Depending on whether she's a noble or not, you can do a couple thing:
If she's a noble, it's easy to just stick her with Alvere and Val and Aeron and the other nobles
If she isn't a noble, her mage status could probably land her anywhere. She could be travelling with the envoy as an assistant (that seems like the most likely option to me), in which case Faina could essentially go anywhere.

Long story short, you can pretty much sick her wherever you want ^-^
