Description: Thema is a happy-go-lucky lioness, somewhat naive, but eager to learn.
She is the average size for her age, thought thinner in build, with big paws that look slightly our of proportion. She has bright amber eyes which are incredibly expressive.

Backstory: Thema was born to a 'nature reserve' that flew under the radar as a caring place for protected species, but was selling baby animals under the table to those who could pay hundreds of thousands of dollars. Sold as soon as she was born, she was allowed to wean from her mother before being torn away, sold to a father who brought the exotic cat for his spoilt daughter.

Growing while being treated as a house-pet, there were obvious issues. Big cats have never been house cats, and what the humans saw as a 'scratching post' was basically a toothpick to the lioness. The cute paws turned into big paws, and playful swats became not so playful to the girl. Thema always tried sneaking outside into the large garden, and the harness she was walked on just didn't seem to cut it anymore. After one incident too many, involving a million dollar piece of art, the lion was removed from the house, and put into a 'kennel run', the right size for a German Shepherd, but not a growing lion.

One of the gardeners reported the poor creature to authorities, and the lioness was seized, ending up here, at AWAR. It's time for Thema to learn to be a lion.

Description: Chloe is not an old dingo, but appearances would suggest otherwise. The wild dog was found, skin and bones, on the edge of a homestead in central Queensland. She is only just back up to a normal weight, but is still on the lower side of this.
She often hangs around by herself, quiet and somewhat morose, not really very enthused by anything. On the rare occasion that she does feel like talking to other creatures, her stories are spectacular, filled with beautiful and vivid descriptions. Telling stories appears to be her only passion in life.

Backstory: Chloe has had a hard life. Her mother died when she was just 9 months old, the young dingo hadn't yet honed her skills well enough to live on her own. When she was one, and virtually skin and bones, she was found by a brutal, cruel male, who she stayed with out of survival need. Her weight and general failing health led to her having a stillborn pup and the male attacked her in anger, casting her out on her own.

Considered a pest, she was lucky that a kind-hearted animal lover found her, alone, dehydrated and starving on the side of a dirt track. Taking her in, the human tried caring for her, but was not able to fulfill all the needs of the canine. After changing hands several times with different rescue societies and organisations, not able to really settle and trust, Chloe has ended up at AWAR, and is not able to truly believe that she will ever be free again, and just moved again and again until the day she passes.

Description: Robin is a cheeky fox, clever and sunning, as foxes are wont to be. Having grown up in and lived in an urban environment, he is very smart to humans and their ways, and uses this to get up to as much mischief as possible.
He is a bit of a flirt, and loves teasing other animals in good jest. He never means to actually offend or insult, but it can happen with more sensitive animals. He has some sense though, and won't tease those who can't take it (or return it).

Backstory: Robin grew up in an urban environment, the outskirts of a very large, busy city. Scavenging is the way of life, and Robin is a master of the rubbish bin. He and his mother and siblings, all four of them, were together for a very long time, growing up as pests and unwanted by the world around them. They managed to avoid any serious trouble, though being shot at is quite startling.

After going his own way when full grown, Robin turned into somewhat of a loner, never really fitting in with any groups or meeting anyone to call his partner. He would occasionally fool around with other animals, but never found a fox he truly 'clicked' with.

Robin ended up at AWAR after being found on the side of a road, panting for air and looking almost dead. He had been poisoned and for once, it had managed to be concealed enough to fool the streetwise tod. He was lucky to recover, and ended up at AWAR due to the people who rescued him not knowing what to do, not wanting to re-release him into the city.

Winona Was born in Brazil, and her mother had raised her and her sibling, a smaller black male. Winona liked to call him shadow because he always followed her around. When Shadow and Winona were old enough to be able to eat meat, their mother had left to go find food. She never came back, until one day when they heard her yowls from a ways away. Winona and Shadow raced to their mother and found she was not there. Instead, there were strange things on two legs, who wrapped them in netting and took them away. The box they were put in smelled of their mother. They were taken away to a large, loud area filled with more of the strange things. The rest of that part of Winona's life is fuzzy, but she remembers when the good people came and took her to the Rescue, but she still will never forget what happened to her and Shadow.
