I came up with a super great idea in class today! If you guys are still here then we can encounter an alien race here, get new members for the rp as they are the aliens, and we give them this super different culture and we explore the culture shock.
In case you haven't noticed, I really don't want this roleplay to die.
Whaddya say, guys? Rudigoat? Ninth One? DreamScape?

The main idea I have for the alien's culture would be that they have extreme gender roles and subject everything to that. They find the crew and, oh, of course a man is in charge. What is the second in command? "Gender Neutral"? You liar, that's a girl! She's only calling herself something else so she can have a position of power! (They apparently don't have the concept of androgyny or transgender, so they wouldn't believe Riki). What happened to you guys? Oh, you crashed? Well your pilot was a girl, why was she given such a job? Yadda yadda yadda. I think it'd be a cool way to explore characters as well as include more roleplayers.

Wow! The roleplay lives!
That's a really cool idea! Where would this species be? Would the crew be travelling far from the ship, or would we still be relatively close? Also, how would they discover them? Would the species find them, or would they find the species? Finally, would there be a language barrier, or would they have some sort of translator device, or would the other species speak the same/a similar language?
I may or may not have begun writing a sequel to that story... It's based more around the psychological effects of the experience on Icarus back on earth though, so it's not as closely connected.
I don't really have a visual reference for Icarus, I just have the vague written appearance in his description.
