Because she's young and has a high rank I think it would be great to say she earned her confidence/cockiness and her nickname from being an actual genius? Similar to how reboot Chekov joined Starfleet so young? C: also, for simplicity sake, I'm not having any of these characters be related to the originals, so her father wouldn't be Kirk.

@Daisy : If you'd like their relationship to be positive, they could know each other from the Academy? They probably aren't that close but do know each other and can easily hold conversation. On the journey, I would love it if they became closer friends, with Andrea helping Venus through her loneliness and worry.

Or if you'd like them to have a neutral/slightly negative relation for more character relationship development, they could have shared some classes in the Academy but dislike each other because of misunderstandings. (Maybe Venus thinks Andrea is a stuck-up know-it-all or something like that) The two of them will have to learn to work together and will find out the other person isn't like that at all and will eventually become friends.

I'm perfectly open to either option! (Or anything you come up with to add to them.)

Well....Venus let me just get this out there, She doesn't like Andrea they are similar in someways making it hard for Venus to like her, but maybe things could change over the course of five years?

Its kinda neutral Venus doesn't really talk to her much and considers the girl
Quiet and closed off, plus she seems pretty innocent which Venus is jealous of
