Think I’ll add a friends and enemies category so we can keep track of those relationships as well.

ooh, great lore info. could i also ask for more info on the gunner role? what're his duties on a normal day? i was picturing something along the lines of being a tactical advisor for the leader & lieutenant when needed, and helping to coordinate battle training for the sailors etc, but wanted to clarify / know what else i should be aware of :'D
This is going to be another long post haha. I’ll probably add another post to the main page that talks about the specifics of each role while I’m doing it here. But that probably won’t get done till this upcoming weekend when I have more time to write out descriptions.
The gunner is a significant (and busy!) role in the tribe. In times of conflict, the gunner works closely with the captain to devise combat strategies, plan attacks or defenses, and determine the best positioning for sailors. They assess enemy weaknesses, lead war councils in preparation for major battles, and gather insights from key sailors, the lieutenant, and field medics to evaluate the tribe's readiness. Constantly alert to external threats—such as Swashbuckler's rogue group or environmental dangers—the gunner advises the captain on whether to engage in conflict or opt for strategic defense. Before battles, they may also lead or assist in speeches to rally the warriors, invoking the ancestors and seeking the favor of Arcadia.
The gunner is responsible for deploying sailors, assigning tribe members to roles based on their individual strengths. As an example, for a stealth mission, the gunner would use their deep knowledge of each cat’s abilities to select a few who can move silently and blend into the environment with ease.
Maintaining combat readiness across the tribe is another key duty. The gunner oversees battle drills, refines fighting techniques, and runs simulations to prepare for potential threats. During peace times, they help settle internal disputes, upholding fairness and order while ensuring that tensions don't escalate. They also uphold the tribe's laws and customs, making sure all tribe members follow the captain's commands.
The gunner plays a crucial role in the training of apprentices, overseeing their development and conducting skill tests to evaluate their capabilities. They may conduct surprise assessments to gauge an apprentice’s progress and provide mentors with detailed feedback. Ultimately, the gunner is responsible for approving apprentices' readiness, and during apprenticeship ceremonies, they give their blessing for an apprentice to take on the role of a sailor or field medic.
The captain, lieutenant, and gunner form the leadership triad of the tribe, working closely together to maintain order and discipline. They are trusted confidants, relying on one another to ensure the tribe’s well-being and unity.
