• ❨ who is he? ❩ •
smokestorm is a rather polite tom, who does his best to be helpful in any way he can around the
clan; whether that means being the first to volunteer for patrols, offering to help the elders
clean out their dens, or aiding the medicine cats when their stocks are running low, he can always
be counted on to offer a helping hand. the reason why he is constantly overachieving is due to him
secretly being very insecure about the standards his father set for him as a youth, wanting to prove
his worth. this is also the reason why he feels such an attachment to younger cats, whether they be
kits or apprentices, because there's a part of him that wants to be a better father-figure than he had.

honestly, his parents were both too young and naïve to have kits at their age. turtlestep and
ravenwhisper were only sixteen moons, barely being made warriors, when ravenwhisper fell
pregnant and the pair became mates. neither of them had both of their parents growing up
to raise them, so they didnt know how to be healthy parents to little smokestorm when he
was born. he decided to succeed as much as he could, to thrive in an attempt to spite his parents.
his father was always pushing him to work harder, despite his best efforts. so when turtlestep
was killed a few moons after he became a warrior by a random hunting accident, and ravenwhisper
left the clan, he was completely content to never have to deal with his parents again.

doesong is incredibly loyal to her clan, mostly because she is thankful to them
for taking her in, teaching her the ways of a warrior, and essentially saving her life.
she is the type of cat that even if she disagrees with what she is told to do by her
leadership, she won’t outright disrespect anyone or question their decisions. she is
a highly intelligent cat though, & so she has no problem seeking out the company of
the cat who she disagrees with to sit down & discuss things so that she can better
understand. she is not the type to tell someone they are wrong or argue just because
they have a different belief from her; she enjoys having intellectual conversations w/
others to expand her horizons, & hopefully broaden their minds as well.

doesong was born to a couple of kittypets who had fallen in love, and whose two-legs
had decided to let them have one litter of kittens to grow their family before having
her parents spayed/neutered. doesong was the only girl, the third born with two brothers,
and as such her parents, and the two-legs, seemed to adore her. technically, only the female
two-leg was a "cat person", but her partner put up with the five cats out of respect and love
for his mate. unfortunately, just a few moons before she turned 12 moons of age, her
two-leg grew incredibly sick and passed away. her two-legs partner kept her parents,
found alternative homes for her brothers, but had some resentment for her. she had been
the late two-leg's favorite of the cats, and for some reason, the male two-leg couldn't
get over his anger whenever he looked at her, so he abandoned her in the house when he
moved out. thankfully, she managed to escape through a window that had been left
cracked open, and after being on her own for about a dozen moons, came across the
clan a few moons ago.

Description. Leafpaw is a tortie silver tabby. She has bright, olive green eyes and a pink nose; both are strikingly delineated in black. Most of her stripes appear gray, but at times fade into a soft orange color, and get muddier atop her back. The pads in her front paws are spotted pink and black, while her the bottom of her back paws—both fur and pads—are a solid black. She has short fur everywhere except for on her tail, where it grows fluffy and long.

Personality.
Impetuous - Brash - Impatient - Energetic - Eager - Clever - Insecure
Leafpaw is a somewhat imprudent apprentice. She is a skilled hunter and an agile fighter, but she gets easily bored of other apprentice duties and is quick to complain. The hardest transition she had to make from her time as a kit has been watching other members of the clan take fresh-kill before her, as she has a voracious appetite. She's honey-tongued and competent enough that she can get away with some minor offenses, but she has been stuck with tick and bedding duty at the elders' den perhaps more than any other apprentice in the Clan. She can also be a bit mean-spirited toward her peers. Despite her outward bravado, Leafpaw is easily startled, especially by loud noises, and she is afraid of thunderstorms and predators. She is deeply embarrassed and aggressively defensive of this, as she considers it her biggest flaw.


Backstory. RedwoodClan took Leafpaw in over five moons ago, when she was
still a kit. She was separated from her mother and siblings (rogues) in a thunderstorm. She
bolted into the forest after lightning struck the redwood under which they made their den,
felling a heavy branch in a sudden burst of sparks and deafening cracks right on top of
their home. Smokestorm found her two days later—muddy, scared and mewling loudly as
she grew weak and desperate from hunger. Smokestorm promised to find her mother and
siblings, tragically confirming that only little Leaf had been spared the wrath of nature. He
recovered their bodies, held vigil with Leaf and buried them. Leafpaw barely remembers the
incident, though she still has hazy nightmares about it from time to time.

Already old enough to eat fresh-kill, Leafkit didn't need nursing, though sweet Cloverpond,
despite having her paws quite full, cared for her as best as she could as Leafkit recovered
from the fright of her experience, the confusion of losing her family, and as she adjusted to
Clan life.

Once she settled in, Leafkit's precocious personality began to shine through. She goaded other kits into troublemaking often, only joining them when the chances of getting caught were low. She and Basilkit got into serious trouble once by sneaking out of camp. Leafkit often butted heads with Petalkit, a much more considerate soul, who often pointed out Cloverpool ha enough to worry about without Leafkit stirring up trouble.

She was named Leafpaw and apprenticed to Smokestorm at six moons old.

• Cloverpond | ★ | Cloverpond took care of Leakfit as she adjusted to life in the Clan as if she were part of her own litter. Leafpaw is extremely fond of Cloverpond, though she doesn't respect her as well as she probably should, sometimes taking advantage of her permissive and forgiving nature.
• Petalpaw | ★ ✓ ✗ |Leafpaw loves to push Petalpaw's buttons; in her eyes, her sister can be a bit of a try-hard know-it-all, and Leafpaw enjoys "putting her in her place." Leafpaw's cruel attitude has frayed their relationship in recent moons. She doesn't really understand the damage she is causting, and if she did, she would be distraught, since she cares for Petalpaw deeply.
• Ravenflight | ✓ | As a kit, Leafpaw loved to hear Ravenflight tell stories, and grew to admire her. As an apprentice, Leafpaw's grown fond of interrupting. More than once, when picking ticks out of Ravenflight's pelt, she's gotten mouse bile in her mouth while trying to smart back at Ravenflight mid-task—you'd think she'd learn her lesson...

@oceanz, I've made this a tentative backstory because it's the idea I have, but I am open to adjusting it to better suit the roleplay needs c: let me know if there's anything!
Also, I left it ambiguous for now as it would've probably been Claystar's decision: would the Clan have let her know that her mother and siblings died, or would they have kept that from her? Perhaps they'd have revealed it when she was apprenticed or they plan to when she becomes a warrior?
I would love to replace colored text in Leafpaw's backstory with existing RedwoodClan cats:

@believe-hwu,If you're open to it, I think Cloverpond would be a great fit to have helped raise Leafkit, given the timing... in fact, she probably had a paw in raising all of the Clan's current apprentices, given Olivebranch's untimely death (unless there were other queens at the time that I missed? If you'd rather not have that be part of Cloverpond's story, though, I can probably create an NPC. It could be a cool way of explaining why the Clan was so welcome to a former kittypet, though: they needed her!).
@aluco, I think, especially if believe-hwu takes me up on Cloverpond helping raise Leafpaw, that she and Petalpaw might have developed a rivalry, would you be open to that?
Leafpaw is also in search of a mentor, anyone who'd like to take on the challenge of an unruly apprentice? I would ideally like to see Leafpaw grow into a more responsible warrior and work through some of her kithood trauma, which is the seed of a lot of her acting out. She (probably) won't shed her brashness, but I'd like to see her blunt some of her edge, lol. If anyone would like to mentor her on that journey, that would be lovely c:

@leafbreak - I could see my Tom having been the one to find your apprentice and then request to mentor her? most cats don’t see that side of him, but deep down he would make a wonderful father figure to someone.
