history: pepper hails from the
two-leg place; as he is learning to
call it. alongside his sister melon,
they kept the company of their
human, margaret.
margaret took the pair in and
cared for them while their
mother could not. born under-
neath the porch of the kind lady
's home, what choice did she have?
margaret had to be taken away,
the other two legs looked much
younger than she was when they
came to do so. melon went with
one of the young two legs, but

pepper was too scared. he was sad margaret would not be taking
care of him anymore, and he couldnt understand why they had to be
apart. he darted out the front door the first second he could.
gravel and dirt turned to sand beneath his paws before he finally
stopped running. everything that happens next is still a bit of a blur to the young housecat. he is called slatepaw
now, and lives under the guidance of a cat family called tideclan as their apprentice. everything has changed so
quickly, but he has a feeling he is where he is meant to be.

Pearl thinks about those last days
almost every time she closes her eyes. the waves
still pull sand from beneath her paws, the breeze
still knots her fur with salt. and yet, everything is
different. she never thought there would be
sunrises and sunsets without the ever-present
chattering from her family. her days' starts and
ends are certainly still filled with chatter, but
it's... different. Pearlwhisker isn't sure if the
melancholy is regretful or bittersweet, Pearl is
not sure of anything.

it has been 6 moons since she joined Tideclan.
they found her matted, white body sunken in
hunger and wedged between driftwood. her
grief wracked her bones together until she
was as empty as the shells once plucked from
hungry beaks. they had been wrong, she could
not care for herself. she could hardly catch anything
on her own, and she could not find shelter that
would last the night (evident from quite a few
mornings waking in salty sea water). and yet -
it was enough for the cats of Tideclan.
