l-meaning by nature, the prince is not the typ

pation in arkhian military campaigns and raw
physical robustness, he could certainly prove
intimidating and formidable to deal with if he
so desired, but that is just simply not the typ

magnanimous demeanor is a clear fixture of h

ical arkhian customs, his humanity should not

urisdiction can be credited to his kin. his father is a soldier of the prae
torian guard, an elite unit of the army that serves as personal bodygua
rds for the gens of julia, a patrician family that has historically held lea
dership over the legion since its founding. nico's father tacitus is the p
refect praetorian, the commander of the praetorian guard and a posit
ion of office that grants said standing extensive legal and administrati
ve functions, with its holders becoming one of the sovereign's chief ai
des in terms of imperial security. like all officers of the guard, tacitus
resides in the castra praetoria, barracks built on amasra hill to specifi
cally house the praetorian guard and their respective kin. raised amid
st the battle cries and martial scheming of amasra hill, nico spent a m
ajority of his early childhood amongst some of the greats of messalina
's legion. at age seven, nico would become a cupbearer for the court,
and legionnaires stationed at amasra hill would go on to describe nico

ganized crime, later being hired for muscle as a bodyguard and apprentice to fionn d
onnelly, a kavanagh family mobster from the strip of las vegas. during this time the i-

er cormac was kidnapped, pistol-whipped and severely bea
ten by ruairí ahearn, a made man and caporegime in the m
cgrath crime family who frequently employed the kidnap-f
or-ransom racket of local merchants to their families. ruai
rí was the sort of man who sent flowers to neighbors in the
hospital and provided turkeys to needy families during than
ksgiving, in addition to running gambling enterprises such a
s bookmaking, accompanied inevitably by loansharking whi
ch led to assault and burglary. however, among all his crimi
nal activities, the most audacious was his so-called snatch
racket, where he would kidnap and hold local businessmen
and members of other crime organizations for ransom. ruai
rí was able to add to his neighborhood prominence by marr
ying lauren fairisle, a daughter of the industrialist fairisle f
amily belonging to the 'big four'. the union of political pow
er with criminal activity enhanced the mcgrath crime fami
ly's ability to control union jobs and labor racketeering, mo
ving strongly into construction jobs and service work in con
clave cities. following the ahearn-initiated kidnapping and
pistol whipping of nolan's father, the so-called 'ahearn-o'ca
llaghan' war began when nolan swore revenge against ruair
í 𝘛𝘞𝘌𝘓𝘝𝘌. the expansion of the mcgrath crime family from
night city to the westside of euphoria hill was quickly seen
as a threat by the italian mafia, who demanded involveme
nt in a soon-to-be-built convention center being construct
ed on ahearn's westside, a project guaranteed to bring in
enormous amounts of money. with tensions rising betwee
n rival irish families during this time ─ including the kava
naghs and brosnans slowly muscling in on their territory ─
the mcgraths partnered with families of the italian-ameri
can mafia, a move that would define the relationship bet
ween the irish and italian mob for the next decade or so
and lead to major conflicts between the crime families.

brought the head of conor with them, set it down on the bar s
tool, ordered his favorite whiskey, lit one of his cigarettes and
put it in his mouth. they are reputed to have said that “althou
gh he [messed] up, he was still a good irishman.” 𝘛𝘏𝘐𝘙𝘛𝘌𝘌𝘕.
though gone, the italian commission still viewed ahearn as t
he neighborhood's boss, putting the convention center under
his control. a high-ranking member of the mariano crime fam
ily wanted the center for himself and eventually reached an
agreement with nolan: if he came into control in euphoria hi
ll, the italian mobster would run the construction and give n
olan a taste of the proceeds. the italians then reached out to
a freelance hitman to eliminate the three main ahearn suppo
rters in pandora city, among those being callum brosnan, who
had apparently switched sides to the kavanagh camp after he
and nolan killed and dismembered conor beirne for killing cal
lum's best friend, but because the italians were not aware of
the switch, brosnan was not spared. it has long been rumored
that an italian crew murdered ahearn as a favor to nolan, wit
h an italian-american mobster being the shooter. with ruairí o
ut of the picture, the kavanagh family came to have undisput
ed control over pandora's westside, and saw nolan promoted t
o caporegime of the westside crew, later known as the féth fí
ada (aptly named after a magical mist or veil in irish mytholog
y which members of the tuatha dé danann use to enshroud th
emselves, rendering their presence invisible to human eyesigh-

with the mcgrath family successful in keeping control of the convention center due to the help of t
he italians, the irish, frustrated and embarrassed by their defeat to ahearn and the italian mobster
s, responded by hiring a rogue irish-american hitman to assassinate two enforcers for crime boss to
más mcgrath and another mobster who served as a mentor to ruairí ahearn. when pandora was no l
onger safe for ruairí and his family he fled to the strip, fearful of threats of violence against his chi
ldren. his control of the rackets in the city began to deteriorate in his absence, mostly seized by th
e italians or by rival irish mobsters including upstarts such as nolan o'callaghan, the protégé fionn d
onnelly took on. during this time, the kavanagh family went through a massive change when its bos
s mícheál kavanagh died of natural causes. lachlan moore was named boss, with domhnall walsh ret
aining the position of underboss. the implications of this were twofold for nolan: fionn donnelly wa
s elevated to the position of caporegime, taking over the crew of men lachlan previously headed,
making nolan's mentor now even closer to the family leadership, and with mícheál kavanagh decea
sed, new associates would be eligible for membership into the family. lachlan did not immediately
open the books for new members however, opting instead to promote existing members and shuffl
e around the crews' leaders. he also allegedly opposed the idea of nolan being made. lachlan invol
ved himself in white-collar crime and looked down on street-level members such as nolan, and add
itionally, he felt nolan was “uncontrollable”. fionn's attempts at persuading lachlan to make nolan
were continually rejected, and by the mid-2420s, nolan became distraught by the situation and se
arched for opportunities that would ensure larger returns for his superiors. he began to carve a na
me for himself as a violent younger generation irish mobster determined to take out old-timer ruai
rí ahearn after he fled the city. nolan went on to gain a following among the younger irish in the n
eighborhood and earned the respect of some prominent names in the underworld, even leading to
the establishment of ties to the brosnan family, whom were thought to be aligning with the mcgra
ths prior to ahearn's leave. apparently, nolan and callum brosnan became known as associates whe
n they called mcgrath mobster conor beirne in under the pretense of a hit against the ahearn crew,
claiming they needed him to be the wheelman in the murder. the two soon proceeded with their r
eal plan however by murdering and butchering him, making nolan the so-called “butcher of pandor
a city” through what would later become known as his infamous acts of dismemberment. the follo-

𝘕. though the kavanagh family managed to take advantage of the power vac
uum in pandora city, the irish mafia wars continued to escalate. when a con
flict erupted over an underweight shipment of illicit goods, nolan played a c
ritical hand in deliberately escalating a dispute between the mcgrath and b
rosnan family. suspicion would fall on a brosnan family member who had col
lected the goods and organized the transport from the strip, though this ma
n would later die and lead to the brosnans suspecting the mcgraths. nolan ─
having his own problems with tomás mcgrath and wanting him out of the wa
y ─ contrived the murder of the brosnan man in such a way that the mcgrath
s would appear responsible. the result of having no functioning mafia commi
ssion to govern the irish crime families, disagreements on how to handle the
situation led to a bloody conflict between the families, headed by aidin bros
nan. nolan then participated, along with another kavanagh capo, in several
attacks on the mcgraths and their allies, considered enemies because of the
ir intrusion in the wholesale produce market. this included the 'highrise mas
sacre' where he was responsible for a car bomb exploding near tomás mcgra
th’s house, killing police and military officers sent to defuse it after an anon
ymous phone call. when the bomb exploded, prominent brosnan family mem
bers had already retreated from the city. as a result the mcgraths began to s
uspect the kavanagh family's double-crossing role in the mafia war, leading t
o underboss domhnall walsh and three of his men being killed by a mcgrath
hit squad while visiting pandora city on the account of business. walsh's kill
ers entered the office of a construction company where he was present and
while walsh was able to shoot and kill one man and wound another, he was
eventually shot to death by the use of a submachine gun. with a pressing u
rgency for stability in the kavanagh family amidst the chaos transpiring in p
andora city, nolan became the natural choice to fill the role left by walsh u
pon his untimely death. his strategic acumen, unwavering loyalty to the fa
mily and ruthless efficiency saw his promotion to underboss, his capabilities
having been tested and proven in the crucible of pandora city's underworld.
