Is -tongue an acceptable suffix for a cat who has a sharp tongue? Like Bristletongue, Thorntongue, etc.

unfortunately almost entirely quit, this site just doesn't spark joy for me anymore. (no my stuff is not available. if it was i would've made a thread for it)
occasionally log back on to search for references or old posts for character information, but not much more
i'm on toyhou.se @corrosive_limes if you want to credit me for a design / art that you have
my discord is also corrosive_limes if you really really need me for something

Description: Long haired calico male cat with unusually longer legs.

    Name: SpottedStep

    Gender: Tom cat {male}

    Clan: Windclan

    Rank: Young Warrior

Personality/Skills: SpottedStep is a very social cat and loves to talk with the warriors and elders and play with the kits in his free time; occasionally takes queens and elders there food. He enjoys running in the flat lands of Windclan which is easy for him since he has unusually longer legs. SpottedStep is soft type of cat which makes him a target to most rude cats.

Important Notes: He's about 20 moons {months} old

Name Rating: 7/10
Name Type: Semi-traditional
Name Reasoning: The issue here is that you're using -step in a place where it shouldn't be used. The rule of -step is that it mus correlate with the prefix, and the cat must walk like the prefix (walk like a kestrel, or a fawn, for example). Otherwise, his name is fine (btw, that's a tortoiseshell you've got there, not a calico. The differences are this and this, respectively - tortoiseshells are a mishmash of colors, and calicoes have larger patches of color).
Alternative Name: Spottedfoot. I'm guessing that he's a fast cat, since he loves to run, so he gets the -foot suffix. If he isn't, stick with -fur or -pelt.

Character Rating: 8/10
Character Reasoning: The biggest issue here is not his personality, but his gender and his coat. Tortoiseshells and calicoes are specifically female, and males of those colors are incredibly rare, called "chimeras". From his description, he isn't a chimera, so the main thing to do here would be to either change his gender or study up on chimeras and make him fit with that and its side-effects. Otherwise, he's a pretty cool cat! (see what I did there)

    Thank you, SpottedFoot is a nice name ^_^ {oh whoops calicos and tortoiseshells look very similar cx} definitely changing him to a she-cat ^^;

Sorry for the late response!

It is not, for a couple of reasons. One being that, if you wanted to describe how the cat talks, their entire name would have to apply to it (Sweet-tongue, Thorntongue) for someone to understand what the name implies. That compromises the entire point of a name (to describe the physical aspects of a cat, or their skill), and you wouldn't be able to figure out what the cat looks like.

The second reason is that while being quick with the sarcasm is fun and all, it's not much of a survival trait. Someone who's got a way with words doesn't count for much if they can't catch a mouse to save their life. The point of a suffix is to describe something that's altogether needed by the Clan if it wants to survive (-leaf, -fang, -flower). You could argue that -storm, -cloud and -heart don't really cover anything necessary, but I would counter that a cat with a fierce personality or a strong sense of justice, or even a calm and reasonable cat, can be extremely helpful with moral and disputes.

A cat that's only good with words isn't worth too much if they aren't putting that to action - calming down others in arguments, persuading others to fight against injustices, or even leading the Clan. Usually, that coincides with a personality trait!

I hope I was clear enough!

Name Rating: 5/10
Name Type: Traditional
Name Reasoning: His prefix would work if he wasn't a member of the Big Four - there's a general unspoken rule that cats should not be named after a Clan, and this certainly applies. Shadow- is a traditional prefix, but it's only allowed outside of canon Clans, so unfortunately I have to mark you down.
I'm not sure if he's a good fighter and hunter, though, so I can't really say how I feel about his suffix. If he is rather skilled at both, then by all means keep it, but if not, we ought to stick to the defaults.
Alternative Name: Blackfur/Rookpelt (suffixes interchangeable, as always).

Character Rating: 6/10
Character Reasoning: I definitely need to put a Common Traits post up, because I get a lot of loyal cats. The basic rule of that is: a required trait as a Clan cat is to be willing to die for your Clanmates. If you aren't loyal to the death, you aren't a Clan cat.
Other than that, a distant, aloof deputy may give off bad vibes, so you should think about what really makes him worthy of leadership. Is it a sharp wit, that can get a patrol in and out of a fight with minimal injuries? Was it bias on the part of the leader? Does he deal with the rival Clans directly and with a no-nonsense attitude, and refuse to fight them until civil talk has been attempted and met with repeated failures? Think about it.

I'm sorry, I can't really help without a sheet. A lot of things could go into what fits the cat, rather than what sounds good (which is not really the point of this thread). If you'd like to send in a quick sheet or two, I could help you out.

(I took the name suggestion you gave me and shaped her up a bit! But you know that, because your in the roleplay :b)
Image/Description: Medium-long white fur that fluffy up around her chest. She had a fluffy tail and skinnier legs and paws. Her face is short-haired. She has long aws, sharp teeth, and she is skinny. Crystal blue eyes.
Name: Frostclaw
Gender: She-cat
Clan: MapleClan
Rank: Warrior; She was barely able to become a warrior because of her lack of sight, but she trained exceptionally hard and her senses became very acute.
Personality/Skills: Frostclaw can be a little timid when cats talk to her, but once she warms up She is very friendly and nice. She is not very skilled at hunting, but she can fight very well. A secret of hers; As an apprentice, Starclan warriors trained her to help her become a warrior. She worked so hard and they felt she would make a good warrior.
Important Notes: Blind.
