a quarter horse with color. That’s what paints are, anyways. They hold the same stocky build like an AQHA breed, just have color. They’re also APHA if they’re an Appendix with color, (50/50 QH & TB)

I’m not very biased against QH’s, since I have always owned them my entire life. I don’t have Halter-bred quarters, though. In fact, my 19 y.o. gelding looks more like a tb with high withers and a slight uphill body, as he was born with jumping bloodlines (Wimpy). My paint mare is halter-bred, but she doesn’t have the teeny tiny legs like most quarters. She’s actually got almost PERFECT conformation, in my own opinion. She’s got extremely muscular legs that are proportionate to her body. Her only downfall is that she has a slightly shorter back than i’d prefer, but it doesn’t change anything. Not to mention that she’s got a keen eye and a beautiful headset. She doesn’t drag her nose in the dirt when we ride, and she doesn’t have it arched like an Arabian unless she gets really excited.

My QH and Paint are honestly my opinion of the β€˜perfect’ quarter horse, because all their gaits are natural. My gelding has a nice, slow, comfortable trot (he drags his toes bc he’s lazy), and a rocking canter. My Paint has a shorter, choppier stride (she has straighter legs) and really hurts to ride if she goes fast, but she’s tolerable at the same time. She also has the rocking horse canter, and isn’t too slow or too fast. When I show, I see a lot of quarters who go against me and they have the stupid canter that makes them go in place. See, I like a ground-covering canter. Not too fast, but not too slow. Anyways, I’ve had a few judges favor my gelding over others because he has a nice, medium canter and can shift through his gaits with ease, (working, regular, relaxed) and it’s gotten me some pretty nice comments.

Anyways, I’m not always fully adept to quarters, I absolutely love warmbloods, thoroughbreds, Rocky Mountain horses, fox trotters, mutts, appaloosas, and draft crosses.
