That's an awesome idea. But who should I have Icestar choose?

Well, Icestar and Blueheart are still in the medicine cat's den having some serious kitty-talks.
Nightfrost, Sparrowstorm, Sunstrike, Firestrike, Pebbleheart, Dawnflight, and Martenfur have found a foxy, and I'm gonna have Kage join the group and smack the foxy's butt or something.
Starlingsong and Raventhorn are flirting and hunting, meanwhile Orchidpaw is being a third-wheel.
Weaslefur and Kestrelbelly were about to go hunt but Foxfrost bumped into them and they're kind of just chillin'
Thistlefeather is walking in circles around the camp; Cloudsong is taking a nap.

And there is a handful of cats, Falconpaw, Hawkpaw, Bengalfur, and Leopardstep, who aren't doing anything.

Alright, I wanted to share some of my in-the-process-of-being-constructed head-canon with my fellow roleplayers and throw out some ideas concerning Lakeclan's past. Fair warning, a great deal of rambling speculation follows.

My new cat has changed from Silverfoot to Dovesong, both in deference to Keriae's Silverwing as well as personal preference. Dovesong is Foxfrost's sister and 28 moons of age, so she's been around for most of the lives of many of the cats in the roleplay. While writing her history, however, I ran into several different spots where I had to try to work out how other cats' histories would haved related to hers. Going by that kits become apprentices at 6 moons and 'paws generally become warriors at 12, I tried to let her touch upon a few of the other cats around. I'd like to both confirm some of my assumptions and establish some facts that all of us can use to make our cats feel a bit more interconnected. With a firmer foundation of past for us to look back on, I think we can gain a better understanding of how our cats relate to one another.

One of my ideas concerns kitsutenshi's Icestar and Kitty-lover's briefly mentioned Froststar for the most part. Since Froststar was the Leader when Dawnflight was still a kit in her mother's belly, I'm assuming Froststar was Icestar's father. Icestar would have been 14 moons old when Dovesong was born, and he was made deputy at a young age. He was deputy for a year -roughly 12 moons- before Froststar died and he was made Icestar. Part of Dovesong's past -and indeed, pretty much the reason for her name- was a wave of sickness that swept over camp about five moons into her apprenticeship, meaning she would have been 11 moons old at the time.

Now bare with me for a little while more. 11+14=25, 25-12=13. Icestar would have been 25 moons old at the time, meaning if Froststar died during this wave of sickness then Icestar would have been made deputy at 13 moons of age, which fits with his history almost perfectly. -Even if that's just a a bit too young, keep in mind that Froststar could potentially have proclaimed his kin suitable for being a warrior sooner than the average 12 moons.- Since Icestar is now 42 and this happened when he was 25, this would have been 17 moons ago.
(Forgive me if I got any ages wrong or forgot anyone!)
- Orchidpaw, Hawkpaw, Falconpaw, Stagpaw, Moonkit, Crowfang, and Nightfrost would not have been born yet.
- Pebbleheart, Starlingsong, Stormcloud, and Kestrelbelly would have been 2 moons old.
- Cloudsong and Thistlefeather would have been 5 moons old.
- Martenfur, Sparrowstorm, Dawnflight, Weaselfur, and Wolfsong would have been 8 moons old.
- Foxfrost and Dovesong would have been 11 moons old.
- Blueheart and Bengalfur(though a kittypet) would have been 13 moons old.
- Firestrike and Leopardstep would have been 17 moons old.

I think that this would be a great event that our characters could think back on and relate to with one another, as well as provide us with some much-needed history to many of our cats' interactions. I'm fairly certain everyone's history has room for an unmentioned moon of sickness in the camp. This could be the event that took Icestar's father and left an impression on many of the cats currently living as part of the clan. It's all speculation of course, though! I felt like we could take more pleasure from roleplaying with one another if we could feel our cats had known each other for longer than their roleplayers, and solidifying some past events would help that cause. I know several cats have backstories with tragic events that would have affected the clan as a whole and could be used for this purpose.

This doesn't have to actually be a thing in the least, however; just a look into the way my mind works.

That's also one heck of a way to say 'Hey Kitty-lover, I finished my new character; is she accepted? Also, I was still bored afterwards so I did some random rambling that ended up sounding at least slightly intelligent.' o.o

btw Silverwing isn't actually mine: she's another user's character but she's cemented in his history xD only Seawhisker is mine, while Silverwing and Oddclaw both belong to Celina.

Other than that, I think it's a great idea!

Still, if Silverwing was a member of Lakeclan, it would be weird for there to be another cat who started with 'Silver' at the same time. Besides, I think Dovesong rather suits the character. :3

This wave of sickness you speak of would also make sense for why a lot of other cats mentioned in each character's description are no longer alive. So the unexplained reasons for parents' or sibling's deaths could be this wave of sickness.

And you're right, it does give the cats a stronger bond, since they would all remember it (some of them vaguely). All of the cats in the Clan also seem to be relatively young, so perhaps this disease targetted older cats? It could be an explanation for that as well.

Not so much thought out as a rambling, uncertain track of thought that just kinda appeared and went off in it's own direction. I just happened to be there to type it down at the time!

And Spirit also certainly brings up a good point! Most roleplayers don't really have the time or care to roleplay an entire family of cats at the same time, meaning often members of the family will be absent at the time of the roleplay. This epidemic would definitely provide both a reason for many of the missing family members as well as a reason for the ages of most of the warriors.

We can deal with that! We're not really going to need a deputy until after the flood anyways, since I think we're planning on finishing this fox fight, having the cats realize it's after sunhigh already, go back to camp and talk a little, and then go to sleep so that the prophecy cats can receive the message. That way, we'll be jumping into the prophecy soon enough that there won't be too much of a lull but far enough from now that it won't go directly from cats fighting a fox to a huge wave destroying anything and a queen in labor in the midst of it. After the prophecy cats receive the message, it will be Pebbleheart's job to inform Blueheart and all that hoopla we discussed earlier. (I love the word hoopla XD) We can just sort of, you know, ignore patrols for that day... and then that night, the prophecy will seriously begin. Sound good?

And I guess it's up to you, Kit! XD Just use the usual deputy check-off list, like who's loyal and likes working and can handle responsibility and all that, and pick the cat who matches it the best. I'm going to say that it should most-likely not be any of the younger warriors, since it's usually older, more experienced warriors that are better equipped for the job. At least you'll have a while to think before you need to pick.

...Whoa. That's some pretty deep stuff there, kitsune! It's a really good idea! I can't believe you took the time to formulate it to that degree! And it completely works with the general youth of the clan and all the dead family members. I love it that we're all giving our cats a sense of familiarity with each other. I think that most of the reason why role plays die is that the members and their characters rarely ever have any real connections with each other, and since we're doing this, I predict that LakeClan shall not die for a long, long time. <3 I certainly won't be letting it die.

By the way, I'm pretty sure I'm closing the clan off to outside members now. I think that we've got so much planned with our existing cats and that our clan is good enough already that new members would be hopelessly confused and would really feel like outsiders.
