School starts on September 9th for me, which is like a week later than normal, which is a bit odd, but I'm not complaining. I still have summer homework to do. oops

Tail

Rough, cracked scales from exposure to the sun that show a hint of an iridescent gleam. They would be a vibrant shade of sky blue, however have dulled to a dirty grey-blue with harsh shading. Her fin is cracked and tattered from tussling with another mermaid. She has spiny appendages from the underside of her tail which appear hard - she did cut them to have a razored edge to give her a more menacing appearance.

History

Rebekah grew up with two alcoholic parents who argues constantly. Her mother kept her home to be 'home schooled' but rather left her to run errands and do her own thing. This did lead to her getting into the wrong crowd which did generate abuse outside of the home from her 'friends'. When her mother discovered this she became tough on Rebekah forcing her to stay home and if she didn't do as she was told, did receive punishment.

Personality

Rebekah is a good friend to those that she trusts, which would be Talia, who she puts her absolute faith into. She is the protective type and looks out for Talia as and when she can, but keeps her distance from the rest of the tribe. Despite her friendship with Talia, she is aggressive and manifests herself in violent and dangerous behaviour - likely due to her upbringing. Thus her personality contrasts itself, once completely distracted from her usual behaviour she is a nice person, she just needs the someone who connects with her on a deep level.

She is reckless and does not fear the bending and breaking of rules. She and a former member of the tribe got into a argument resulting in Rebekah to violently attack the other mermaid leading to her be forced to leave the tribe.

Accepted! Maybe Ekene threw her out because she was a bad singer? I can totally see Ekene doing that. Or maybe Ekene was always being cruel to her about her singing, and Rebekah snapped and attacked her and they had a huge fight and then Ekene threw her out?

H I S T O R Y:: Augustina had turned into a mermaid in 1632 when she was fifteen. After becoming a mermaid she lived in the Lowcountry Tribe, even though it was better than her actual life she hated it greatly and tried any means to become human. Before that she lived on a cotton farm that her father owned. Augustina had always hated his ways, and even him and did anything in her power to go against him. She didn't have a mother because she died giving birth to her younger sister Avalina, so Augustina picked up the role of being her mother’s replacement. She nurtured Avalina and taught her everything she knew during the day. removedNothing seemed to work so he turned to her sister and used her as a hostage. Filled with hate and disgust with her dad, Augustina took her younger sister and fled. She didn't make it far until news about her spread, claiming she had kidnapped Avalina. A bounty was placed on her head and soon people were after the two of them but that didn't stop Augustina, everyday she struggled to avoid roads and people while keeping her sister alive. One day she slipped up and a group of passersby recognized her from the posters. Ripping Avalina from her hands they laughed as Augustina fought against them but Augustina was too weak. In the end she lost her sister and was left in the mud to die. When she became a mermaid she was crushed, no matter how hard she tried she could never make it back to her baby sister. The grief destroyed her until she learned that some mermaids could turn back into human thus began her desperate attempt to become human. Each day she'd stick her tail out of water, the time getting longer and longer as she got used to the pain. Some days the pain would be to much and she'd run with a fever, making her hallucinate her sister. One day, six years ago after holding her tail out of water for god knows how long, she discovered she had legs. Stumbling ashore she discovered a whole new world. One without her sister.
P E R S O N A L I T Y:: As a mermaid Augustina was consumed fully by grief and depression. But when she wasn't trying to become human she was caring for the Metaskazas, often she'd try reassuring them even though she herself hated it there. She had a very gentle and soft voice that seemed to soothe those younger then her which she enjoyed doing. It made her think of when she sung Avalina to sleep as a human. It was her only comfort in hell. Augustina often avoided the older mermaids because she never understood how they could just accept being stuck in the sea forever but she did hang around close to them, within ear-shot so she could hear any new gossip. Which was how she discovered the way to turn human again. Tina is strong willed, loyal to those close to her and a warrior in her own way. Even though she feels empty after learning the year and how her sister was no longer alive, she also feels at peace with the world. Unlike before she gives small smiles and isn't consumed with trying to escape the seas. Now you can see her hanging around the shore of the Lowcountry Tribe trying to spot familiar faces.
